Lindsay meant that if you need to be at the airport by 4 for check-n--say, for a 6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. flight--get there at 3:15 instead. She did not mean get to the airport at 3:15 p.m for a 4 p.m. flight.

You say not to use the seat back pockets so you don’t forget something. I’ll give you a better reason not to use them. Studies have shown they are almost as dirty as the toilet seat in the lavatory. Also, as a frequent international traveler, getting Gloval Entry is THE BEST thing I ever did!

I either throw away the plastic bag or wipe down the drawstring bag with alcohol wipes after that. That bag is only used for seat pockets hahaha.
Point three (do not wear tank top and/or shorts) could be right in most cases but you will never know the temperature. When I flew from Thailand to Hong Kong with Air Asia, the plane barely had AC and everyone suffered in heat. I was glad that I wore a tank top. My tips to this point is that wear layers for your upper body!
Zzmora that isn’t the case anymore. I fly weekly for work on different airlines. Upgrades are based on your flying frequency and not how you are dressed like it was years ago.

Don't book flights with too tight of a layover and be sure that you book your two flights from the same airline (like one big flight) because if you miss your connection, they will just rebook you at no cost.
also book seats closer to the front of the aircraft. might have to pay more BUT if your in the back of the bus on a large aircraft......that ten minutes extra to disenbark could mean the difference.
Download the app of which ever major airport you are arriving/departing from...then before you go on the flight make sure you know exactly which terminal you come out of and which you arrive at. Frequent international traveler here. Try to leave at LEAST two hours between flights. 3 hours is even better. It’s better to have to sit in the airport for a little while than have to run to catch your connection.
The Wandering Wife yep...good advice. I’ve seen flights where there is only 45 min in between flights... that would give me severe anxiety. Ideally I like to have 3 hours in between flights
Normally I always argue against soda but I do have to point out that if you get motion sickness and forget Dramamine then drinking a clear soda (something like sprite) can help settle your stomach. You don’t need a lot! Just sip on one of those little cups they give you alongside a glass of water to stay hydrated
I agreed with most of the video, except the part about not wearing skirts or dresses on planes. I have a lot of dresses and skirts that are really comfy and are often my go-to choice, when I want to be comfy and look nice at the same time. That said, I most of them are at least knee length, and if they aren't, I wear them with leggings to keep my legs from freezing.
For sleep aids!!! If you get restless legs from Tylenol PM (or similar), like me, it's because the sleep aid is Diphenhydramine. Also, IF melatonin doesn't do jack diddly squat for you (like me as well)...I HIGHLY recommend getting a sleep aid with Doxylamine!!! I learned about the differences between the two when I was pregnant. Unisom Sleep Tabs are the most common sleep aid with Doxylamine, but places like Walgreens have a generic version. Start with 1/2 a tablet to see how it effects you.
A good time for flying, if you bring a bag of anything, either make a small hole or open the bag before you take off. My last flight to another state, while we were still rising, I had a bag of chips at my feet and the bag slowly inflated! I was panicking because I didn't it to make a large popping sound, because we know that any sorta loud noise is not only frown upon, but also incredibly risky when it comes to security. That bag of chips could have easily ruined my entire flight home.
I'm so glad I had not already bought a TSA precheck, I kept wanting to get it and made multiple interviews to get it but always ended up canceling because things coming up. I had researched just now about Global Entry and learned that it also includes tsa pre, glad I ended up waiting. 😂 thank you for your video!
With the sleep aids - Do Melatonin and Benadryl. The reason I say this is because the air blowing on the flight is pushing all the germs and bacteria people brought onto the plane with them around. If you have allergies, it will help a lot. Another thing - with your carry-on luggage, what I do is I roll my pillow inside my blanket and use a large rubber band or something to hold it together and put it on my luggage. That way you have room for other junk on your flight. I was able to bring a bag with a little bit larger dimensions on as carryon because my pillow and blanket made it look so insignificant.
Not sure if someone answered your clear question but Clear is on the same lines as TSA Pre-check but slightly higher if you ask me. Clear can jump the TSA Pre line. The downside is it isn’t in every airport yet so membership for it might not be worth it unless you are going through the airports that have it. Global Entry is something totally separate that automatically includes TSA Pre-check and expedites your entry back into the states from international flights.
