When you played through Torna, did you do it on stream or did you keep it private like you did with Future Connected? I'm hoping it's the former since it's may favorite part of the entire Xenoblade series and would love to see it on TH-cam
@@danielfuntime4859 I think it's just meant to be a metaphor, like now we see her for who she is after her and Zeke's backstory is revealed, so now we see her eyes.
In case it's still unclear, Nia was a healer Blade to begin with, her "father" was her Driver (it never says he was her Driver directly but it's what makes the most sense). Her saying she spent a lot of time at her "sister's" bedside would refer to how she was tasked with trying to heal her. When she eventually died, her father had Nia consume/implant some of her flesh, turning her into a Flesh Eater Blade. She in turn became a surrogate daughter, hence why he had Nia call him "father." Despite how positively Nia remembers him, it's fair to say the man had some serious psychological issues.
@@nsheikh17 That is certainly the other possibility, but given how sickly she was it leads to the question of why her father would have let her take the risk of touching a Core Crystal (one would imagine a rejection from the core would have a worse effect on a sickly person). It also would mean Nia would have had to have consumed/absorbed flesh from the girl before she died (as otherwise she would have returned to her core), which is possible but raises more questions.
Some NPC dialogue even reveals that he lost his title because he was using Torigoth's taxes to fund his daughter's treatment. Sweet, but definitely not in the right mind.

1:45 this whole scene has a pretty different feeling when you remember they share each other's pain... 1:48/2:12 *Pyra reacting to smacks while unconscious* Jin: The hell was that? Malos: They must be beating the hell out of the kid... 4:07 *Pyra goes flying across the room* Jin: Architectdamn did one of them send him through a wall?!
To be fair on the "empty your head" comment from Rex, it wasn't so much a "don't be anxious" but more a so a tip from an experienced Deep Sea Diver, like Rex has shown to be someone a bit too trustful and as such has no reason to think of why Nia is having difficulty breathing as he doesn't believe in her to lie to him and as such is more so just trying to help as he has had many experience in difficult to breath hard to survive situations, since deep sea diving is and can be very dangerous if not taken with care, I heard many stories of people crushed alive through pure water pressure if not followed the proper steps.
Friendly reminder that Nia's arc is about being accepted by the people she loves!! Friend zone being the immediate reaction to the cutscene makes sense and I can't fault anyone for that, but she never expected Rex to reciprocate her feelings because that's not what she was expecting or really wanting
The way this game handles identity, accepting your place in the world and overcoming the fear of doing so is really quite special. But what if you never found your place? What if your identity was never found? You may just want the world to disappear. That’s what I love about Malos’ character
That beginning of that chapter will always hit you hard. It’s such a great moment. 30:37 also the reaction i had when she said that to rex. Also poor Nia……
It really is always a pleasure watching people react to Nia being friendzoned. But yeah. She really does deserve better… Here’s hoping XC3 does her justice!
I love every chapter of this game, but chapters 7-10 really are what made xenoblade2 one of my favourite game of all time and that got me into torna dlc and xenoblade 1. Poor Nia got Melia'd

When you cry in those scenes, it reminded me how much this game made me a crybaby, whenever it was my first playthrought or each of the 5 New Game + I did. Heck, the soundtrack alone make me cry. This is an emotional journey!

Really enjoying your playthrough! This is the part of the game where the story gets crazy and doesn’t stop until the end, Xenoblade 2 is one of my favorite games ever and it’s nice to see new people giving it a chance!
What is this like the third week in a row? That's crazy! Yeah, chapter 7 is my absolute favorite of the game. So much story happens here, so much of your ability as a player is put to the test, and the payoffs are so rewarding. Plus it has the incredible title and theme: "The Fear She Carries."
Aw, I take it that since it was edited out, there was no reaction to the "Claus Experiment" tease after Rex got the sword? Bummer, but understandable. Not everyone reacts to stuff like that instantly. I just remember being really hyped once I realized what the game was setting up by teasing the connection.
Oh boy, time for "that scene"... can't wait to see Sarah's reaction! EDIT: Daaaaamn, the scene where Rex touches the sword AND Sarah's reaction to Malos using the Monado was cut, that's unfortunate I was looking forward to those two scenes :(

Chapter 7 is such a good chapter. Often considered the best in the game by the community. It solidified Rex and Pyra/Mythra as some of my favorite characters in gaming. So glad you love this game.

