"Invocamos a virgem Maria e o Santo padre Pio de Pietrelcina para que roguem a Deus que nenhuma injustiça seja cometida nesse programa." Que Deus o tenha em sua infinita misericórdia e justiça, prof. Olavo!
"Boa noite, meus amigos. Como sempre começamos o programa invocando a santíssima virgem Maria e o Santo Padre Pio de Pietrelcina para que roguem a Deus que nenhuma injustiça se cometa nesse programa."
Mine too. I played in my high school band and this was our favorite graduation march. All of the musicians loved it above the others. I was in a ROTC military high school.
This is the finest representation of Edwardian England at its zennith. My landlord used to listen to it on the weekends at his studio after his mandatory tea time and crumpets in Colchester, Essex.
Elgar was a genius and a self taught one at that. A piece for every mood. For me however his best work was the Enigma Variations. Nimrod could bring a tear to the eye of the devil himself which is why it`s the semi official anthem for our Commonwealth war dead.
This March No. 4 by Sir Edward Elgar was played as Prince Charles & Lady Diana walked down the Isle in Church after their Ceremony. It was a Beautiful number for them after they were Married. It's my Favorite of all the Five Pomp & Circumstances Matches. Jean Mooney
NBC TV here in the States used this theme for their coverage of the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981. And the next morning, I heard the full orchestral version during the recessional.
I first learned the words to this impressive and beautiful piece of music as a teenager, many years ago, and it, along with the glorious Nimrod have stayed firm favourites, ever there to turn to when spirits need a boost.
Wow!!! With the name Rosario your family is not originally from Great Britain. However, your comment perfectly sums up everything that I value most about my beloved country. Thank you.
In royal context, awarding of honours and peership titles are called investiture but not ceremony. It is so-called because the sovereign invests his/her subjects high offices or honourable titles due to their contributions and services toward society.
I believe it’s mostly used at the moment of the departure of the monarch, this was also played when Queen Elizabeth was leaving at the end of her diamond jubilee service.
While the trio strain of No. 1 is certainly commanding and memorable, if only due to its eternal bind with graduation ceremonies, the equivalent in No. 4 speaks just as broadly of England as does No. 1, just in a more fluid fashion.
Listening to this music is going back to 1981 when Her Royal Highness Diana married Prince Charles in Westminster Abbey, a beautiful wedding of the Princess of Wales.
A much better British national anthem could be created from this magnificent piece of music. Along with suitable lyrics I’m certain people would be delighted to sing it out with pride and gusto.
This piece became popular during the WW2, know as "Song of Liberty". Here are the lyrics: Verse 1: Fight for freedom, ev'ryone. Build the ship and man the gun. Do as you have never done To set the peoples free. We, the few, the happy free, Will fly the flags of Liberty, Blow the horns of Liberty! Liberty! Till the world is free. Chorus 1: All men must be free. March for Liberty with me. Brutes and braggarts may Have their little day, We shall never bow the knee. God is drawing his sword. We are marching with the Lord. Sing, then, brother, sing, Giving ev'rything, All you are and hope to be, To set the peoples free. Verse 2: Wake and watch and work and win, Fight and farm and sew and spin, Fall the faithful people in To set the peoples free. But the day the battle's won, Never say the fight is done. Make the world a better one! Better one! When the world is free. Chorus 2 All men must be free. March for Liberty with me. Brutes and braggarts may Have their little day, We shall never bow the knee. God is drawing his sword. We are marching with the Lord. Sing, then, brother, sing, Giving ev'rything, All you are and hope to be, To take the torch across the sea And set the peoples, Keep the peoples free.
Ohh lovey, I really enjoyed listening to that on Saturday being played at the king’s coronation. Brilliantly done. Thank u Elgar fir writing that tune .
Tonight i discovered this along with P&C no1 on the jukebox in the pub so guess what I will be putting on the jukebox on Saturday also some Andy Stewart songs as well
This was MY graduation music. It pissed off the public who weren't expecting it. My orchestra director thought it was better, and so do I. I laugh every time I remember the reactions.
Can remember Prince Charles and Princess Diana walking down the aisle at the end of the wedding on 29 July 1981. Watching at night time as I live in New Zealand 🇳🇿. As a tubby sheep and beef farmer's daughter.

The only positive thing to be said about that is: at least it wasn't used over footage of violence or sexual assault. Only for some ironic or subversive purpose during Alex's reception at the prison (not a part of the book, by the way - the whole sequence is an addition of Kubrick's).
Been trying to find this song for years now finally found it 🎉 playing at The Kings coronation
Make you right on this one...sole reason I'm here too 😊
Same! There it was at last at the coronation - and identified in the program ❤

It seems there are a few people who prefer this to the better known No.1 march. I am one of them !
As am I!
Third fan of P&C 4 here!
Also prefer No. 4!
I place them on an equal footing.
me too. it really is superb.
Nothing better to get the patriotic juices flowing on this coronation day than a piece by Elgar.
God Save the King! 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🇬🇧
Noble, yet with that indefinable melancholy that can find its way into truly memorable English music. Elgar was
a master of that sort of music making.

Out of all of Sir Edward Elgar`s Pomp & Circumstance marches the forth march is my favourite. It`s so beautiful and incredibly noble.😀
Yes, it really is beautiful, and stirring.
Yes, No. 1 and No. 4 is really good, but No. 2 and No. 3, most people just forget about them.
Mine too. I played in my high school band and this was our favorite graduation march. All of the musicians loved it above the others. I was in a ROTC military high school.
IT IS UNDOUBTEDLY ABOUT the height of British history and the Empire - good and bad ( mostly bad , but not all )
My mum is new to classical music at the tender age of 82. This piece is one of her favourites right out of the gate. Good choice mum.

the difference between this and other performances is in the phrasing and finesse - BRILLIANT!
I think this is better than No. 1

It is a beautiful piece.
He is a great conductor. Down to earth and easy to follow.
Doubt it! Just different. To the Great British Empire. The greatest force good in the world!
Most defiantly but sounds so much nicer on an organ tbh

NBC TV here in the States used this theme for their coverage of the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981. And the next morning, I heard the full orchestral version during the recessional.
In the Uk it is also well known as the war widows match
It’s really one of the music from their wedding (when they walked together to depart the church)
@@cnamand, that’s what recessional means - music played when striding out of a church service or ceremony.
heard this today at the coronation

It is magnificent and totally suited to the happy occasion. So regal, elegant, and powerful.

This sounds majestic and processional. Makes me think of an awards ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
