      +Nagy György Krisztián Nagy Ahh....yes it is a scientifically proven fact lol Ketones aren't something he made up, ketosis is a state you can get your body into quite easily and its proven with a simple blood or urine test. When you are in a state of ketosis you use fat for fuel. It's not fairy stories, it's it's not some new fad, it's an actual medical fact, it's just that lay people and not just the scientific and medical community, are now finally realising how bad excess carbs can be for you, after generations of being told otherwise.
      I've been living Keto for about six weeks now, I've lost over seven kilos and my blood test are better than they have ever been, I may even get to come off my blood pressure meds next month and I have an auto immune disease that usually saps my energy but I've never had more energy. It's so good and yes..it is a scientific fact.

      +Amanda Ramsey Hello Amanda, that is great news! I have questions about your macros. How have your values changed over the last year? Are you still in weight loss mode or maintenance phase. I am curious what long term ketosis maintenance looks like.
      I am in the process of adaptation right now (about one week in and starting to feel good, though my energy is still not back to normal). I am about 20 pounds overweight, though pretty fit and no history of metabolic issues. My intention is to maintain a state of ketosis indefinitely as sugar and carbs do not agree with my digestive system or my fitness requirements (endurance runner). Cheers.

    I've been on this for 6 days an the change is amazing in this short time. No more food cravings,no more aching joints, no more bloating, way better sleep, more energy, i'm type 2 diabetic and my blood sugars have dropped to normal levels and i've lost weight.
    Amazed how simple it is once I got over the first 2 days where I had a headache. I'm also cooking with coconut oil and taking apple cider vinegar in water 2-3 times a day and only eating green leafy veg with my meat and eggs.

    Love this vid. Thanks. About 7 months ago the doctor warned me of being overweight and having dangerously high BP. I went on a strict vegan, unprocessed food, diet. By the book, according to the conventional medical wisdom. Six months later, I weighed the same and had higher blood pressure. Then, went on a low-carb, high-fat diet for 3 weeks. Lost 10 pounds and BP already back to normal. I feel great. This is my diet, for life. Just do it.

      +W.J. Kelly That's awesome that the keto diet worked so well for you! It's CRAZY that the vegan diet *increased* your blood pressure, though. Were you eating a bunch of fruit or something?? (Not that I'm an advocate for a vegan diet by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm just curious) :)

      William Gabbert I think it's pretty easy to infer my level of skepticism from my comment. lol... he said he went strict vegan with no processed food (and although I'm always skeptical, I don't immediately conclude that someone is lying). That's why I asked if he was eating way too much fruit or something... or too many grains. Something had to be amiss if he was doing a strict vegan diet and increased his blood pressure.

      W.J. Kelly Vegan who eats fried foods? Trans fat is what damages the body. I find the statement hard to believe to be honest. Recently went vegan no fired and I'm eating as much as I want and easily getting full from fibre rich foods. Cutting out dairy has been the best thing I've ever done. Most people are addicted to cheese and we can't admit it. Weight loss is slower then a low carb diet but I feel much better. I did low carb and I post weight but I felt sick all the time. It spoiled meat for me as I never found it as appealing from that day on. Quitting meat was easy. Quitting cheese is always challenging.

      Saturated fats and cholesterol are not unhealthy as media wants us to believe. The bad part(it's actually good, else we would bleed internally, but we die anyway) is your body uses cholesterol to patch your veins and arteries that are damaged due to physical stress. Poor good guy cholesterol, being blamed for keeping you alive for another 5-8 years.
      Leaving the jokes aside, cholesterol patches the broken collagen bonds in your arteries.
      If you know someone with a heart disease, do a little research. You should be able to save their life.
      Useful words to google: EDTA chelation, collagen formation.

      Small amount of animal protein with its natural fat as well as butter/ghee (such as eggs, chicken with skin, higher fat beef, etc.), lower your carbs (no fruit and eat veggies only), plant fats such as olive oil, coconut oil. Make sure you minimize foods that spike insulin. Wish I would have known about ketosis 30 years ago!.

