Hi all! In this video I'll show you my favourite attachments for rotary tool. There are many flex shaft accessories available and it can be quite overwhelming to choose between them. It's best to try and experiment with different ones, to see which bits might work best for you. But knowing where to start can ease the process, so I hope this video will help you choose your first rotary tool and pendant motor attachments! Enjoy watching :)

If you're struggling to understand the attachments for the pendant rotary tool and what they're all for, I hope this video helps to clarify things! It's taken me some time to grasp it too, but now it all makes sense. There's many bits that essentially do the same job, so it takes some experimenting to see which ones will be best for your needs. And then you can build your own set and use it for different stages!

My question is: if I have a tumbler (as well as a tumbler) do you find it’s still necessary/a good idea to get the polishing bits? I’m looking more for the best attachments for sanding & finishing work versus buffing & polishing. That said, would the first bunch you talked about be good for the sanding/finishing process? As I mentioned on Instagram already I just discovered your channel but I am so thankful I did 🙏❣️ Thank you for sharing all your experiences and thank you for helping other people developing their skills. I am in making macrame jewellery and also a bit of Electroforming but I am so interested in silversmithing but will probably start with copper pieces to practice. I will have to wait before I can buy all the tools I need but I am looking forward to it ❣️

Stardust Mine Jewellery thank you for answering 🙏 I think I will start off with copper to practice before using silver and to see if I like it. I have the problem that I can't draw at all and feel it's essential for designing 😱😂 Maybe I'll take a course.
@@HannahinL Not necessarily, it depends on what you would like to make! :) There are many designs you can make with a simple drawing or even without, so don't let that stop you :) The course is a great idea too, you'll learn all the basics and will feel much more confident. Good luck!
Hiya, I'm glad you've found Basia you can learn a lot from her. Watch her video on basic tools also 'At the bench' and 'Soham Harrison' for their basic tools but you can learn so much from these three silversmiths on design and technique. I started with bead jewellery and am now doing silver. Yes the tools can be in the 'Ouch' range but there are others that work without paying for a name. Watch review videos to learn what are worth your investment, also going through the supply company web sites to see the full range, budget tools are not all bad but the best are often from Germany and Switserland. The price often tells the story. Would I buy Fretz hammers? Never at their price, I've been using different hammers all my working life and flash wood is not worth a high price. Cooksongold is a very good supply house for tools and all the metals we've been on about, as I live in the UK they are the only one I've had a lot to do with. Take care and good luck...

I loooove the pumice wheels, I recently accidentally got too near the stone in my bezel (turquoise) and it grinded into it, even the fine grey pumice grinded right into it O_O was not expecting that as all the other stones that have been in contact with the pumice have been unaffected, I'm not sure if the turquoise was just very soft turquoise or if all turquoise is just too soft to be touched by them, I am not sure. Off to purchase the other silicone ones (white, black, blue, pink) tomorrow! Can't wait! Thank you once again for your videos :D
Turquoise is 5-6 on the mohs hardness scale. Pumice is 6-6.5 on the mohs hardness scale, so yes pumice could damage turquoise.
great video again flower, hiya have you tried the diamond grinding bits not only do they shave of access metal but they also can give a beautiful mat finish to a piece if used carefully, I use them quite often to do that, you take care flower keep up the good work.

hi Basia I love the pumice stones too. i got a kit off rio and it's amazing! same with the foredom!! I just got mine a few weeks ago and why did I wait so long?!!
sometimes it takes us some time to realise we actually do need something and that it's a good way to spend the money lol 😆 I'm always double guessing my purchases while they're not yet complete, and often I'm just like that when something arrives - why didn't I get it earlier?? hahaha

quick question, my flex shaft on my pendant motor keeps heating up, do you know why this may be and how I could resolve this
Hmm, I've never had that issues, but maybe it could be due to the lack of proper grease/oil? You could ask a shop or a manufacturer of the flex shaft about this, I think they should be able to help you. Hope you find the answer 🙏 Good luck!
As always great video! How do I find that holder? Is it called a “bit holder”? Even though we can use for flexshaft attachments ?

I just found all my dads tools from his lapidary kit. Including a Fordham motor, long cable with attachment tool and still looking for all the attachments. Lucky me huh? Stardust Mine Jewellery thank u...I’ve checked out Amazon and ordered some of the pieces u suggested. I will send pictures of my soldered jump rings for ur observation and critique. I use silver 18 and 20 gauge half round...but I am going to try and make silver rings with my raw hide mallet I ordered and a mandrill. I have a hand held mandrill but I need one that expands...lots of money huh? Bless u and thank u for ur wonderful personality and assistance.
I'm sure it will all go well! :)) And yes, that indeed takes a lot of money, but it is a specific field, so it's unavoidable. However there are ways to be smart about it, there are places where we can buy second hand tools (like facebook gropups etc), modify other ones and slowly gather everything that's needed ⭐
Are the wire brushes strictly for texturing?
I really like your videow, I bought most of tools as you suggested. So I bought Foredom Pendant motor and Parkside attachment kit, but I found these 2 are not compatible.How did you solve this problem?
Hiya, in what way? Do you mean the shafts don't fit the handpiece? Quick-release handsets have a fixed, I think it's 3/32 'hole' If that is the problem you may need an H30, that's what it's called here, handset. It has a chuck like a larger power drill that you close with a key. These handsets take everything I've needed to fit, and are used in a lot of accessories made by Fordom. I hope this helps, sorry Basia didn't reply to you but the pressure of work sometimes catches up with her.

hiya flower I bought a knock of made in china Fordham pendant moter 100 pounds saving me at least 180pounds, I have had this now for about 2years and it is still doing everything I ask of it, my bugbear and what narks me is what makes Fordham and all these other big name products on the market is you are paying for the name and that in my book is wrong, if joe blogs is selling a tool for 20 pounds of self same specifications and quality as mr j fancy stuff who is selling the self same thing at 300pounds I know where I will go, another example I bought a wax waterproof jacket 20 odd pounds if I had bought a top name product at the self same spec well over 200 pounds no way will I pay that kind of money I cant even afford that amount, anyway rant finished great vlog you take care and I look forward to seeing your pretty face again.