Standby! If you're flying as a nonrev(no cost) you're expected to dress up because they consider you a 'representative of the company'. In fact, remember that United yoga pants story? That's what that was. I wear a blouse and slacks until I board, then change. No fun, but hey, worth it.
My Dad works for an airline and so we flew a ton when I was a kid. We didn't dress up but did dress nicer then sweats and stuff. If we needed to do 1st class it was so different. They expect teens to be dressed fancy too.
OMG. When you mentioned not wearing shorts/dresses/skirts, I laughed out loud 🤣😂 That is my mantra! Planes can be super dirty. I don’t want my skin exposed to those germs!
Been flying since I was 6 months... Every year lol. However, 300+ flights later, ADHD and the ever changing rules and ahem, aging, it always is great to watch these videos before flying. And omg! Yes! Dressing up... Shorts? If i feel dressy? Haha, i wear larer than usual jeans, and a niceer sweater or sweatshirt. Note:about sodium. I actually need to increase mine or take a medication that increases my sodium (POTS. it also involves compression stockings and abdominal binders XD)
Hey, you're actually sitting in this video lol! Great tips indeed. I'll have to look more into Pre-TSA as I never knew about that before. Thanks! One (probably obvious) tip that I experience to never do again is to NOT eat a big meal before flying. Most likely I'll end up seeing it again (-_-). I agree, would love to see a separate series of videos of just updates/vlogs. You tend to give a real quick update at the end of these types of videos, but it's just not enough. I absolutely love your travel videos, but it'll be a nice change to see other side of you just talking about things other than travel. :-D
Valerian is the herbal form of Valium. I believe Valium's origins were from Valerian. The cool thing with Valerian is that it is usually safer with far less side effects than Valium has, most notably the lack of "Valium hangover" the next day. You can either take it by capsule/pill or in delicious tea forms available in almost any grocery store and certainly at tea or health food stores.
you should 100% check out the Bugaboo Boxer, it is the best suitcase on the market and by the sound of it, you will love all the organization solutions it offers!!!
here's another tip; when traveling with elderly relatives or friends, make sure to request wheel chair access. You get pushed through the front of the security checkpoint quickly, and you get to actually get a break from carrying their stuff.
Going on my first flight in 11 years on the 21st of this month. My last trip was when I was 8 and I don't remember any of it. I'm not afraid of flying or anything, but I do have an anxiety disorder that makes me incredibly anxious if I don't know what to expect or go in blindly. I'll have my mom/boyfriend/brother with me so I won't be alone, but a girl is still shook lol. It also doesn't help that I am overweight (started a weight loss journey recently) and will most likely need to discreetly ask for a seatbelt extender on the flight. This alone has me absolutely terrified. I'll be next to my boyfriend who doesn't care if I "spill" into his seat (🙄 i'm a size 24 so the word spill is ridiculous) but i'm still terrified of the uncertainty if I need one/how to ask/who to ask and everything. This eased a ton of anxiety about airport protocol so thank you!
Great video! I disagree about no shorts, probably just me. All of my flights have been really warm, never cold. Also, my main airport is DIA so it would be expected to be cold
if you need extra leg room empty the contents of the seat back pocket (magazines/safety cards) and put it in the over head bins and you can usually get an extra few inches
Still killin' it Lindsay!! I would love more vloggy/personal stuff. even if it's random and really has no point. I would looooove to see the life update/vlogs. Just make them rough and dirty, I'd love to see you anywhere just letting us know what's happening!
My fav snack to bring on the plane is freeze dried snake bags from thrive there super good in small separate bags that fit nice in a backpack also they last a really really long time like 20 something years so if you pack more of them for your flight back home and me as a 13 year old that didn’t think fruit and carrots would be good they were amazing and you can get yogurt bites and ask for water and make yogurt fast and there is granola witch I just eat out of the bag but it is good on the yogurt to it’s a nice easy way to take healthy food on a plane and it is one of my essentials
Any suggestions on how to pack in carry-on for a 7 day bike trip in Europe when you’re gone 10 days and in a different hotel every night. Also I take my own helmet because I have an intercom system in it to communicate with my husband.
Great video, but a slight mistake. Global Entry, absolutely fabulous, gets you quickly through immigration (passport check), not through customs. Chicago O'hare has a pilot program of a special quick line through customs for GE holders, but it is only a pilot and not always available.