My mom just went through a horrible ordeal with cancer (please pray for mom) and now that is another thing on my list. I will try this for a few months and get my blood work done again. Hi Dr. Berg. I ran across your video and I can personally testify to your statements. I read ATKINS book a few years back and decided I needed to change. I chose the same meals every day to take the guess work out of what I was going to eat and ate it religiously for 2.5 months... I lost a total of 47 pounds and went from a 38 inch waist to a 32. I had blood work done every 30 days to track my cholesterol. My triglycerides dropped from 350 to 150, cholesterol from 336 to 128 (3 good to the bad cholesterol), and I completely changed. I started doing crossfit and kick boxing and I noticed my endurance went up rather than decrease. I have stayed in Ketosis for a very long time and love it. Wish all of you the best.

    This video is very succinct and captures most of the info you need about the benefits of a LCHF diet. The transitional phase is something I experienced but it was pretty brief.
    I started low-carbing in early January 2016 and at this time, mid-March 2016, I've lost two stone/13kg/28lbs. Almost effortlessly it's felt like. One key thing that's happened to me is I've lost all of my cravings to snack and I rarely feel hungry. I don't even think about food in the same way anymore. I'm eating less and cooking more. I now *only* eat when I feel hungry. Try it.

    Dr. Berg I'd like your 2 cents on my Cholesterol report. My GP went knuts. I started at 155lbs and went down to 150. I'm 6'1" male. Not on diet to lose weight, on this diet for increased focus and steady energy levels, achieved this somewhat. I was on Keto for for 3 months. My numbers: total cholesterol - 249 triglycerides - 44 HDL - 92 VLDL - 9 LDL 148. Not sure what baseline was, but it was lower on the LDL and total a couple years ago. I used kept blood tester daily, maintained ketosis with bacon, pork meatballs, eggs, Kerry Gold butter, heavy cream, coconut oil, and greens generally.

    Following Dr Berg since March 1,2021. I don't think I am on ketosis but I am taking low carb for sure. I am confident to say than Life has been changed since that day.
    1. Post lunch sleepiness disappeared on day 1.
    2. Weight loss ( 64 kg to 58 kg now)
    3. Body confidence improved
    4. I had a chronic shoulder pain because of stress related muscle knots. It has not gone completely but I am feeling less pain.
    5. Craving followed by mindless eating has been decreasing.
    6. Blood pressure improved. My blood pressure medication decreased to half.
    7. I am still struggling with diabetes, however I started to feel that I can reduce Metformin from 500 mg twice a day to once a day.
    Despite all positive experience, I still have some concerns. I hope Dr Berg will respond my queries.
    1. Does keto diet damage my kidneys?
    2. What are the extra precautions should be taken during keto diet and low carb diet by people with diabetes and hypertension?
    Thank you Dr Berg and Team, and fellow keto lovers.
    Sincerely,

    0:37 Actually, professional athletes do not "far outrun and perform [better] on ketosis than on the carbo-loading." This is not my opinion; a paper published in a 2004 issue of Nutrition and Metabolism shows that ketones, a less efficient source of energy, had adverse effects and impeded optimal athletic performance. The paper noted that regular physical labor or recreational activity may not be impaired by a ketogenic diet, but those looking to improve athletic performance -- including weight lifters -- would experience limitations due to the low muscle glycogen levels that occur on such a plan.

    Hi, I had success with the ketosis diet once, and then I had trouble getting into ketosis the second time a few years later, and I gave up that time. It is worth mentioning that a reduction in calories for a day or two before you shift into the ketogenic diet will drastically speed up how fast you get into ketosis. After an intense workout can be the perfect time to start the shift. For a long time I thought it was just the shift to proteins, not knowing those residual carbs need to be burned off completely. Apple cider vinegar for a day or two before you start the diet is extremely helpful, for the reasons you've mentioned in your other vids. Thanks so much :)

