@@meangr33nkrayola28 If I remember correctly, Satsuki's whole plot and ideal is that she wants freedom. Although she's the antagonist in the beginning, it's revealed she was pretending to be on her mother's side just to betray her at the right time.
Sonic is a character entirely based on the sense of freedom. I think that's the connection.
(I haven't watched Kill La Kill in five years, maybe I'm recalling things wrongly).

So, i have a friend who swears by kill la kill, it's his favorite anime. He got SUPER mad at me when i pointed out the similarities between the two series. When he started to calm down, i sent him this.
He hasnt talked to me in a week.
How could he be mad? The similarities between sa2 and kill la kill made me love the show so much more. Sa2 was my childhood.
-Plus I still think that kill la kill is a much much better story then sa2 so seeing the show it felt like an improvement-

Coming to this video after the latest Sonic Twitter Takeover essentially confirmed that Shadow is a Kill la Kill fan makes this a million times funnier.
So lemme get this straight:
- both shadow and ryuko are made from materials from an alien race and abandoned in the beginning.
-both had the same color scheme when they both go super.
-both rivals are with blue color in shadow's case.
-both creators are old like with something on their eyes and a mustache.
-both have died/disappeared in their final fights. In shadow's case it's on one of the endings in Shadow The Heghehog or sonic adventure either Sonic X.
-both rivals had alot of friends.
-both are really hurting the edge.
-both plans to destroy earth in shadow's case again one of the endings.
-both have retreated to space to end it but in shadow's case it's one of the endings.
I stil don't get why Ryuko is portrayed as "edgy", sure there was one arc we're she's pretty much straight edgy af, but aside from that she really is just a rude tomboy chick who still knows how to chill.

Episode nine is probably the worst place to drop it, too. I believe the _Trigger_ (hue hue hue) happens in ten, yeah? Either way, nine is right before a huge plot element that makes the show's appeal crystal. My friend (massive fan of Lagann) had only heard dumb, bad things about the show (KLK, that is), and it took an incredulous amount of convincing to get him to the episode in question. Needless to say; no more convincing was needed.
(I'm three months late to this, but whatevs.)
One of the central characters of _Sonic Adventure 2_ is the amnesiac Shadow the Hedgehog. He is identified by his black hair and distinctive red streak.
Created by an intelligent doctor and the game’s main villain, Shadow was born from alien DNA with the intent to be the ultimate lifeform. Realising the evil that was intended to be done with Shadow, the scientist behind him (who was ordered to be killed shortly after) took Shadow to try and use him to defeat the alien menace.
Unfortunately, it was not until the big bad is up in full swing and the world is screwed that anyone found any of this out, including Shadow realizing the artificiality of his life.
Shadow owns a bike, and is often accompanied by an alien who assists him in battle.
He has an intense rivalry with the blue blur Sonic, who likes to keep the world in order… but, there’s more to them than just looking like each other.
_Sonic Adventure 2_ culminates with the heroes and villains fighting in deep space over the ultimate weapon, a satellite with the power to obliterate Earth.
After Shadow transforms into his golden super form in order to defeat his villainous creator and save the planet, he is sent hurtling back to Earth, and almost dies.

I always liked to compare the similarities that KLK has with Star Wars, but your explanation sounds so much better than mine, and easier to understand to boot.
I like how perfectly this would work in a Shadow vs Ryuko fight. Both songs have their individual moments as if cheering for Shadow and Ryuko respectively, but then they also synchronize almost perfectly as if representing the mutual respect and understanding the two characters would feel for each other as the battle continued.
random idea i had while reading this, in the fight, crush 40 and the other band (don't know their name, sorry) would both be performing and the camera would be panning between both bands and the fight scene. maybe a while into the song, both vocalists would share one mic. that could make for a pretty cool scene, in my opinion.

What most people dont realize, is aside from the similarities to adventure 2, kill la kill shares similarities with shadow the hedgehog (the game) as well, notably the fact that both shadow and ryuko were created using material from the alien antagonists, causing them both to potentially be swayed to the antagonists side, or have doubts of their own identity.
