    Best long term review I have ever seen. Like the voice over silence and played sound of bike for exhaust. Good daily drive in city conditions is a real world test of how good a bike rides. Agree with all your cons and basically entire video - been riding since 1988. Wonderful editing too. A joy to watch.

    Thank you for sharing your experiences with the bike and listing your pros and cons. I appreciate the fact that you did not only criticize but you also offered suggestions and actual fixes for most the issues you encountered. The city tour was a fantastic backdrop as your narrative unfolded. GREAT REVIEW 👍.

    20,000 km on mine with 0 issues so far. Love the bike!
    I do find that the B mode helps with jerky throttle and in traffic. Also just got YSS cartridge kit + rear shock put in as the stock suspension was really rough on poor quality roads at higher speeds, I found.
    Was thinking of getting another bike, but realized that there is no bike that I really want over this and that switching will not get me a better bike, just a different bike. Xsr900 is awesome!

    • @giraumoto
      @giraumoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I no I said it in the review but I couldn’t understate it the exhaust make the throttle soooooooo much smoother. It’s literally a game changer I was thinking about trading it in for a different bike also. But now that it rides the way it should. I never want to get rid of it. Trust me it makes that much of a difference. Sorry for the late response

      @@giraumoto I have 2018 and have put 3k on it in the year so far. You hit the nail on the head with this review. Fuel capacity is my only big con and even then only if I'm in the mountains being paranoid. Mike, you wouldn't be disappointed with the 900 at all. The customization possibilities are great and you can make it what you want. It's best suited for the city and trips to the twisties in my opinion. It can do the other things but it shines in the above mentioned. Love mine and can't think of another bike I'd want to ride more.

    Thanks for the long term review, I like how you went over what you didn't like first then what you do like and in depth. I saw you mention the windscreen, how's the wind when cruising at freeway speeds on this bike? Does the wind make it feel like you're fighting the bike?

    I have a 2020 XSR900 and I can relate to your review with regards to the throttle “jerkiness” as well as certain parts of the bike not doing the XSR justice. However I love my XSR and the more I ride it the more I love it! I am looking to fit a Tail tidy and some LED indicators. I have fitted a radiator guard and some side crash sliders to the bike.

    Well done! Great review. Thank you! This one is growing on me. Went to a dealer for a testride and they gave me the MT-09 saying it was similar. Decided I didn't want one since it was "dancing" all over the road. Crappy suspension. But I've come to realize that the XSR uses the same suspension as the Tracer which is better. Any thoughts on that? Anything to look out for? Some models/years better than others? Cheers mate!

    • @giraumoto
      @giraumoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey I heard the XSR suspension is alittle better than the FZ but I don’t think it will be too far off. I never had a problem with it tho I don’t take it too the extremes like on the track. But for back roads and city it’s more than good enough. As far as years I would say 2018 and up so you can get the optional Yamaha quickshifter. 😎. If you have a chance to give it a test ride. This bike will soon enough become a classic, now Yamaha have released the updated model. I have the 2017 metallic Blue/grey stripe Abarth model, and I love it so much. Recently changed the chain and sprocket set, but have yet to ride it as the front fork pinch bolt stripped its thread when being re-fitted after a tyre change, and now I'm waiting to get that fixed.

    Hey there, thanks for the long term review and the pointers. I've only been riding for a couple of years but my first bike is the XSR 700. I know a lot of the 700's issues are not carried over to the 900, but how do you go for fuel? The tank is too small on my 700 and I have to fill up twice when we ride through the hills on the weekend which can be a problem when your out in the boonies with no petrol stations close and it's running low.
    However, small tank aside, as my daily city commuter (Melbourne Australia) it shines. So nimble and torquey I have a permanent smile on my dial. I also feel like this is a bike I'd never sell... But I think I'd happily upgrade it to the 900.

    • @giraumoto
      @giraumoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe we have about the same size fuel tank you might actually get better range because you have a smaller engine. But I can squeeze 150miles out my tank but it in AUS i would say keep the 700 and carry spare fuel. I don’t know the look you go for but they have big Roto canisters you can hook to the bike or just a little gas bottle to keep your mind at ease

    • @douglasalexander4348
      @douglasalexander4348 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want a bigger tank, go for the tracer. 17l. Same engine and chassis, more upright but not as good looking as xsr. IMO. I have a tracer btw, for a screen, ability to clip on hard panniers and bigger tank. Love XSR though.

    He speaks! Dam, and I only have 3 thousand miles on my ... one if the main reasons why I decided on a Yamaha over a Ducati was because of their reliably and cheaper aftermarket prices. One of the cons for me is on the highway its seems that the xsr900 is to high on the rpms. I thought about regearing but just to drop it down a few 100ths of rpm wasn't worth it. It also felt the twisting throttle but vcycle tun
    e eliminated it for me.

      Lol yea reliability. And cheap service. Is probly why I’ll keep it forever lol. I was also was thinking about dropping a few teeth in the back but I always talk my self out of it Lol. And if the Ivan’s tuning wasent so close I probly would of went with vcycle tune. I’m a little jealous that it can use the FT quickshifter. For some reason Ivan’s doesn’t take well to quickshifters

    Again you're talking about valve adjustments $300 versus how much you paid on your other bike if you paid $300 your valves did not need to be adjusted they pulled everything apart they pulled the valve cover and they checked the clearance your valves were inspects so they put it back together that's your $300 now your other bike that cost you a lot more needed the valves adjusted that's why you paid a lot more I was a motorcycle mechanic for over 37 years some of these people are misleading people