It might help to distinguish between "smaller carry-on" and larger carry-on by referring to the "smaller carry-on" as the "personal item". Airlines permit one personal item (handbag, tote, backpack, etc.) and one carry-on, e.g. luggage.
Such good stuff! I want to be super comfy on my international flight, but I also thought about asking for any free upgrade possibilities at the counter and I figured people dressed nicer would have a better chance at getting bumped up. What are your thoughts?
Katie Caruthers ah! I actually had a quick bit on this in the video but I cut it out because this vid ended up way longer than anticipated, lol. So you might want to do your own research but I don't think dressing nice will get you upgrades anymore and the reason is, airlines upgrades are mostly determined by loyalty programs now. I only know this because I fly Delta all the time and now that I have status, I get bumped a lot and I usually know before the flight because they send a list of all available upgrades beforehand. To me, that makes me think that the days of getting a surprise upgrade at the airport are gone or limited. I'm not sure thought so definitely do your research but might not be worth dressing up anymore (unless you just want to dress up.) :) thanks for watching and happy travels!
Lindsay Mc I figured that was the case, but definitely wanted to check with a pro. I'd MUCH rather be comfy on the flight anyway:) Thanks so much for your reply and always putting out such great content! It's coming in handy for my big trip.
Katie Caruthers it's always worth a try. But really depends on the person at the counter and if he or she likes you or not. A good story always helps. Tired from doing charity work abroad? Stuff like that :) But keep it believable haha. Otherwise just look out for deals. Flying business doesn't have to be that expensive. I fly business from oslo to bejing often for 1200 euro.. I know that there are people who pay more then that for a coach ticket on the same plane as i am on every time.
clear is a service that you can use international or domestically, if the airports you are going to have the clear service. What it is is you and up to 3 minors (I think) will skip the hole line you even skip the stupid agent and you go right to wear you put your things in bin you and your hole family my dad, my mom and my sister are all 18 and over so i go as a minor under one of there names and skip the whole line and to sign up you go to the airport 10 to 15 min earlier than you normally would for your flight and you sign up its super easy i love it! but make sure your airports have clear
Carry on thing:yeah. That and if you miss your connecting flight:you won't have any checked bag to worry about. Also:if you have to be over night, your clothes are with you.
Okeyyy girll.....you sead it does not metter how long you're going but you should pack a carry on....well....im going for 8 years i dont know if a cerry on is the right desicion
I wear sweats as well i get super cold on airplane/airport. I normal bring my headphones ipad so i can watch my Netflix movies finally got how to download some lol word search next trip out to New Jersey i am going bring a book and magazine i normally take a nap i end up being late where i go down shore switch 2 hour ride from airport so basically sit for 6 hours :(
I remember leaving some expensive duty free skin care products on Etihad when flying from Japan to Dublin, but I managed to get it back when I rang the Dublin airport the next they. They kept it and even posted it to my house for me!
one of the worst mistakes people make is mistaking comfort for loose clothing, clothing like super loose sweats or a bunch of layers can result in the clothes getting stuck in the belt and it can be a hassle to get out of ur seat, in warm weather wear leggings and a top wjth a sweatshirt, u can put the sweat shirt in ur bag if it gets too hot, on colder days and flights wear leggings and a sweatshirt. THEY ARE THE GOLDEN COMBO
I'm going to Bangladesh, Malaysia and Singapore for 1 month. I need to take a suitcase full of clothes and gifts. I don't really think that carry on will cover all that but other than that great video :)
Thank you for this video, it was really informative ! And yes, I would love to see a blog/life update type of video, but actually I'd watch every video you do so 😂
In tip #5, you recommended bringing your own herbal tea. I've seen many videos and warnings from flight attendants about not having tea or coffee on the plane. The water they use is not filtered and the lines aren't cleaned very often! That's why they give you bottled water to drink!
Diana Buck You could try ginger tea! the thing that calms your stomach is the ginger in it, which is proven to help stomachs being less uneasy, and If you have ginger tea it is more healthy, and will still help your stomach.
One thing overlooked is that the booze actually helps people who are afraid to fly. It has a calming effect that helps relax that flying anxiety. I say this because it consistently helped me.
My best flight tip - bring a small gift for your flight attendant. They cannot accept tips but small tokens of appreciation are allowed! If you fly a lot you’ll eventually have the same flight crew. They will remember you and they will do everything they can to give you the best experience possible! (I scored a free drink and snack once, and a small seat upgrade another time).
