    16 different bits of software and 39 companies? That's an insane task. Amazing that they can coordinate such complexity.
    It's an interesting looking project - my personal favourite part, weirdly, is the 5 storey UG car park. Expensive but great use of space.

      Where are you from for you to find that a strange idea? Is it just common here in Australia? Because basically every building here has underground carparks, but i have noticed its much fewer in other parts of the world and basically non existent in Thailand where im living now.

      Software Engineer here. The complexity of how they manage the project is almost as impressive as the building itself.
      Then again it’s nuts to think that without this software, a project of this scale and complexity just wouldn’t be possible. You can’t build structures like this without modern communications technology.
      Question for B1M. So is BIM/openBIM the backend for all of these programs? Does it integrate with the entire construction process from Supplier to Architect and Builder or just specific parts?

      How is a car park a great use of space? cars don't buy things, work, or contribute to culture. They just provide transportation really inefficiently and expensively. There are other alternatives like trains, subways, busses, light rail, ride sharing, biking, walking, e-scooters etc that don't require crazy expensive 5 story underground garages. In my opinion, it would have been better to have built anything underground other than a car park, such as a performance space, movie theater, storage for the historical buildings they are restoring, restaurants etc...

    Even in my own country, the Australians are famous for being incredibly talented engineers and designers. They're a lot more capable than the Americans, light years ahead of the Chinese, and many European engineering companies have an Australian office, so we send a lot of our most complex stuff to them. The only country on-par with Australia is Norway, and in Norway a lot of the engineering companies are government owned so they can really undercut other companies on price. But you really have to hand it to the Australians. They're an incredibly well educated bunch.

They're planning to capitalize on the Olympics, and make Brisbane known alongside Melbourne and Sydney. And then there's the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. They're putting things in the Gold Coast as well to make it known as well. I hope it works. This will also be a huge support for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. They are also building Cross-River Rail, and underground train line, sort of similar to a subway at New York. It will be great transportation for the 2032 Olympics, and for the daily use of the public to reduce peak hour crowds at train stations and bus stations. Wdym there is no cities surrounding it😂😂, we have Geelong which is classified as a city. And wdym no architectural style🤣🤣. Melbourne has the most skyscrapers in Australia and the tallest buildings, look at our projects and designs. Brisbane doesnt even have a building that is at least 300m tall whuch is honestly sad. @@jacobcornford4023 Melbourne is really nice:) But you also have absolutely no idea what you’re saying either. I don’t understand why we have to even compare 🤷🏽‍♂️. We should be grateful that we live in such an incredible country with amazing cities.
      Your comment on “no architectural style”, Melbourne isn’t really known for its original *house* style architecture. Where as the architectural style in Queensland of houses known as ‘Queenslanders’ is and is uniquely to that state. Having “skyscrapers and tall buildings” isn’t a flex 😂. That’s not a unique ‘architecture’ to have, and in fact, skyscrapers can be big eyesores and preserve no historic architecture to the city at all, but destroy it...
      Brisbane now has the largest airport capacity of any other airport in Australia - and actually has connected rail link services to and from the city. Melbourne still doesn’t have a train station to the airport 🤨, although I believe they’re finally looking into it.
      Also Brisbane is not able to have a building over “300m” because of height and flight path restrictions - and if this project was any clue on what Brisbane is capable of doing, they would’ve definitely built one by now, so that’s not “sad” 😂. And please Melbourne just welcomed its first 300m+ building last year. What is sad is that it’s taken that long for a city of that size and growth to finally reach that milestone when the Gold Coast built one almost 16 years ago at a fraction of the population - which still remains the tallest to this day. Regardless Melbourne is beautiful and I used to visit all the time pre-COVID.

The q1 tower is like actually like 290m which is all floors then there is a pole stuck on top of it to take the the title, otherwise that building is not even areas 300m. The australia 108 and eureka skydeck are both 300+m tall with no pole on top of them. Both the Eureajs Skydeck and Q1 tower started construction in the same year. And did uk that the eureka skydeck has the highest observation deck in the southern hemisphere? You should know what u r talking before u talk aswell.

    • @chevy5755
      @chevy5755 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jacobcornford4023 Oh mate, I know exactly what I’m talking about. The Eureka Tower’s official height is 297.3m. That’s its official recorded height confirmed by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. That extra “tip” is a small lighting rod needed to combat lightning damage in bad weather - because the Eureka has a flat roof line , this is needed. And it isn’t uncommon either 😂. Many buildings have this as it is literally a requirement for safety reasons. It’s something that no one talks about though and it isn’t included in the buildings offical height as it’s just an antenna 😂. I don’t know why you’re trying to bring that up it’s exactly like movies and their box office - no one counts for inflation when finding box office numbers otherwise everything is useless.
      Buildings like the Q1 however are unique in that the lighting rod (spire) is actually built into the building’s structural component and is one of its main architectural noticeable pieces. This is however registered by The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat as this feature forms part of the building and was developed in the early stages of design and was not added in as an extra for safety measures 🤣. Still, I think it’s quite cool that they started construction in the same year, but who took the title? A record is a record. Did you know that the Q1 was the tallest residential building in the world upon completion, tallest building in the Southern hemisphere, and tallest in Australia (still is)? Having said all this, it’s not that serious, I was only trying to piss you off 😂. But I really want Melbourne to build a taller building than the Q1, well anyone really. I love the Q1 but it’s had its title for too long now, and the Gold Coast doesn’t get as near as much investment and development like Melbourne does, maybe in the future, but for now Melbourne is likely the only city in Australia to achieve such a thing. So I hope those new twin towers in South Bank are actually built!

      I'm assuming you're referring to to Riverside Expressway seen in the video. It was built in the 1970's and was the first of what was to be part of a vast network of motorways across the city. However, after this and the pacific motorway were built (which takes you all the way to Sydney), there were protests at the destruction of neighbourhoods on the southside and most of the planned motorways were cancelled. Ironically, they have since built these motorways now, but as tolled tunnels.... There have been talks about demolishing the expressway and tunnelling it, but it would be prohibitively expensive. Currently underneath the expressway is desolate and unsafe and the Queens Wharf Project is revitalising the area underneath thankfully

    What about the cross river rail tunnel, clem7 etc.. My home city has some epic building works.
    Tho I give the crown to that underwater floating car tunnel to connect Norway, cutting travel time drastically.