If I’m correct, I will include when she listened in on what Pyra told Corrine about her wanting to terminate herself due to having heard how Rex’s parents died and feeling so bad for his losses, which must’ve scared her greatly, which then induced how upset she was at Rex for repeating what Pyra said and for attempting to give up. I am thankful that Poppi was calmer than Nia and Brighid who both tackled and slapped Rex respectively. When I saw that scene, I was really worried for Rex, thank goodness Poppi was there for Rex.
I think this is my favorite episode. I've seen this particular video and many others reacting to this episode so many times. BTW, Xenoblade 3 spoilers: The friendzone that turned out to be a literal statement.
hands down, my absolute most favorite chapter in the game. a lot of feels, plot twists, it has it all. it's also at this point when the game REALLY picks up.
Ahh, The Fear She Carries is definitely my favourite chapter in the whole game. From that emotional scene at the start, with Rex being depressed and Poppi proving she's every bit as 'real' as any of the others, to the reveal of Pyra and Mythra's true form and everything in-between, everything is just so perfect! The Nia reveal is so well done too, and I actually low-key love the awkward way Rex friendzones her. As Nia says, it's just like him. Not to mention that unforgettable moment where Malos straight up pulls out a Monado, then the battle begins and he just starts popping off like "MONAADO... CYCLONE!", "MONAADO... BUSTER!" I freakin' love it SO much! Also, I remember that the fight with Jin and Malos was the only one I really struggled with when I first played. I was just about to give up thinking I just wasn't ready when that scene unexpectedly started up part way through the fight. Needless to say, it felt pretty damn good to make such short work of the two of them with the full, unrestrained power of the Aegis. IMO, only 2 things stop this chapter from being absolutely perfect. First is the phantasm fight, which I feel goes on way too long if you don't come in with a plan to defeat them all at the same time, and a first time player will not be prepared for that. The second is that I really wish they got Al Weaver to attempt another take for his Rex screams at the end of the chapter. I love that scene so much, but that "JOIN ME" always takes me out of it for a moment, which is unfortunate because he proves himself capable of some great screams in the last few chapters. Nitpicks aside, an absolutely incredible chapter! Thanks so much for all the Xenoblade vids lately, and I'm looking forward to seeing your reactions to the last few chapters as well. Keep up the great work!
Yeah none of them got any second takes or anything for base game Xenoblade 2. Didn't even have the game to lipsync to either. Voice directors didn't give much to work with, basically.
There's some post-battle dialogue between Rex and Nia after this chapter that shows Rex is not as dense as he seems. I never heard it in the game, though, probably because I had her equipped as a blade most of the time.

