    Thanks for acknowledging the seat depth Alex! Auto makers have been stiffing us tall folks on seat depth lately. There is zero thigh support for us on most new models. I appreciate you acknowledging it. Now if you start throwing a tape measure on seat depth reviews I would be elated! I also really appreciate you including the decibels! Quite is important as some of us start losing our hearing to hear our passengers talking, so i really like that you include the noise level! Thanks for great all around reviews.

    I suspect back seat “double pass through” is the shared heritage of Maybach and S-class. Maybach has an optional fridge that snaps into the pass through behind the second door.

    I don't understand why anyone would want low profile tires on American road. On German, Japanese, Chinese, Singaporean, Emirati road; maybe. On American road is simply asking for $2000 wheel and tire replacement every year

      Which is nothing compared to how much this coats and the exorbitant prices for maintenance and repairs, which will be frequent. I agree that they're stupid, though. They hurt the ride and make you look like a rap star.

      Totally agree. Had too many bad experiences w popped tires or bent wheels on poor NYC potholes. Especially now the newer cars don’t come w a spare wheel, any mishap turns into a big ordeal. 2 yrs ago I was stranded overnight on a road trip bc a pothole popped my tire over a long holiday weekend when all the tire shops were closed and I had no spare to use.

    The EQS is for younger, more hip buyers, the S class (and especially maybach) is for older and classier buyers. The differences in design are for their very obvious demographic differences.

      All due to the stupid low-profile tires. To keep the wheels from being damaged they need stiff sidewalls, and there isn't as much air to provide cushioning. In a sports car that tradeoff makes sense, but not in a big, cushy luxury cruiser. I'd take 19" wheels if I could. The loss of handling prowess would be minor. Frankly, I also think they look better, too.

      @damilolaakanni 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I expect that at some point Mercedes would shoehorn the EQS motors into this. An electric S class that looks like an actual S class.

    • @guerro327
      @guerro327 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@damilolaakanni If they could do that, they would already be doing it. By the time you rearrange all the ICE specific bits of the car to accommodate the battery and electric motor, it's cheaper and better from an engineering standpoint to just build a BEV from ground up.

    • @markmiller3279
      @markmiller3279 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@guerro327 Exactly. By that point we'll be several years down the road and it will be time for a next-gen S-Class. This time round they are giving us the EQS in that size and price range. In another few years Mercedes can see how demand and battery technology are trending in deciding what to offer next time around.

    • @LilRick96
      @LilRick96 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Because you're sleeping on the G90. I want you to look at the 2023 G90 press event that went on yesterday and see what it offers starting at $75k. Power closed doors, Extended nappa leather, air suspension, massage seats, the stately design etc. The current G90 was short of perfection by just missing massage seats and just a bit more leg room. The G90 is a monster and it's gotten so much better it's crazy

    • @markmiller3279
      @markmiller3279 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because all you're looking at is brand names and you're stuck in another decade. Genesis has been making impressive cars for a few years now, and the newly introduced 2023 G90 looks like another big step forward. The previous G90 was already impressive, if not quite an S-Class.

    As time goes on and tech improves, that profile/shape weirdness of EVs won’t be necessary and designers will have more freedoms. Same way how you needed that ugly Prius shape to get 50 mpg but today you can get 50mpg in a normal car shape. Basically we’ll need a more robust charging network, faster charging, and better battery tech so electric cars don’t have to look weird to be practically efficient.

    • @markmiller3279
      @markmiller3279 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not that the aerodynamic issues changed, it's that the customers did. Early hybrid buyers wanted the highest possible mileage, even if it meant weird styling, because gas mileage was the only reason to buy them. Now hybrids are just one engine option among several and sell to a broader group.od buyers who aren't as willing to drive an odd-looking car. For those who still value max efficiency, there is still the Prius (and a few others), though most of that crowd has moved on to EVs.

    • @hellkitty1014
