I saw bmth and architects about 7 times from 2008-2013 in Canada. Back when it was like $18 no cover to see a show lol. Did a meet and greet with bmth once as well, they were super chill back in 2011. Crazy they're still around and doing so well.
Hearing Mike say Thrice and Under0ath were two of the first screaming bands he first heard that influenced TDWP warms my heart bc though I love all three, TDWP was the band that got me into Metalcore in the first place.
@@mementomori2839 Act of Depression and Cries of the Past definitely influenced Dear Love: A Beutiful Discord. All three have such a dark and spooky mood.

The reason I liked TDWP at first was because they sounded so similar to underoath, and TDWP was the band that bridged the less heavy metalcore to deathcore for me. Makes a lot of sense
If Hope Dies, Still Remains and Bleeding Through are criminally underrated metalcore bands that should have gotten more recognition. Kudos to Devil wears Prada for including them.
Our band played with Beloved back in Kernersville NC they were straight up Bible thumping metalcore, they even had invitations at there shows to find salvation, our name was Zeteo we unfortunately never got signed lol but we played with Beloved ALOT, and then played with Underoath 1x before the changing of times era...they were straight up Christian Deathcore almost before Deathcore was a thing lol
what an awesome and relatable interview for anyone born in the 80s-90s lol. I never would've put money back in 2007 on what heavy bands would still be kicking in 2023.
I think that Underoath Changing of Times was inspired from the innovations of Prayer For Cleaning's album Rain in Endless Fall(members of BTBAM) a year earlier. If you like this Underoath album, listen to Minus' album Jesus Christ Bobby from 2001. That was equally as life changing to me
Pass the Flask is definitely one of the most underrated metalcore albums. It's still an example of the gold standard in the genre. Also, this is Love... This is Murderous, that album still holds up and can give anything modern or since, a run for their money.
I have no idea why but I went into this video hoping they'd mention Symphony in Peril. Was surprised but very satisfied to see that they did. The Whore's Trophy is a dang good record that doesn't get the recognition it deserves, and even though I heard Stilletto for the first time from a "drive-by moshpit" video on Facebook like 5 years after that record came out it was still influential to me. Always thought Beloved was a regional NC-core band, because I moved from NC for work and while I met metalcore fans elsewhere, none of them ever heard of Beloved. Glad to see them get some attention.
Underoath had a MUCH better singer on The Changing of Times than They're Only Chasing Safety and then they got what's his name haha I can't remember either of their singers names now. The guy they have now I could never take him seriously I loved Underoath til they released TOCS then I was like nahhhhh they got to safe for me...I was always into heavier stuff though. And props to TDWP for never recanting on their Christian Beliefs even after the beef with Behemoth's Nergal...Nergal is just a man...everyone seems so afraid of him and a skinny little man at that who does Yoga and worships Satan hahaha now that's just funny in some way!
@@allencarey7336 soooo much wrong with this comment lmao 1.