Nia's transformation wasn't that random. She was with Jin's crew after all. They all (except Malos) were flesheaters. And remember the moment when Vandam died? She wanted to heal him there but hesitated because she was afraid.
I genuinely love the opening of this chapter Nia and brigid do the typical anime reason you suck speech and exploit double standard abuse female on male to get rex out of his funk, and unlike anime it doesn't work and proves rex's points about himself and the situation he's in. When poppi appears like she's gonna commit murder she outright exploits everyone's reaction to call focus on why everyone followed and believed in rex even brigid and nia both feel stupid for trying the physical route. Poppi may be young but she's got the most heart out everyone and being the second female blade he's grown close too her words actually hold weight and snap rex out of his funk. A lot of players echo your sentiment that "pyras going through worse rex, stop being a bitch" but only a few realize that rex is shouldering a lot of everyone's struggles and has barely any support behind him, him giving up is the culmination of his repeated failures and everyone's expectations being too high to realistically meet. I love XC2's trope deconstruction because it plays to the stories and adds to the replay/rewatch value, you end up catching these things. I'll never not tear up at poppi supporting rex, being the one person to treat him like a human instead of a messiah archetype. Rex is only 15 he can't do much:3
Oh wow! My eyes are burning too! 🥲😭🥲It was a rollercoaster, wasn't it! We went from sympathy for Rex, sussing out Nia, laughing at Patroka, getting trolled by Derrik and now on the edge of our seats after fighting Malos and Jin!
- Here we go, one of my favorite chapters in the game. This is where Rex realizes he's more than he thinks he is, where Nia finally comes out about what she is, and where Pyra and Mythra finally get the emotional balance they desperately needed. - I really do like King Eulogimenos. He ultimately wanted to save his kingdom from suffering a cold fate, even if it meant exposing the sins of his forefathers. - Hey, uh...try to remember Pyra's/Mythra's ability to transfer their Core Crystal. - I like how the reveal on Zeke's and Pandoria's meeting with Amalthus also makes Pandy's glasses turn transparent, making her look less silly. Anyway, don't Zeke's superhuman speed/durability feats make a lot more sense now? They're more than just comical elements. - "rogue" "rogue" "rogue" "everbero" "rogue" "rogue" - Yeah, Nia's whole character arc is a "coming out" story, finding her truest friends. Both the Praetorium and Torna judged Nia simply by her being a Flesh Eater - but for Rex and co., all that mattered is not WHAT Nia is, but WHO. (...So it's kinda annoying when people throw the "BLUHH FRIENDZONE" joke over and over and over. I'm sorry, is that really as important as Nia not being persecuted?! Anyway, Nia herself never seems to mind - it's only Rex that worries over it, really. But if it makes you feel better, Rex's JP line is more about them being kindred soulmates.) - It's...kinda messed up when you consider Nia's Driver made her become a Flesh Eater simply to make her a substitute for his daughter. You saw how broken she was when he died... - Actually, Nia's design is really neat, in both modes. You know how she's always dressed in gloves, boots, and a full jumper? Pretty odd when you consider how Gormotti typically dress more lightly - and always barefoot, to boot (pun unintended). And in Blade form, her ears look more like fox ears - like a kitsune, a Japanese shapeshifter. - And again, this is where Rex realizes he doesn't have to be a powerhouse to be a strong Driver - he just needs to be a good emotional support for his Blade allies. - When you really think about it, Morag and Brighid are the most normal Driver/Blade duo of the bunch. Rex is connected to an Aegis, Nia and Zeke are human/Blade fusions, and Tora has an artificial Blade. And yet, they can keep up with the others through pure skill. - The sight of Malos slowly approaching Pyra through a dark memory-consuming fog is definitely horrifying...Makes him seem like a slasher movie villain, doesn't it? - So...do Malos's weapon and Art names sound familiar? - Also, it's kinda cool when someone can weaponize healing powers like that. And being on par with Aegises, Nia really is one of the best healers I've ever seen. "I've got just one thing to say to you. The place where I belong...is right here."
Chapter 7 is so goated. That beginning scene, Nia's transformation, Nia's true power in the Malos fight, then Pneuma's reveal. I literally don't think I've cried that many times in one chapter of a game before ever 😂 It still doesn't hold up to the end of xc2 or Torna for overall tears, but xc2 ch7 might be my favorite chapter of any game ever honestly

Fun fact: In Japanese, Homura (Pyra) means flame, Hikari (Mythra) means light, and in Greek Pneuma means spirit or breath of life. In the Japanese guide for the game the transformation (her second ascended form) is called Pneuma but they take her two names and combined them so it’s Homuri. Also, the writing on her chest during the transformation says Pneuma in Greek, but also has a passage below that translates to roughly: “Characteristics of the just path as the light becomes brighter and brighter until full day.” :)

I have to agree that the whole "romantic" angle does FEEL like a pretty random addition to this part of Nia's arc. There's really very little that directly hints it before the reveal. She was even cheering on Pyra and Rex back at the Praetorium, joking or not, instead of the regular jealous tsundere type character she had been up to that point. Probably could have done with an added scene or dialogue line here or there for a little more buildup. Nothing overt per se that would ruin the reveal, but just putting more of the building blocks in the right places. I dunno, it's hard to explain.