    I'm bulking on keto and in first days i lost 600-800 grams daily.I don't take suplements,i train hard 5 times a week ,harder than when i was on carbo.I keep carbo bellow 20g .I use the same weigths and reps x sets as in carbo period,i feel full of energy,i'm not hungry anymore.My muscles are tonic and stronger than before keto. Thx dr. Berg for your videos.Bodybuilding will accelerate ketosis,first time i entered ketosis in 24 hours, i went from carbo to 0 carbo ,i felt a little bad only on first day, little or none headache.Seems crazy but i lost 5 kg in the first seven days with hard work bodybuilding + keto.I need to refeed once a week now to not loose too much weight.Keto is a crazy thing.Everybody need to try it.The blood will be cleaner, the stress disapears,you will sleep better,the only problem keto food is not as tasty as "sugar" based food:((

    Dr. Berg, I have type 2 diabetes and have been taking Metformin for a couple of years now. I have been on a reduced calorie diet for some time to aid me in my weight loss. Some three or four weeks ago I decided to change to the Ketosis diet to see if it would help me lose more weight. I was some 95 lbs over weight. On the old diet with Metformin my glucose would be (108 - 120) daily and on a bad day as high as (148 - 152). Within a couple of weeks on the Ketosis diet my glucose levels dropped to (83 - 89) my hunger cravings are totally gone, I no longer think of food and I am sleeping great again after years of bad sleeping. I decided to stop taking my Metformin for a few days and my glucose levels changed to about (94 - 102) which would seem to be better. I did not have any bad feeling at the lower glucose level and just wanted to see what would happen. My eating habits have total changed, my hunger is gone, and I'm losing weight once again. In fact I have trouble eating the 2300 calories based on a (5%, 25%, 70%) diet and usually end a day at around 1800 calories or less because I have met the (%5, 25%, 70%) requirements feeling totally satisfied. My question is about the Metformin, Should I be concerned about taking it with the lower glucose in the 80's ? It seems to be causing my glucose to drops an additional 10 points. Just looking for your opinion, my next Dr apt is in March. Thanks

    The Inuits probably had a ketogenic diet but they lived in a very unpolluted environment. It is recorded they had huge livers and bladders to cope with the fat and protein. However they were healthy. The Hunza on the other hand had a mineral rich (from the water) simple diet of fruits vegetables, a bit of chicken, natural yoghurt probably more like kefir. It is doubtful they were in ketosis but lived to be 135 years. The common factor....NO added sugar....and in the case of the Inuits high OMEGA 3 and both had very mineral rich diets also the Hunza walked up to 10 miles every single day. They also had no stress or pollution. I am not sure you should talk about lowered cancer risk. Dr Atkins studied his diets on cancer patients without LONG term success and that is the key. You did say risk I appreciate and not cure.... you need to be very wary of thinking ketogenic provide a LONG term CURE for cancer. Ketosis is very damaging to the kidneys...YOU did not mention this...our kidneys are not adapted to this diet. Also proteins have been scientifically shown to raise insulin significantly. So I have to say...I am confused by all this. I think putting your body into LONG TERM ketosis is very unhealthy....plus you will stink!! Doctors do NOT like to see ketones in the urine of patients

    • @Zoe.TheBody360
      @Zoe.TheBody360 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The1RobynHode Thank you...I think this is what I said...protein stimulates insulin production....I see what you mean about atkins tho...he did not realise that the protein was also a stimulant. It is hard I would imagine to really consume the fat without protein unless you were just adding in loads of coconut oil....cheese still has lactose most of the time and yoghurt. Like you say, as I see it it would be super hard to stay in ketosis all the time. I hope I have understood you correctly.