Lindsay Mc for some reason, I just love a burger king (or two) when I'm going through an airport.....costs twice the price but that's what I want, so I pay. 🍔🍟
how do you bring your own tea and food on the plane , your not allowed to bring anything through security from the out side .. or did you buy it in the airport after security ?
one tip I have which seems simple but it’s shocking how many people I’ve seen at the airport that don’t do this is get a mobile boarding pass. I cannot for the life of me keep track of a paper boarding pass so this comes through for me. you can still keep a paper boarding pass in your carryon in case your phone dies.
4:53 i left my phone in the seat back pocket but i remembered about it just as we entered the airport so we just went to someone, gave them my seat number and description of the phone, and they got it back :) (it took like half an hour though because it was during cleaning and moving)

People dress up for flights because back in the day it was seen as a classy thing to do. Not everyone traveled like now with the lowcost explosion.
Luciano Classical Guitar also, you are treated like cattle now, tiny seats unless you travel first or business, inedible food, dirty airports...
admenocal not true I live in Portland Oregon has one of the best airports around and our airport is not dirty ty very much...

You can tell how much more classless people are in airports these days. Not judging they are blatant.

Thank you so much.. I’m so basic and I’m going to Japan next month .. thank you for your positive & uplifting info..
I like dried fruits like apples and strawberries because you can snack on them, they don’t get stale and they are pretty healthy!
thanks!! tomorrow i have a flight from paris to seattle
I always only take carry on as it's quicker, easier and makes me feel more at ease knowing my luggage is above me. I'm a new subscriber ❤️
I have been looking at videos like these all day because I am going on a flight with no experience and no idea what I’m doing... great
A good time for flying, if you bring a bag of anything, either make a small hole or open the bag before you take off.
Oh, gosh. Load noises on planes, never a good thing lol. Great tip Zach, thanks!
My brother and I have a list of movies that are on flights and we always keep it with us so if we are bored, just watch one of those
Good tips and I appreciate that you are prepared when filming your videos. No going off topic and to the point.
In about two weeks im going from brisbane australia to dubai to venice which all together is about 23 hours and this helped so much
Valerian root is also good for sleep. I learned about it after learning i cant take melatonin without getting migraines the following morning.
I noticed this last time i was at the airport. I (jokingly) texted a few friends this pro tip. 😂
U no longer get to cut the line at security in the uk.
Thanks so much we’re going to Japan in July 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I've watched a lot of videos on how to fly and Know one else mentions the TSA Fly..quick line but YOU! Thank you!
if you need extra leg room empty the contents of the seat back pocket (magazines/safety cards) and put it in the over head bins and you can usually get an extra few inches
Still killin' it Lindsay!! I would love more vloggy/personal stuff. even if it's random and really has no point. I would looooove to see the life update/vlogs. Just make them rough and dirty, I'd love to see you anywhere just letting us know what's happening!
Thanks Rook :) Coming up!
Lindsay Mc yaaaaaaaaaaaaaas I'm soooo excited! Do it do it do it do it do it!!!!
Aka I Rook I
bob
I love listening to you about anything! Great tips! I just got my KTN from TSA !
Stuff like that :)
But keep it believable haha.
Otherwise just look out for deals. Flying business doesn't have to be that expensive.
I fly business from oslo to bejing often for 1200 euro..
I know that there are people who pay more then that for a coach ticket on the same plane as i am on every time.
I like this video as I’m gonna be traveling in nine days and my flight is around 6ish in the morning any tips for an early flight
But I’m going on a 2 week holiday, I’m obviously not going to pack a shit ton of clothes but more then a small carry on
what about permanently moving to another country across the world? How do you pack? 😣
But love the tips. New sub 💁
Don't pack anything. Fake your own death, move to the other country, grow a mustache, and start all over. Trust me, it's worth it.
clear is a service that you can use international or domestically, if the airports you are going to have the clear service.
These videos are tremendously helpful, but I think we'd enjoy hearing you talk off-the-cuff too. 🌎
KT1419 I'd love to hear her thoughts on geocentricity.
