Great video! It seems that a lot of people decided to do gerbil care videos at the same time, I uploaded mine last week, and I saw some other people doing so as well! I love the way you have edited the video, you have got some great shots of your gerbils.
These are the luckiest most spoiled pet gerbils I've ever seen. I love that you encourage their natural behaviors and give them such a varied diet. Anyone with any interest in keeping these animals HAS to see your videos. :)
I'm am going to be adopting a gerbil from a pet store (family owned and they take really good care of them) and they've found that she doesn't like being with other gerbils, but she loves being handled by people and is the sweetest thing. I'm getting a 29 gallon tank from a friend for her and I'm starting to collect some more supplies this week.
Fantastic video!! Your habitat is just incredible and really mimic's their natural habitat and way of life. They look really happy and healthy. Great job. I have one question though. You said not to change the bedding too often.....How long do you recommend between changing?
+Gary Ryckewaert Thank you so much! When I give the gerbils a really deep layer, I would change it probably once a month, now I am changing it about every 2-3 weeks :)
In germany they recommended not to change for 12 weeks up to 5 MONTHS!! Since they build a big tunnel system it is very interesting to watch them building their city...
Omg I love ur videos. Before I started to watch ur videos I didn't have a clue about gerbils hamsters and guinne pigs because I'm more into horse and dogs but ur animals amaze me so much thanks for making ur videos.😍😍😍😍😋😋😋
The first song is called "Happiness" by Bensound. But besides that, your gerbils seem to live in paradise! This is what I strive for whenever I finally have the funds to take on something like this
Ive always been confused about tank/cage size for gerbils. Most things ive read have said 10 gallons for one 5 gallons for each additional gerbil. I have 2 gerbils in a tank thats about 40 gallons and 1 in a tank thats about 64 gallons. Obviously the bigger the tank the better, but not everyone can afford or has room for the size tank you are suggesting
Mit opinion is, that you shouldn't have animals if you haven't much space. I'm from Germany, so I don't know 'Gallon', but I can't understand, why people have animals in small cages. I'm sure, they don't want to live in a small room.. Rodents are "small", but they need much space! My gerbils (I have 3) live in a 120cmx60cmx60cm Cage and they are happy. And i couldn't be happy, if they would live in a small cage. And you can see, that your animals are happier in a big cage, because they can dig etc:) And some people have (for example) 5 hamsters in small cages. If they don't have much space for big cages, they shouldn't have 5 hamsters! I hope it's okay, that I wrote my opinion 😁 :)
MySweetGerbils I couldn't have put that better! I completely agree with everything you said. Too many people think it's acceptable to house rodents in small cages because 'the pet shops sell them' and because 'they don't need much room as they are only small'. It's a big problem and I hope that one day pet shops sell larger cages as I think they have a big influence on the way we care for our pets :)
Most of the breeders in my country (Netherlands) warn about the size though. The say it can be too big, causing the gerbils to create different, competing territoria inside the cage, which can lead to fights. However most of the stories I hear from Germany is that they advice bigger cages then that they do in the Netherlands. It's a bit confusing but I think that if you are bright minded you can probablly figure out when a cage is too small.
You can buy it online but it is expensive, honestly though it’s worth it since you can use it for hamsters and if you diy the lid mice you can also use it for guinea pigs but I recommend a big larger. But if you are still interested you can search up living world eco habitat
Very informative, thank you. I just adopted 3 gerbils the other day (all from the same litter and all male) The cage I got seems a little small for three (especially since they don't climb through the plastic tubes) but they all fit in the igloo and they seems to be eating and drinking when they need it. I am thinking of upgrading to a glass house like in the video so I can put more bedding and then add some wood and cool stuff for them to climb on and through.
For veggies I would do a variety of different safe vegetables given a small amount every day or a larger amount every 2/3 veggies! Fruits not as often~ hope I could help
Very nice video! They are so cute. We always had gerbils and decided to adopt 2 from a shelter a week ago because we missed them so much. Who needs television when you have gerbils? :D