A minor detail I always like is how after Zeke's flashback Pandoria's glasses are no longer obscured for the rest of the game.

If I’m correct, I will include when she listened in on what Pyra told Corrine about her wanting to terminate herself due to having heard how Rex’s parents died and feeling so bad for his losses, which must’ve scared her greatly, which then induced how upset she was at Rex for repeating what Pyra said and for attempting to give up. I am thankful that Poppi was calmer than Nia and Brighid who both tackled and slapped Rex respectively. When I saw that scene, I was really worried for Rex, thank goodness Poppi was there for Rex.
I think this is my favorite episode. I've seen this particular video and many others reacting to this episode so many times.

hands down, my absolute most favorite chapter in the game. a lot of feels, plot twists, it has it all. it's also at this point when the game REALLY picks up.
Malos' VA really knows how to make the word "boy" sting.

Ahh, The Fear She Carries is definitely my favourite chapter in the whole game.
From that emotional scene at the start, with Rex being depressed and Poppi proving she's every bit as 'real' as any of the others, to the reveal of Pyra and Mythra's true form and everything in-between, everything is just so perfect! The Nia reveal is so well done too, and I actually low-key love the awkward way Rex friendzones her. As Nia says, it's just like him. Not to mention that unforgettable moment where Malos straight up pulls out a Monado, then the battle begins and he just starts popping off like "MONAADO... CYCLONE!", "MONAADO... BUSTER!" I freakin' love it SO much!
Also, I remember that the fight with Jin and Malos was the only one I really struggled with when I first played. I was just about to give up thinking I just wasn't ready when that scene unexpectedly started up part way through the fight. Needless to say, it felt pretty damn good to make such short work of the two of them with the full, unrestrained power of the Aegis.
IMO, only 2 things stop this chapter from being absolutely perfect. First is the phantasm fight, which I feel goes on way too long if you don't come in with a plan to defeat them all at the same time, and a first time player will not be prepared for that. The second is that I really wish they got Al Weaver to attempt another take for his Rex screams at the end of the chapter. I love that scene so much, but that "JOIN ME" always takes me out of it for a moment, which is unfortunate because he proves himself capable of some great screams in the last few chapters.
Nitpicks aside, an absolutely incredible chapter! Thanks so much for all the Xenoblade vids lately, and I'm looking forward to seeing your reactions to the last few chapters as well. Keep up the great work!

Yeah none of them got any second takes or anything for base game Xenoblade 2. Didn't even have the game to lipsync to either. Voice directors didn't give much to work with, basically.

There's some post-battle dialogue between Rex and Nia after this chapter that shows Rex is not as dense as he seems. I never heard it in the game, though, probably because I had her equipped as a blade most of the time.

Nia's transformation wasn't that random. She was with Jin's crew after all. They all (except Malos) were flesheaters. And remember the moment when Vandam died? She wanted to heal him there but hesitated because she was afraid.

I genuinely love the opening of this chapter
Nia and brigid do the typical anime reason you suck speech and exploit double standard abuse female on male to get rex out of his funk, and unlike anime it doesn't work and proves rex's points about himself and the situation he's in.
When poppi appears like she's gonna commit murder she outright exploits everyone's reaction to call focus on why everyone followed and believed in rex even brigid and nia both feel stupid for trying the physical route. Poppi may be young but she's got the most heart out everyone and being the second female blade he's grown close too her words actually hold weight and snap rex out of his funk.
A lot of players echo your sentiment that "pyras going through worse rex, stop being a bitch" but only a few realize that rex is shouldering a lot of everyone's struggles and has barely any support behind him, him giving up is the culmination of his repeated failures and everyone's expectations being too high to realistically meet.
I love XC2's trope deconstruction because it plays to the stories and adds to the replay/rewatch value, you end up catching these things.
I'll never not tear up at poppi supporting rex, being the one person to treat him like a human instead of a messiah archetype. Rex is only 15 he can't do much:3

