Great flying, you can see how you have progressed since the firestorm one. You've made me think about using the laser painter a bit - i kind of ignored that one in favour of the guided missiles. I can see now how it pinpoints where the centre of the target is in a crowded screen.
When they are locking, first there is the flashing LOCK word on the screen and there are deep, consecutive beeps, then there is a solid deep beep which means they have completed the lock. After that, when you hear high pitched quick beeping, that means the missle is fired. Pop the flares when you hear the high pitched quick beeping.
what i find very awesome is to have laser painter and your gunner have guided shell, its undeflectable unless ecm jammer which i dont find much people use. this is also perfect for the little bird. may take twice as long to lock as you need to lock laser and guided shell but again.... flares cant help them
@SpinninTom only inexperienced pilots pop flares as soon as you get a lock on; the long beep means you are locked on the fast beeps mean the missiles on its way

@WorldWillCollide With flares, you let the missile be fired before you deploy. So then they need to reload before firing again. Laser painter helps to detect enemy vehicles in your line of sight. It also helps others to lock onto it.
@SpinninTom Most people seem to have learned to wait until the missile is launched. I have noticed that sometimes it's better to fire and let him deploy flares, fire rockets and let the gunner keep the enemy heli suppressed until the missiles are reloaded.

What I usually do to find targets is get in a squad of 4 people and then assign positions, me and someone else in the chopper 1 person spotting everything/everyone and the last person flying jet to support us in the air
what a pleasure was driving heli on this map =) hope bf5 is going to bring us back that excitement. P.S. sounds like Dolby Surround to me, I use headphones with Xonar STX
@Redcapzter You have to if you are going to fly like that. At some point you won't even have to look where you are going, you just know where you are and where every little obstacle by heart. You can almost fly with your eyes closed at that point. Then it becomes a game of millimeters as you try and squeeze every last bit of room out of the map so you can fire that last one or two rockets before you turn to avoid that building or that tree etc.
anyone explain what the upper case "i" looking thing is on the targetting, i cant figure out what its for when im flying, sometimes it seems like thats where the missiles are going to go, but other times they dont go there, also the laser pointer does that let ur rocket pods lock on?
@LionSpirit1 I suggest trying to lock on, shoot one missile, wait to deploy flares, quickly lock on again and get your next missile off,and by then you *probably* will have your next missile ready. I use this all the time and it works great.
It's the default settings there also. A and D controls the yaw and W and S the throttle. As for joystick, I use it in FSX but i prefer to use the mouse in battlefield. It's more accurate imo
@AlexandruAsk I guess it's all about technique. Increase altitude and then pitch down - in intervals like a roller-coaster. I use 1600dpi, and a slightly over default sensitivity setting in BF3.
you are the type of pilot i'd love th share a front seat with playing bf 2 and it is damn fun to have a good pilot able doing those manoeuvrings it's exciting and i never get the urge to jump out with the slightest signal of lock on like i got with most pilots hehe
@tankageddon An easy way to get a repair-tool kill is to join a knife only server (even if they have indeed restricted all other weapons you'll still get one kill before being auto killed).
My guess is : Heat Seekers, IR Flares and Laser Painter, and the beeping noise is :or he is being locked on or it is the laser painter/heat seeker/damaged vehicle
@MrZero1911HD For pilot: Every option I could think of is unfortunately all in the first slot. Having proximity scan could help you locate enemies on the ground. Guided rocket make the pilot-fired rockets more accurate (because hitting the infantry with most of them is needed for a kill). Autoloader is good if there are several infantry, who will most likely survive the first bombardment and you will therefore need to fire another round- this makes the rockets reload more quickly.
I'm not sure what you mean by "control of movement" for the mouse, you was talking about bindings at first. Left/right movement with the mouse will make the helicopter roll left/right respectively. Up/down with mouse will cause the heli to pitch up/down.
I like how if you're in a chopper with a gunner and you survive for a while, you develop a special bond with them

Can you specify any particular moment when I fire more than 14 rockets at once? It was a bug, you can still hear the reload sound.

I have binded one of the side buttons on the mouse to deploy countermeasures. I use the other side button as PTT for VoIP.

when you hear it beep reallly really fast... then the lock signal turns solid.
The sensitivity? I use default in game, but my mionix naos mouse is set to 3200 dpi. Flying controls are not inverted.

Flares, heatseekers, and I always use laser designator because it makes it easier to see the vehicles when aiming towards them.