this video is clearly meant for if you can afford all these things actually having a gerbil and affording regular gerbil food and a cage is way cheaper than going all out im sure if youre rich you can do this but try making a video for the people who have gerbils simply because they are in expensive!
Thank you! Today my mom gave me two gerbils as a surprise, and as I am very happy, I have no idea what to do. I just changed the spot of their cage to be in front of my window so they could get enough light, and I'm gonna use my toilet paper roll of card board to help them with their names. Hi. What types of dried flowers and seeds are you using for your gerbils in part 2:42 of your video where you sprinkle around their cage ? Your videos are very helpful and nice to watch. Thanks.
I really want gerbils, I had 2 when I was little (mostly my Dad's responsibility, as I was too young to look after them), then after them I got 3 more who I looked after fully, and it's been a few months since my oldest passed, and I want more, but Mum and Dad say i'm too old to be interested (i'm only 14) (but i'm clearly interested in having them) and I should focus on my dog, whom I looked after just fine whilst I had my gerbils aswell. I'm really upset about it, but pleased to see yours happy and well :)
My sister had two gerbils, one of them died. Now, Topas is alone because if we would have adopted a new one, the probability of them killing each other would have been very high. That's why we trie to make his home as wonderful for him as possible and cuddle with him if he needs it. I had a Gerbil her name was KitKat Kitt for short she lived for 7 years which was very surprising and when she died I cried so much but my mom still made me go to school

I got two gerbils on the 24th of May this year T^T They're so cute, one was not tame because he was scared of me but thanks to one of your other videos I've managed to tame him :3
My parents don’t see the point in a big cage for gerbils because apparently when they were younger their gerbils had small cages as they are only small but I don’t agree as how would I like it being stuck in a small room all my life and rarely being let out so I just buy my cages with my own money so that I can get a big cage for my babies
I have two gerbils (Archie and Bibbles) and they live in the IKEA Detolf display cabinet. I love your videos because you give me some good information which helps me allot
+TheDerpiestNinja Hey did you tip it on it's side and take out the shelves? Because I need a bigger tank for mine and this is a pretty good price for me :) Um also how deep is it?
The main problem I had with my gerbils is they destroy everything. No matter how many chew toys or other things I give them to chew on, they always inevitably start destroying their shelves and houses. Bendy bridges get reduced to the wire within weeks. I had to give them a sandbath made from an old mug because everything else they would chew holes in and all the sand would fall out. I even had to replace their wheel several times because they would chew wooden ones into splinters and will even start nibbling on plastic or rubber ones after a while. Definitely the most difficult rodents to care for, in my opinion. Very cute and energetic though.
What a fabulous set up!! I thought I would just point out for people that don't know much about gerbils, that males can happily live in groups but females are usually best kept in pairs :) There are of course exceptions to the rule but they're more likely to become territorial and more likely to fight in larger groups. I've had experience of this myself! I also wouldn't advise feeding much cucumber or othery watery veg as too much water content can lead to diarrhoea :/ I wish there were more gerbil care videos online! :) x
Hi, I have an important question. When my gerbils pee in their sand bath is makes the sand gross and stick to the bottom of the bowl, but in the video there was no sand stuck to the bottom of your bowl. Am I using the wrong kind of sand or what? And even if it didn’t stick to the bottom, how would you filter out the pee when cleaning?
No, you're not using the wrong sand, just she didn't film it or her gerbils do not pee on the sand. Of course you cannot filter the pee, that's why it's important to change it once a week/ every 5 days so that the pee you cannot take out doesn't make the sand accumulate the amonia. A tip to take out the stuck by pee sand is to take it out with a spoon, easy .
I bought a Gerbil while I was high asf named him Richard and have no clue wtf to do thank you for this video

My parents don’t see the point in a big cage for gerbils because apparently when they were younger their gerbils had small cages as they are only small but I don’t agree as how would I like it being stuck in a small room all my life and rarely being let out so I just buy my cages with my own money so that I can get a big cage for my babies
I have 2 gerbils and got a cage that I got at the pet shop ,never seen an enclosure like that before xx
Great Video Erin!! I Wish This Uploaded Sooner, Because My Friends (who had gerbals) had a tiny cage for 2. They died really quickly. xx

+Kris Bouwman yes it is my gerbils really love their new cage so it is worth it
+Aoife Lakey yes i did tip its on its side and taken out the shelves. The depth is 13cm. :)
What is the price for 2 gerbils? how often do i clean the bedding and substract?
This was really interesting and helpful! Great video x
I hope you understand me, im not really good explaining my self in English
l g, yes I did understand, thank you so much!
