Great video! I was wondering if you were ever able to make home visits? I know PCVs get about 2 days of vacation a month. How hard would it be to come home for a big family wedding, for example?
Going home within the first 3 months would be difficult because that's when you have training 5 days a week. After that, staying at your site for 3 months is recommended to integrate into your community. Once you have completed 6 months, it shouldn't be too hard to leave for a family wedding, but it largely depends on your sector. I was working as a teacher so I wouldn't go during the term but we did get a month off between each 10 week term. That's not to say I couldn't leave for a week. There were people in my cohort who would go home for major life events.
@@bpapesdancer Thank you so much! My daughter was just offered a PC position in Sierra Leone. Would you be open to talking with her? If so, is there a way to exchange contact info that isn't public?
@@BklynPhillipsFamily I tried to send you a direct message on TH-cam but I think you might have it disabled. You can add me on LinkedIn or Facebook and we can message from there!
The only requirements are you have to be over 18 years old and a US citizen. To be a competitive applicant you generally need a 4-year degree in a concentration similar to the position you are applying for. Here is a link to the Peace Corps website where you can find more information www.peacecorps.gov/about/agency-jobs/eligibility/
Tonkolili district and you need another government to help you get learning materials when you already have a government! What are you learning your student how to make a fool of themselves by begging?
Cat on the door!
What a wonderful video Bailey!! Looks like such a valuable experience and I am envious of your ability to do something as great as this.

I’m actually located in Illinois and I’m really interested in joining the corps, do you have any information in qualification?