    • @Zoe.TheBody360
      @Zoe.TheBody360 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The1RobynHode WOW that takes some discipline. Are you doing this for fat burning reasons only (sorry if you don't want to answer that I totally understand!). I think it sounds Ok as a short term protocol but in the long term I fear very unsustainable. It is just too rigid a protocol for the majority of people to follow and I would still be concerned about the LONG not the SHoRt term effect; especially in the light of the anti-cancer theory as this would really need to be a life time protocol

    • @Zoe.TheBody360
      @Zoe.TheBody360 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The1RobynHode I think further studies of vitamin K2 and artery decalcification is one to watch and I agree with the Apple Cider. Do you distinguish glucose from fructose from fruit in your anti-cancer theory? I agree totally with the fat ratios; and environment and the production of xenoestrogens too. I am not convinced about the sugar/cancer connection wholly....I think the problem is more refined sugar feeds candida which may lead to metabolic disruption? So sugar is implicated but perhaps more probiotics would balance this rather than, say, eliminating fruit. There should be more scientific/government study behind this...trouble is there is too much threat to the economy, so I feel there are political forces against us really getting to the truth!!! Thank you for all your input

    • @Zoe.TheBody360
      @Zoe.TheBody360 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The1RobynHode I am very interested in what you have to say here...and your science makes sense to me but I am not a scientist. However this goes against the American Diabetic Society's recommendations to reduce dietary fat in the prevention of fatty liver and subsequent diabetes. I highly respect the videos of Michael Greger as he does seem to refer to unbiased and unsponsored data and his video "diabetes is a disease of fat toxicity" (and that this is caused by dietary fat)....I guess you do not agree with at all!? I think this seemingly conflicting scientific finding...on what are effectively the main macro nutrients is just very bewildering to me. I am a nutritionist but not a scientist and really like to rely on the science....and when this is at variance it is hard to offer advice. Thank you so much for your input...I really do appreciate what you have had to say

      The1RobynHode I am not disputing at all what you say...just saying that Michael Greger always refers to the latest research which he states is always unbiased and unsponsored....It makes way more sense it is a sugar intolerance issue to me, a lay person. My grand mother had diabetes and Ihave PCOS with insulin issues (although not diabetic). I am sorry for your loss and circumstance. I hope any wrong science that any society is using is quickly rectified. Btw...my friend has diabetes and I gave him both a high dose of Alpha Lipoid Acid and Cinnamon and he is now classified as not diabetic (with not too much change to diet and a bit more exercise)....but I class this as a state of remission not a cure and his levels were not excessively high in the first place!!!

    I am diabetic. My A1c has been up and down for years. Lately, have been trying to do this WOE without a great amount of success. I doing OK but know I could do much better. In June I went out of town for a family emergency and was gone almost 2 months. When I returned I had my blood tested and my A1c was 10.3. I was not surprised since I was out of my environment and the meals being provided were anything but healthy. I basically gave up trying knowing I would be returning home soon and would get back on the wagon. Needless to say my bloodwork upon my return was not good. 10.3 and showed everything was off the chart. My Primary, knowing my history, bought into my explantion/story to a degree. She would go along with my diet plans but she also put me on Lantus SoloStar (insulin) 30 units nightly. I started eating LCHF right away. In the interim between A1c tests, I stuck to the WOE. I don't believe I ever reached Ketosis because I didn't have significant weight loss in the 90 days between labs. I lost about 10 lbs which I attributed to just eating better in general. Then I went back for my labs in October. My A1c had dropped to 7.0. Not perfect, but if you're a diabetic you know you're on the right track. I guess I just want others to know that there is merit in this woe. Not only did my A1c drop but my triglycerides went way down and my cholesterol dropped. It's now the holiday season and I will admit, I am struggling. I will be checking back in with my Primary in the middle of January. I know I will struggle between now and then but I am determined to keep with this. FYI... My daily medications include: Lantus/Solostar 30units Metformin HCL ER 1000 2xdaily, Simvastatin 40mg, Valsartan/Hydrochlorothiazide 160mg/12.5mg

    You say unlimited vegetables. Which is great! BUT aren't there vegetables high in carbs like beets, carrots, yams, etc. Shouldn't there be a limit to these carb wise? Also, how much protein in each meal. And can you do a chart like you did with the how much fat video, of samples of proteins e.g. How many eggs, how much chicken, fish, etc. Or does it matter? Thank you.

