I think, it's because more and more people are thrifting now. I used to thrift shop all the time, but now not so much. Everything is either extremely expensive, or it's torn/worn out H&M.
Editing!Karen's commentary is my favorite (doctor going in to surgery, that's what she said). I love how I can watch your videos, fangirl over the cute clothes, get ideas for future shopping trips, and get a good chuckle in too. One-stop shop! Love you, Karen.
Ok, so I finally "thred-up" and while there was a lot to weed out, I ended up with 4 items (tags still on and excellent condition). The total cost of these items was over $550, but I paid under $100! Thank you for showing us that fashion is attainable in many ways.
Can I just say how lovely it is, hearing someone just say "great dress" to you, just like that!👌Would never ever in a million happen where I come from or live. The only time someone would comment is to hear where you bought it.., other times just stare at you, but again, never spontaniosly give you a compliment like that. Lovely. Watch and learn.💕
what part of the world do you live in then? I live in NZ and op shopping ('opportunity shops') is wonderfully social. That is the best part of it. Op shops are super-popular now, often chocker with all types of people, and the entire ethos is based on sharing - donated things, volunteers, charities. There's music playing that reminds you of your Mum. Not everyone wants contact, but most people like a sincere compliment. Sometimes I go into op shops just to be around people.
@@elinannestad5320 Yr name sounds norwegian, I live in Sweden and people here mostly want to look the same, so I guess that's part of the reason, because there's really nothing to pay compliments on, lol. So boring. I know you can do your own thing, but it's much harder standing out in an enviornment with "uniforms".But when I see something unusual, beautiful or just personal on a person,I really try to compliments on it, but usually you feel a bit akward, as people are simply not used to it..
I love walking into a thrift store and seeing all of the colors, patterns, & fabrics mixed together - the perfect start to a fun treasure hunt! Love this video!
Hi Karen, I just want to tell you that you are a glorious person! You are the only person (online) who is inspiring and who doesn’t put you under pressure that you have to do everything just like you to be happy. (sounds weird) but yeah. I'm always inspired to do something "like you do" but IN MY OWN WAY. That great. So THANK YOU. Have a nice day :)
I heartedly second this comment - Karen you are a powerfully positive presence. It is so lovely to see you out and about in NYC - especially as I wont get there until there is a vaccine. Love those thrift shops.
Hi Karen, I love the housing works in Chelsea for both home goods and clothing and the housing works in Soho has amazing women's clothing and accessories. I think it is also important to let your viewers know HousingWorks is a non-profit fighting AIDS and Homelessness. Thank you for sharing and posting!
I love the Chelsea location but rarely go to Soho for some reason. Guess I forget it’s there lol. I miss the Tribeca location. It’s where I first discovered HW and got my most favorite Nili Lotan pants.
Yes , Yes , YES to more thrift store , vintage , market videos . Take us around New York with you , who knows , we might get there ourselves one day ? Stay Covid safe
I live when you go around New York. I’m originally from NY, Brooklyn to be exact. But I left when I was 4 and I’m a Floridian now. But I love visiting and watching you on the streets of New York City and talking about one of my passions: fashion, it’s just everything! And thrifting, even better. And designer, I’m dying! Thanks for taking us along.
Of course we want a series. For those of us that love NYC, and cannot be there, we NEED to live vicariously through you.....not to mention the inspiration you provide.
MORE, PLEASE! I have been following you for years from South Africa because of your shopping in NYC. While I can't get or buy there, the inspiration is indescribable. Thank you, Karen.
Aren't you just blessed to have the most beautiful eyes, when that's all people see of our faces these days! Thanks for the tour of "posh" NYC thrift shops.
Yes please do more shops. The scenes bring back so many memories. And ThreadUp is a great resource. You are both classic and street so everything you picked last year feels just as right this year. Gorgeous!
YES! Do make a series, please! Probably Every other Week is good! I really appreciate the Tour of the "Finer stores" just as much as the Thrift stores! Hope your weekend is going swimmingly!
I would absolutely love more videos of you exploring NYC! I used to live there for 16 years and had to move, but miss it so very much...so now I can live vicariously through your videos!
Karen I loved this video. I used to go to Manhattan 4 times a year for my job and I miss walking around the architectural buildings. AND I love thrifting so this video was a winner! Thank you for what you do and keep the rest of us entertained during this pandemic.
I'm from the UK, and often visit the local Charity Shops in London. I started to watch the thrift channels in the US until I came across your channel, which I became instantly hooked and subcribed. During the early '00s, I used to visit New York until I started to have children, and realised we could no longer afford to travel. So watching your channel is great so I get to see the sights plus shopping on a budget.
Her husband is so quiet because he is just so glad she comes home every night. He's not going to mess that up. LOL. In this video, the Upper West Side looks much prettier than the UES. Love the driving shots of NYC. You're still Queen of the B-Roll. Love the mask!
You never fail to inspire me to feel more positive about dressing myself with more polish and just generally about life. I feel those of us who follow your channel are so fortunate to have you. You add joy to our lives. : )
Karen! I love this video. Please show us more of NY. My heart is breaking because this will be the first year in probably 15 years that I won't make it to the City for at least one visit. I now live in Florida and given the current state of things, a trip just doesn't make sense right now. I used to work in Mid-Town and always loved hitting spots in the Upper West Side and also venturing Downtown. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
So grateful love all your vlogs!!! Also love these thrift stores in particular and cannot wait to visit them!!! Trust people are looking and admiring your beauty class, and style xo:)!!!!
Nice seeing New York thrifting thru your eyes. Housing works has a ton of locations so yes u could turn it into a series - - as a side note if you are going to become a regular consider buying one of their memberships. You can get a discount on certain days (Monday?) I think and then 20% off large ticket items like furniture. They also have some great perks for special sales and early shopping events.
The Burberry Rain coats were fire at those prices!! I hope you do create a series as this is a great way for people to get a feel for the label they aspire to at prices they can achieve. Quality products at great prices are always a win!
I’m not even a fan of clothes shopping or fashion (mainly because I’m not good at putting outfits together) but I love your videos. Your personality just makes me smile!
❤️Ex-New Yorker here‼️Love the idea of you starting a Shop-With-Karen series! How about including a slow motion whirl around the most iconic of all Pharmacies in Manhattan - Bigelow’s‼️That is my very first go-to shop when I’m back in town. Hard-to-find perfumes, the best French hair accessories ever, and the super posh skincare products that one has to think twice before the investment (💵).
I just love love love your snapshot of op/charity/thrift life in NY! Please keep them coming ..... As an avid op shopper here in Australia (ex Brit too!) I'm currently getting my 'fix' watching your thrift finds! Until a time here in Melbourne we can get back to any kind of retail thrift or otherwise 😔 Thanks Karen for being such an inspiration!
The Housing Works on East 64 and 2 Avenue is my favorite one. I have to stopped there when I leave my doctor’s appointment. Two years ago I bought a bright blue Norman Kamali sleeping bag coat.
ThredUp is my fave! They come quickly, and they’ll send you a shipping kit you can fill up & send THEM, too. Love this episode. My old haunts, my favorite brands. You came to NY and found everything so quickly I’m convinced you’re a GENIUS! Love you! Brilliant!💕 great outfits. And LOVE yr NYC tours. Terrific episode.
Love seeing driving around different parts of NYC: the bits of greenery, architecture etc. No1 store seemed most interesting of the three. Time consuming but the way to learn and, hopefully, pick up some bargains.
Fabulous! You know what would also be wonderful? When all of this is over a European thrifting series by Karen! Imagine her thrifting in London, in Paris, in Amsterdam......one can only dream.
Karen, you are an absolute joy to shop with in NYC!! Since We can’t travel there anytime soon, watching you take us there with you is so much fun. Love your positive energy and enthusiasm for style. You are a gem! 💎