Oh wow! My eyes are burning too! 🥲😭🥲It was a rollercoaster, wasn't it! We went from sympathy for Rex, sussing out Nia, laughing at Patroka, getting trolled by Derrik and now on the edge of our seats after fighting Malos and Jin!
- Here we go, one of my favorite chapters in the game. This is where Rex realizes he's more than he thinks he is, where Nia finally comes out about what she is, and where Pyra and Mythra finally get the emotional balance they desperately needed.
- I really do like King Eulogimenos. He ultimately wanted to save his kingdom from suffering a cold fate, even if it meant exposing the sins of his forefathers.
- Hey, uh...try to remember Pyra's/Mythra's ability to transfer their Core Crystal.
- I like how the reveal on Zeke's and Pandoria's meeting with Amalthus also makes Pandy's glasses turn transparent, making her look less silly. Anyway, don't Zeke's superhuman speed/durability feats make a lot more sense now? They're more than just comical elements.
- "rogue" "rogue" "rogue" "everbero" "rogue" "rogue"
- Yeah, Nia's whole character arc is a "coming out" story, finding her truest friends. Both the Praetorium and Torna judged Nia simply by her being a Flesh Eater - but for Rex and co., all that mattered is not WHAT Nia is, but WHO.
(...So it's kinda annoying when people throw the "BLUHH FRIENDZONE" joke over and over and over. I'm sorry, is that really as important as Nia not being persecuted?! Anyway, Nia herself never seems to mind - it's only Rex that worries over it, really. But if it makes you feel better, Rex's JP line is more about them being kindred soulmates.)
- It's...kinda messed up when you consider Nia's Driver made her become a Flesh Eater simply to make her a substitute for his daughter. You saw how broken she was when he died...
- Actually, Nia's design is really neat, in both modes. You know how she's always dressed in gloves, boots, and a full jumper? Pretty odd when you consider how Gormotti typically dress more lightly - and always barefoot, to boot (pun unintended). And in Blade form, her ears look more like fox ears - like a kitsune, a Japanese shapeshifter.
- And again, this is where Rex realizes he doesn't have to be a powerhouse to be a strong Driver - he just needs to be a good emotional support for his Blade allies.
- When you really think about it, Morag and Brighid are the most normal Driver/Blade duo of the bunch. Rex is connected to an Aegis, Nia and Zeke are human/Blade fusions, and Tora has an artificial Blade. And yet, they can keep up with the others through pure skill.
- The sight of Malos slowly approaching Pyra through a dark memory-consuming fog is definitely horrifying...Makes him seem like a slasher movie villain, doesn't it?
- So...do Malos's weapon and Art names sound familiar?
- Also, it's kinda cool when someone can weaponize healing powers like that. And being on par with Aegises, Nia really is one of the best healers I've ever seen.

Judging by seeing her reactions in the next chapters I can tell you're already gonna have a blast writing more comments like these

Fun fact: In Japanese, Homura (Pyra) means flame, Hikari (Mythra) means light, and in Greek Pneuma means spirit or breath of life. In the Japanese guide for the game the transformation (her second ascended form) is called Pneuma but they take her two names and combined them so it’s Homuri. Also, the writing on her chest during the transformation says Pneuma in Greek, but also has a passage below that translates to roughly: “Characteristics of the just path as the light becomes brighter and brighter until full day.” :)

I have to agree that the whole "romantic" angle does FEEL like a pretty random addition to this part of Nia's arc. There's really very little that directly hints it before the reveal. She was even cheering on Pyra and Rex back at the Praetorium, joking or not, instead of the regular jealous tsundere type character she had been up to that point. Probably could have done with an added scene or dialogue line here or there for a little more buildup. Nothing overt per se that would ruin the reveal, but just putting more of the building blocks in the right places. I dunno, it's hard to explain.