    America needs more doctors like you. I stopped going to my doctor because all they ever do is perscribe medication to treat symptoms. Instead of getting to the root of what's causing the symptoms, they mask the problem without ever resolving it. What more people need to be aware of is that our bodies need to heal, and through diet and nutrition is the way to go.

    I have a degree in nutrition and dietetics and there's no way this guy is a doctor. If he was he would know that ketosis is a dangerous, suboptimal state in which your body must use acids for fuel. During ketosis the natural neutral pH of your body becomes acidic, and your organs and systems are under great metabolic stress to keep up. This results in a slower metabolism, more cortisol production, and more fat storage the very minute you stop this diet. Of course you lose weight, you're starving your cells for glucose, the only fuel they can readily use. This "doctor" and his clients make the case that Inuit peoples ate a ketosis diet. Of course they did. There is nothing to eat but whales and seals in subzero temperatures. Fat and protein was all they had to survive. Dr. Berg fails to mention that the inuit people have the highest prevalence of type 2 diabetes of all ethnic groups. Here's a quote on the function of ketosis in the body: "...the livers ability to deliver ketone bodies to peripheral tissues such as the brain and muscles is an important mechanism for providing fuel in periods of starvation. In short, it is the lesser of two evils." (Gropper S, Smith J. Advanced Nutrition and Human Metabolism.) The effects of long term ketosis are extremely dangerous, and even deadly. On a ketosis diet ketones accumulate in your blood, and your body becomes more and more acidic until you enter a state called ketoacidosis. The result of ketoacidosis is extreme metabolic disturbance, coma, and death (2% to 5%). If you want to lose weight see a registered dietitian who understands the science of food and the metabolism. Don't put yourself at risk listening to this quack. I am taking the time to write this post because today my little sister who is 21 called me and wanted to start this diet because of the terrible misinformation that is being provided to the public by this so called doctor. Luckily her brother is a dietitian who can protect her from misinformation like this. For everyone else, do your research and don't think there's an easy, exercise free way to be healthy. Just eat the right amount of healthy foods, exercise, drink water and enjoy your life. There is no big secret, and if there is ketosis is not it.

      I would suggest you revisit, challenge and question the science of the day that your degree in nutrition is based on. The tide is turning on what was previously considered the conventional wisdom. This is happening in the scientific and medical fraternity. How do you explain this guys experience.... W.J Kelly (above) "..About 7 months ago the doctor warned me of being overweight and having dangerously high BP. Just do it."

      Sneaky Pete same as me sneaky Pete, I've eaten keto for about a week and a half, steady energy all day, I fall asleep faster and I stay asleep all night, even with insomnia and obstructive sleep apnea, I've cut all the processed crap. I suffer from congenital anemia, chronic fatigue syndrome and low thyroid so I'm usually very low energy; I took a three hour walk last Sunday. three weeks ago I couldn't have managed one hour without a break. I could never keep up with my friend before; now I outstrip my hyperactive terrier. my skin is clearing up and I've already started losing weight. my cravings for crap food are almost completely gone. I feel so satisfied by my meals. I just took my blood pressure; it's 120/72, it used to range from 130/85 - 150/100, and if I was sick in pain or under stress, its been up to 200/100-110 before.

    Dr Berg says that on Ketosis athletes can perform better than carb loading, then why do people like Scott Jurek and ultramarathon runnear the best ones or the record holders mostly are vegetarian or vegans and not Keto people, some go on Keto for training but then for the race the load up on carbs and have masses of amounts of energy, the body suddenly changes its fuel source.

    Excellent information! My wife and I have been on a low carb lifestyle for quite a while now and we're finally tweeking the fat to protein ratio. Since we've reduced the protein and increased the fat, the last phase of weight loss is finally taking place. I now weigh less than I did when I was in high school, I roller-blade every day, and feel better than ever. Did I mention I'm 63? I personally have recently made some diet changes that have really been beneficial, like you stated, eating only grass fed meat and eating more eggs in morning. I use only free range organic eggs because it is what the chickens were able to do natuarally- walk, not sit in a cage and eat a manmade concoction of what man says is good for chickens and cheap. I also drink green organic vegetable juice. So my diet isn't restrictive of meats and eggs, but I add lots of vegetables, and restrict sugars.