Yes! I’m very supportive of a high class thrift series. Plus roaming around new areas you may find people for your “ what people are wearing in NY “ series. Okay, now.....did you purchase anything? 😍😍
Yes, Karen! Please take us through NYC. I've been there several times, but I still have so much to see, especially when it comes to where to thrift shop. I've been to The Hamptons, too, so that would be fun to see their thrift shops, too. Thanks for all you do!

If you are not shopping on eBay for vintage treasures you are missing a trick. The range and variety is without comparison. Clothes, jewellery, shoes, home decor, prints, paintings, linens etc etc etc. Vintage applies to items over 20 years old, I thought thred up mainly did modern items? I’m on eBay as A1heirloomhunter and I sell all these types of beautiful vintage items and I ship worldwide! 😉
YES! You will find a gleeful find❣️And yes to any New York adventures you want to share....it’s is one of my favourite cities in the world ...and lots of giggles....that’s what she says...play that all the time with my bff. Take care ❣️
I can imagine the reaction of the person, who sold the clothes to the thrift store, to see you wearing it in style. Most likely, she must want the clothes back !! lol
I use to spend weeks in ny in the late 70s up til late 80s so I’m loving the video, especially the walking in between shops, and you are just a great character to go with. 🙏

Thredup is good for shopping, but they hardly give you anything for the items you sell through them.
Why not
Yes to the series. Yes for more NY,!!! YES TO EVERYTHING
I agree 😊👍
You've said it best! 😁♥️
Do these stores have a website?
And tell if they have webbshops so we could have a look to. Love if you would do series of this!
Karen This video was Brilliant ! I Enjoyed it so much....
Please do more 😀
I miss the days when thrift stores were really cheap.
hello......Tell the truth
A lot of locations are really over doing the pricing and I really feel bad for those persons on strict budgets for their families 😢
I think, it's because more and more people are thrifting now. I used to thrift shop all the time, but now not so much. Everything is either extremely expensive, or it's torn/worn out H&M.
Yes...I got an authentic mulberry Alexa Satchel from the Salvation Army in queens ny for a whopping 20 bucks...I ran outta that store..😊
Ain’t that the truth 🥰🥰🥰
Yes, do a series. Going with you is like going shopping with an old, warm friend.
Editing!Karen's commentary is my favorite (doctor going in to surgery, that's what she said). I love how I can watch your videos, fangirl over the cute clothes, get ideas for future shopping trips, and get a good chuckle in too. One-stop shop! Love you, Karen.
