- Socotra is hands-down one of the most epic places I've been to. On my recent trip to this Yemeni island with Welcome to Socotra, I spent an unforgettable 2 weeks camping, hiking, swimming and exploring.
In Socotra, on a remote beach, I met a modern-day Robinson Crusoe. This man lives alone, isolated from the rest of the world, and I want to tell you about his life.

Socotra Island is an impoverished Island in the world. It was neglected by previous successive Yemeni governments since the British left Aden in 1967. Only since 2015 when the internal civil war in Yemen kicked off that suddenly this place has become a significant place and in particular when the Emaraties decided to invest in a part of Island in schools, hospitals, airport etc that the focus was on Socotra and its people.

This war if it Continues its like to damage KSA relationship with UAE, as it start showing as UAE is pulling out its troop and hanging ksa high and dry.

@christine a hi, there is a regular flights, I think 2 times weekly from Aden city to Socotra island , but under the last situations and recent crisis in Yemen I don't recommend to you to travel to.

The fact that his guest room is his favorite part of his whole house says a lot about who he is as a person. (After all, if he likes the room so much, he could just make it his own.)
I miss the island it has been 35 years since I used to be there I wish I can visit again. The hospitality of the locals is amazing, they get so excited when we knock on their doors and tell them we are guests. I don’t know how much it changed over the years. I am watching this video with tears in my eyes.

I love Yemen so much I was born there and moved to America. For the first time since I was a little girl, I visited it in 2019 as well, didn't go to Socotra sadly, but you just lived it for me and I thank you so much for that! it really is a place of beauty and peace ❤️

Thank you, really thank you for showing part of my father’s country, I’ve never seen or heard about. It was most magnificent vlog I’ve ever seen and couldn’t take my eyes off screen even for minute. You’re polite and sincere person and it really comes across not just on video but how you dealt with local people. Yemeni people are gracious even with small means, they’re still find ways to honour guests and greet them in hospitable manner. Alhamdullilah.

What i love about this island is how it has endemic species of fauna and flora and unique landscapes, it looks so much like early earth, even before the dinosaurs, going to that place is in my to do list before im gone for sure.

Coincedently, while watching this vlog in a coffee shop, a lovely Yemeni girl stopped me to introduce herself as she has watched the video before. Yemenis are some of the kindest in the Arab world. I looked up her hometown on the map, Taizz, Yemen, which is in the very Southern end of Arabia. Lovely coincidence!

I'm moroccan (arab) , pure blood of a clan named oudaya army in morocco , our root are from yemen , i lived with yemen peoples 6 months in china and i can tell you , they have a rocky brain and not good to live with at all . except that (ti3iz) or (tiizz )region , people from there are smile laughing spontaneously , i liked them , else houdeida people are not that good