    That's not really true, ketosis can really ramp up your cholesterol and inflammation levels if you don't approach it correctly...Burning meat and fats causes a lot of AGE's no?

    • @daebob
      @daebob 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Keto Calisthenics so what is the best approach? olive oil is okay?

    • @tallwaters9708
      @tallwaters9708 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +k lz Yeah I think so, I ate a lot of saturated fat and it caused me quite a bit of inflammation leading to really high serum cholesterol levels. My approach now is to focus on whole foods only and never to cook food past 100'C. I'd recommend flax, chia, almonds, peanuts, some boiled salmon/eggs, olives for fats. You can have around 30 olives for the same amount of calories in one TBSP of olive oil, plus you get a whole host of other nutrients in the whole olive.
      Of course that's just my experience, you might be different. I don't know the best approach, I just know that for me a keto diet of high sat fat caused ridiculously high cholesterol levels, albeit my HDL was high and my TRI very low.

    • @daebob
      @daebob 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keto Calisthenics Thank you so much for the answers. I guess safe approach is limit animal fats and add more nuts and seed + coconut and olive oil.

    • @tallwaters9708
      @tallwaters9708 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +k lz I think that's a really good idea. I don't even think Saturated fat is inherently bad (like coconut oil), the trouble arises when you cook it at high temperatures. That's why it's easier for me to just stick to whole foods and boil up a soup for dinner. It's my pleasure to help, good luck!

Most MDs have training on memorizing some even have arts degrees before doing getting into medicine.

So i made the decision, more energy no abs, or abs and no energy. I pumped my carbs up gained about 8kg then slowly came back down. Its beens a bit over a year and im at 10%bf, way more energy much fitter and most importantly better more vibrant quality of life. So i have tried, thats my story. Have you tried high carbing??

      Clay and BmoreBirds22, i'd like to learn more from you- Can you show scientific evidence that has explained that carbs is A MUST and ESSENTIAL for optimized and good body performance? Like how it works with other hormones and so on. By the way, I'm not really sure what "Whole food carbs" mean since I'm not in America and I guess this term is used there. Is it like veggetables? If yes- Eric is not suggesting to not eat them. He's suggesting to get quite a lot of them. It's just that people should eliminate sugar intake (Processed 100% and possibly fructose stuff) and carbohydrates like bread, pasta, potatoes and stuff like that, if I'm not wrong.
      And another question- do you have any evidence/proof/experience that ketones is worse source of energy? Like... If you do everything correctly with ketosis, that you'll still feel less energetic?

    I've been on the Ketogenic diet for 2 years. I first tried it to lose 30 lbs and within 45 days had accomplished my task. While following the diet, I noticed increased energy, brain function, as well as improved cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose levels. Since that time I've helped numerous people lose as much as 120 lbs and have assisted over a dozen people with reducing bood glucose and getting them off diabetes medicine and insulin. I'm normally a skeptic and don't subscribe to fads, but I am completely sold on this way of life and until a doctor can show why it's detrimental to my health will continue to support and advocate the Ketogenic lifestyle.

    I have been doing the LCHF diet for one month now. I have lost 15 pounds and I have so much more energy now. It's amazing. I stay under 20 grams of carbs per day and try to get 75 to 80 percent of my calories from healthy fats. All of my carbs come from vegetables, a few from dairy. I take in roughly 80 grams of protein per day. All of the glucose your body needs is created from protein. Your body doesn't need carbohydrates to function. Since your body is burning fat for energy instead of sugar you don't have to worry about storing fat in your body unless you're eating an insane amount of calories per day. I thought this diet sounded crazy at first but I did alot of research before I started. I can say from personal experience the benefits are amazing and that is how I feel now.

