  • Today I share my review of Pepetools 110mm Rolling Mill from Ultra Series with the demo of how to use the rolling mill! I've created a pair of earrings to show you the embossing technique, which so far has been my favourite. Check out the video to see the effect and hear my thoughts.

      yes!! this set from Lidl was such an awesome find, I love it :) Great value for money, because the stands themselves are usually more expensive. As for the mill, this is a great size and works so smoothly 😍 Definitely recommend it!

      Stardust Mine Jewellery woke up. Early and can't sleep and saw I'm missed this comment sorry. Yeah I was delighted with my lidl purchase, was great value. An im all about good deals and shopping smart like I knoe u are too 😉 it pays to be smart and not frivolous!! I would love to know more about this mill about the price if u want to DM the details to me on Instagram maybe if u didn't want to say here. I don't mind which ever. I was checking some on Cooksons but I don't know. The smallest looked D too small and the next was far more expensive, but yours looked like some where in the middle an yours looked much better quality!! So that's why I'd like to look into this one.. Thanks Basia sorry I missed your reply, have a Great weekend 😉

    • @TheArtOfMetalsmithing
      @TheArtOfMetalsmithing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ken_Dalton no worries! We're all busy, I'm usually replying even after few days myself 😊 Yeah, totally agree. It's all about being smart and making thoughtful purchases. I'm all for getting things when we need them and getting as much as possible from what we have. But sometimes upgrades are excellent and can take us to the next level, so I'm not that crazy about saving and waiting haha. So this mill is available on Amazon in the UK, I believe it's dispatched by Micro Tools, European partner and dealer of Pepetools. On Amazon I think the price is about £592.34 so it's not the cheapest tool. But if you know you're going to use it and create new designs, then by all means go for it! :) I try to live by the rule that says, if you pay cheap, you pay twice (or something along these lines). So it's always better to invest in actual proper equipement that will last a lifetime instead of buying cheapest option first and then having to invest anyway. I've learned this the hard way!

    • @Ken_Dalton
      @Ken_Dalton 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stardust Mine Jewellery another thing in common u don't like to save or wait 😂 😂. I can save but I do like to spend an I call "retail therapy" so it don't seem as bad lol.. I totally get u about getting what u paid for in life, and certain tools I'd buy cheap but the more important ones youre right it's best to spend top dollar an get a life time of work from them. Thank u for telling me about it, I know some don't like to talk about prices here so I appreciate u letting me know I'll take a look there for this, I do like the combination aspect to this and the roller size is just right!. I definitely need to get a mill bcoz I want to be able to Do engagement rings with shanks of various thickness at certain points and to be able to make wire is such a bonus, I have a 3 ounce bar I made of solid pure silver that iv have cut pieces off and have to take it to a friend's shop to roll out if I need to, which is a pain really, Thank u for sharing your pearls of wisdom with us all and your kind words. So nice of u 😊🤗

    Hiya Basia I hope you're ok? What a great video and earrings... Pepe were correct to send you the mill as you are very much an up and coming artist and one to watch and not just the films. Did you dry the leaves yourself or buy them? The view at the end of some of your work was great as is the work, I'm envious of your ability to design and then build such wonderful looking jewellery. I may end up able to build nice things but my design gene never developed, therefore I can copy but not originate such beauty. Hopefully more firms will see your potential as a designer, builder and video maker and support you in the same way??? I think you and your work have indeed been sprinkled with Stardust and long may you continue... Take care...

      Hiya dear lady, you are more than welcome as I call it as I see it. For a major supply house from the States to help some one living and working here in England says a lot, it's not just the items them selves but shipping as well, a good investment in you and your potential. They can see as a lot of us do that your channel will grow and you will be an influence on many potential customers of theirs for many years to come. I loved the pendant you were wearing and the way you had cut out around her hair to lift her from the background whilst adding a third level around the face, very cleaver and shows a keen vision.Take care...@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing

      Basia, do you remember I advised you the circuit board thermal transfer paper? It can be used for one interesting technic with rolling mills for stamping anything what you want on the silver surface. First, print a picture on this paper using a laser printer, then transfer it on *copper* sheet by an ordinary smoothing-iron and coat another side of copper with any acid resistant paint. Thereafter etch it in solution of your choice - there are a few prescription of it by this link: radiokot.ru/lab/hardwork/62/ (just choose your language on the top right), whereat remove the paint by acetone and roll your silver with the etched copper stamp. Do it and enjoy!

    • @user-pd7cq666
      @user-pd7cq666 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      P.S. For small pieces it's possible to use adhesive tape
      instead of the paint for copper backside protection.
