Thanks for this incredible video. It never ceases to amaze me how much our City has grown just in my lifetime. Im 8th generation Brisbanite. I miss the stories my Grandad use to tell us about his adventurous walk to school through cow paddocks in Ashgrove (just imagine) and my Grandma pointing out the Ashgrovian houses my carpenter great grandad buit all those years ago to just name a couple. It was like a different world.
Yes, the city has changed a lot, even since I moved here ten years ago. I think some of the long-term residents don't like the change, while others embrace it. Personally, I hope Brisbane continues to become more modern and cosmopolitan, but that it keeps the unique charm it has that makes it special as well.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. BTW, a lot of people say it's weird that they "spoiled" the river outlook with the Riverside Expressway... but I kinda like it. Especially at night, with all the headlights and tail-lights.
@@FlyingBeardMan Too much, to be honest. And this is already with me reigning in my perfectionist tendencies. I'd spend twice as long on each video if I aimed to put out something I was completely satisfied with. But it's good to have learned how to go easier on myself.
I think many wish it was even MORE underrated, so that fewer people moved here from interstate. I personally welcome newcomers, but I can see that the impact of the increased interstate migration on things like rental availability and house prices is not great to have to deal with.
Wow…very impressive!….Brisbane is a MUCH better city now…l first visited Brisbane in 1980 and honestly thought it was a dump… bland buildings…few historical buildings..(Bellevue Hotel anyone?)..hardly any trees in the city centre….(l had..in 1974..transferred planes at the tin shed that was eagle farm airport)..however…slowly but surely Brisbane has evolved into the modern city it is today….p.s. bring back the fountain..and some greenery to King George Sq……well done…..new subscriber here!
Thanks Terence, welcome! Word is, they're considering a new fountain at King George Square, but they can't start anything until the new metro infrastructure is completed, as some is below KGS.
@@trevorwilson2966 Have you been to Beijing? For one, the sky gives away the difference instantly! We can still breathe safely in Brisbane, and after about nine years living in China, I'm thankful for our amazing blue skies every day. And thankfully, as bad as our traffic congestion is, I've never experienced a crawl on the roads as slow as I did on the regular in Beijing, and that was years ago! I don't know, maybe it's better now?
Some nice editing. It's a shame to see we've probably come more car dependant since a lot of these old photos. I wish Brisbane never got rid of it's trams (and didn't built that ugly expressway right next to the river)
Your sentiment about the trams is shared by many Brisbane residents. We're definitely far too car dependent these days, but there aren't that many alternatives!
And there’s still more projects in Brisbane; Brisbane Metro, Queens Wharf, expansion of QPAC, Cross River Rail, transformation of Victoria Park Golf Course. With the 2032 Olympics coming up, I hope our state government can fix our current mess of nothing happening, because the government is hesitating on spending money. I personally think that the Gabba remodelling should have occurred, because we need easier access to the Gabba and also we need a larger capacity!
The one that I especially do look forward to is walking to Kangaroo Point from the city via the new bridge without waiting for who knows how long before a ferry turns up. There apparently are some other new bridges, but I know nothing about them.
We'll see if there's any substance to the talk of bringing a fountain back at least, once the current infrastructure work under King George Square is completed...
I think however they approach things, there'll be people not happy with it. Either they go big and get criticised for not sticking to the new approach of being sustainable and mostly utilising existing infrastructure, or they follow that more sustainable model and people criticise that it's not impressive enough. Really seems like lose-lose.
Superb video, totally appreciate how much time and effort this would have taken. Great job Adam, love it.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
DUDE, this is top work. Even the music score and timing... fantastic editing as well. What a documentary. Kudos from a videographer veteran.

Brilliant Editing the new into the old. So Smooth! Love this!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed!
Holy smokes. This is next level. 🤯
Aw shucks!
I love these "Then & Now" videos!
Thanks! I'd love to do them based on video content instead of photos, but it's harder to source decent video footage.
those transitions !!! amazing! great job ❤
The hard part is aligning everything correctly when shooting the footage. Most shots are still a little off, which bugs me, but it is what it is.
Fabulous video! Thanks for all the effort! By far the best comparison video I've seen of Brisbane.
Thanks! Any others that you'd recommend?

It certainly gives photographers something cool to capture. One of my favourite shots is from the Vulture Street overpass looking toward the city.
This is amazing Adam. It always blows my mind how much work and detail that you put into your videos!

Brilliant video Adam. Shame there is no $ for shade sails for pedestrians.
Cheers! Yeah, funny how things change before and after an election!
3:17 yes. You got a minion. In years to come someone will do this video and say WTF!
Haha. Yeah, I just wish it was facing the post office instead of away from it.

This is really good. Brisbane is still underrated by the rest of Australia!

Brisbane has improved a lot in 40 years
I think so. For one, I can't imagine Brisbane without South Bank Parkland!
excited for the future of brisbane. The cbd needs a makeover though, particully along queen street where myer, millano and the reject shop used to be
I do agree with that.
Great video!
Looks like King George Square got worse LOL
That's the consensus.
Oh man, now i just really wish that founatin still exists there. 💔😭😢
There is talk of a new fountain, but time will tell if there's any substance to that...
yesh@@BrisbaneChannelit all depends on the politicians in power of course

wow, love it, sadly, I remember all the original scenes..
I was here at that time, but I don't remember any of it - too young at the time. Oh, sorry I never thanked you for the coffee, it was appreciated.
Now it just looks like Beijing.

People seldom look above eye level in the Queen St Mall. Look above the awnings and there is a whole history in front of you!
My favourite is the Regent Theatre. Took me years living here before I discovered that little piece of history. Walked right past it a million times.

Hopefully Brisbane won't end up the laughing stock of the Olympics in 2032, because of the stadium issues??