Tsa pre is the same as priority in the uk btw
I love watching these vids i have never traveled international so whats it like
I wear sweats as well i get super cold on airplane/airport. I normal bring my headphones ipad so i can watch my Netflix movies finally got how to download some lol word search next trip out to New Jersey i am going bring a book and magazine i normally take a nap i end up being late where i go down shore switch 2 hour ride from airport so basically sit for 6 hours :(
Thank you for sharing this beautiful video content I really like it
YES for 10! I’m submitting for Global Entry because customs almost made me miss a flight.
I remember leaving some expensive duty free skin care products on Etihad when flying from Japan to Dublin, but I managed to get it back when I rang the Dublin airport the next they. They kept it and even posted it to my house for me!
Flying to Canada this Tuesday... thanks for all the tips!
any advice for first time airplane travelers ?
I just wanted to know what your shirt said the whole time watching this.
one of the worst mistakes people make is mistaking comfort for loose clothing, clothing like super loose sweats or a bunch of layers can result in the clothes getting stuck in the belt and it can be a hassle to get out of ur seat, in warm weather wear leggings and a top wjth a sweatshirt, u can put the sweat shirt in ur bag if it gets too hot, on colder days and flights wear leggings and a sweatshirt. THEY ARE THE GOLDEN COMBO
As of Nov. 2019 Global Entry is only available in L.A or Sandiego in CA. No appointments available in SFO!
Great stuff! Very interesting about the TSA Pre and Global entry.
Oh and yes to life updates :D I'm keen to hear it all!
Yay! Thanks Angeliki!
This is helping me a little bit but I’m extremely scared of hijacking and terrorism I’m only going on a 2 hour flight to Poland but I’m super stressed
I'm going to Bangladesh, Malaysia and Singapore for 1 month. I need to take a suitcase full of clothes and gifts. I don't really think that carry on will cover all that but other than that great video :)
I’m going to India in a month, and I always watch these vids as soon as I find out I’m going lolllll
Thank you for this video, it was really informative !
And yes, I would love to see a blog/life update type of video, but actually I'd watch every video you do so 😂
GREAT VIDEO!!! Best travel tips vid IVE EVER WATCHED!!
In tip #5, you recommended bringing your own herbal tea. I've seen many videos and warnings from flight attendants about not having tea or coffee on the plane. The water they use is not filtered and the lines aren't cleaned very often! That's why they give you bottled water to drink!
Ginger ale is the only thing that cures my nausea on a long flight. Otherwise, I totally agree with all these tips.
Diana Buck You could try ginger tea! the thing that calms your stomach is the ginger in it, which is proven to help stomachs being less uneasy, and If you have ginger tea it is more healthy, and will still help your stomach.
What about juice?
Very informative & straightforward info.Thank you.
One thing overlooked is that the booze actually helps people who are afraid to fly. It has a calming effect that helps relax that flying anxiety. I say this because it consistently helped me.
I’m going to be staying in another country for a year… a checked bag would be okay yeha?
My best flight tip - bring a small gift for your flight attendant. They cannot accept tips but small tokens of appreciation are allowed!
If you fly a lot you’ll eventually have the same flight crew. They will remember you and they will do everything they can to give you the best experience possible! (I scored a free drink and snack once, and a small seat upgrade another time).
I’m going to Cyprus for 11 nights. Yeah carry on only sounds good.
Wow! Travel goals! Thanks for the vid!
thumbs up if airport if the best part of the holiday haha! i love it!!! a few cheeky cocktails and duty free shopping at 4am haha!!
11. Do NOT buy anything at the airport, NEVER. It's fucking expensive.
SO expensive and not the greatest options usually. I try to avoid it when I can for sure
Lindsay Mc for some reason, I just love a burger king (or two) when I'm going through an airport.....costs twice the price but that's what I want, so I pay. 🍔🍟
Thankyou for the video!❤️ I love to travel but HATE flying
thanks I will use then when I go to Poland and I've been in the since I was around 6 months old
how do you bring your own tea and food on the plane , your not allowed to bring anything through security from the out side .. or did you buy it in the airport after security ?
I’m going Canada in August and San Francisco is that in California?
KawaiiProductionsYT San Francisco is in California, the northern part of it.
I cannot hear what you say at 3:04 as you speaking so fast at that point. Meletones and PM? What are they?
one tip I have which seems simple but it’s shocking how many people I’ve seen at the airport that don’t do this is get a mobile boarding pass.
