- This week on Swarf & Chips, Chloe and Tom take us on a tour of Cosworth Limited, an incredible machine shop that boasts an 11-machine automation cell and the most fascinating wash down you will ever see. Join us as we explore all that this amazing shop has to offer!
The Automation Cell
The first thing that strikes you when you enter the shop floor at Cosworth is the impressive 11 machine automation cell. This cell is capable of machining a variety of parts for the automotive industry, including engine blocks and cylinder heads. The machines in the cell are arranged in a linear fashion so that parts can be easily moved from one station to the next.
The Wash Down Area
Another impressive feature of Cosworth is the wash down area. This area is designed to clean parts using a high-pressure water system. The water is then recycled and reused, making the process more efficient and environmentally friendly.
The CNC Department
In addition to the automation cell and wash down area, Cosworth also has a state-of-the-art CNC department. This department is responsible for machining parts for a variety of industries, including aerospace, F1 racing, and medical.
Cosworth Limited is an amazing machine shop that is sure to impress even the most seasoned engineer. With its 11-machine automation cell, fascinating wash down area, and state-of-the-art CNC department, Cosworth is truly at the forefront of modern manufacturing. Be sure to tune in next week when Swarf and Chips takes you on a tour of another incredible shop!

I like how the chip conveyors just dump into a hole in the floor, presumably where there is another conveyor to move the chips to a central point. That's genius to me.
correct, underfloor swarf management, keeps everywhere clean and more importantly the machines just keep running. What's your company?
sad too see robots taking over man
Cosworth just went down a notch
I hear you and I absolutely agree with what I think you mean but don't forget those robots need people to program them and holy hell to then need people to fix them. There is soul in smaller machine shops building engines and until the EPA fucks that up (which they are trying) the craft will live on.