    I've been Keto for a very short time and I have already seen improvements . I am hypoglycemic and I have not had 1 episode of blood sugar drops since eating this way . I was also very swollen and have noticed a dramatic difference. Also I have pcos and have seen acne I had on my arms start to disappear . And also all sugar cravings have left and also my BIG appetite has left too! And not to mention love seeing that scale move . I was having a hard losing weight due to pcos. But not anymore! And I'm also not as tired as I was before starting Keto .

    After being significantly ill for the majority of the past 23 years, and searching for what helps me feel better, I believe I can say by observation alone that diets must be individualized. What some people thrive on, others do not. If you're healthy in body and brain eating whole grains and beans, good for you, I cannot say the same. Stick with what works for you, and reserve your judgment on those who choose otherwise.

    I've researched a lot on ketogenic diet and Dr. Berg is on point, precise and provides key highlights of ketosis. What people must be careful of though is that this is not a just high-fat diet. You must be selective to lower PUPA to lower pro-inflammatory fat, eat adequate fibers, and this is not a carb elimination diet (intake up to 60 g carb/day). If you eat bacon fat, lots of protein (excess turn to glucose), and don't intake vital balanced nutrients, your body will suffer along with compromised thyroid and liver functions. People tend to criticize ketogenic diet without fully understanding the science behind it. HOWEVER, I believe ketosis is great for therapeutic resets but not the best for long-term commitment for most people. As long as you don't have a severe metabolic disease, it may be best to gradually reintroduce and up the carbs to the tolerable level after your insulin sensitivity improves to minimize inflammatory excess carb and to utilize various source of energy available to keep your system working optimally. I always come back to "everything in moderation."

    Good deprogramming. Thank you. I tried being a vegan twice over the years and it didn't work for me. We each have to find our own way. I lost 10 dress sizes several years ago on the Atkins plan. Starting the ketogenic plan a few days ago and already feeling better and know the weight will come off. Cravings gone. It isn't a matter of right or wrong, it's a matter of what's right or wrong for me. This works for me and with all the new knowledge I will be successful for life. Thank God.

    I've been on keto diet for 27 days straight. I think I got out of ketosis twice because first time I had a lot of cherries for a snack and the second time I had 3 beers throughout the whole evening. I don't measure my ketones, but I think that I got back in ketosis both time sooner than what initial period took. Now an honest opinion about keto? Just try it for yourself. First few days are tough because of diarrhea and excessive sweating (at least that was it in my case) and also a headache sometimes. I lost 7kg of which is 5kg of water probably. My energy levels are always the same throughout the day, no brain fogs and I can always concentrate on my tasks and I'm even more communicative at my work or when talking with people in general. This is my new way of eating!

I know alot of people are going to say that's unhealthy or it's dangerous , what I'm saying is that it worked for me and my results show that I'm a glucose intolerant. no bad as I am supposed to have type 2 diabetes. so in my case I felt 10 years younger. and every test I have are all good . hard lifestyle to start but once your into it brilliant. your body will help you too . I don't know how but it knows what is good for itself and puts you in the same mind set as giving up smoking. try it

    Feb 17 - 229 lbs

    I've been following this trend for 3 weeks on my own. I didn't know what ketosis was, I was scared because I didn't feel hungry on this diet plan, I had no food cravings..found out this was due to ketosis. I wouldn't consume sugar, drank lots of water and minimized my carbs, when I did eat carbs to excersise it was wheat bread or whole grain brown rice...combining ketosis with gym work outs is amazing.

    When eating a low carb or ketogenic diet, you have to make sure you're getting enough potassium.
    A high potassium low carb diet is a smart way to control your weight and stay healthy. Eating foods that are low in carbohydrates and sugars while high in potassium can be difficult to maintain.
    Leafy green vegetables are a good example of foods that are high in potassium, low in sugars and low in net carbs.

    I once went on the Atkins diet--2003--and felt wonderful, however, my daughter and son in law sabotaged me at every turn and I weighed 195 lbs in 2013 December. Then in April 2014 I hired a Personal trainer--he is my hero-- and now I weigh between 128 and 134. I am paying off my credit card now, and as soon as I get it down, I want to hire back my trainer, in the mean time I need the ketone diet to kick in
