    I recently bought the 35-70 for a replacement for my 32-64. I do landscape photography and the weight savings of this lens over the 32-64 is significant. As well the 35-70 obtains optimal sharpness in the corners at f/8 whereas the 32-64 needs f/11-f/16. IMO this is the best zoom lens on the market for landscape photographers. It is a killer lens!

      Indeed Pete - I love this lens too. And its non-intrusive, people do not feel disturbed based on the compact design.

    Really useful video. As Fuji pricing down gfx100s I can now consider a budget set for medium format with this lens but I wonder how it performs on 100MP sensor, and it seems that works excellently. Thank you.

    This is a medium format camera nothing is cropped or reduced, it's a full size medium format digital camera period.

      Thanks for your comment, Ed. What I mean is the following. Broadly speaking any film or sensor larger than 35mm format (24x36mm image size) is subsumed under "medium format". So your comment is spot-on, the GFX cameras are medium format cameras, period. But in digital photography, the top league of medium format sensors are, for instance, in Phase One or Hasselblad digital backs (e.g., H6D) where the sensor size is give-or-take 53.4x40mm. These sensors I call "full medium format" because they are in the same size league as typical medium format film. The Fuji GFX100s and the Hasselblad X2D in contrast have a sensor size give-or-take of 44x33mm, so substantially smaller. These sensors I call "cropped medium format". There is a lot of confusion about medium format and sensor sizes out there, in particular since Fuji (see their website) calls the sensors in the GFX cameras "large format" which is completely mis-leading since "large format" refers to film photography with a much larger image size than medium format. I hope this helps.

      Had the same thought 😃 it‘s shot wide open that‘s why. He should have stopped down to about f11 I‘d say.

    Got this one on my 50Sii. Medium format for under 2 grand. It’s awesome.

    I really enjoyed your video of this lens. I love my GFX100S in fact in 2 weeks I'm going to Mongolia to shoot the nomads of Western Mongolia with my Fujifilm GFX100S , Nikon Z9 and my Leica M10. I go the new Voitlander F1.0 today 50mm

    Decided after selling my 100S, I want to get back into this format (4:3) even though I will also keep my M11, M11M, Q3 and SL3. O was lookng for your review of the 20-35 Fuji GFX, but cannot find it. Have you tired this lens?

    Love the 35-70; however I find the focus is off at 70mm wide open; is this not the case in your experience?

    Matt, if you could only choose one camera, what would you buy? Fuji GFX 100s, Canon R5, Nikon Z9?

    • @mathphotographer
      @mathphotographer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha! You know, Vladimir, I got this question so often and never answered it :) I love Leica very much, and I guess from a happiness perspective, Leica makes me really happy. From a workhorse perspective for jobs, the Nikon Z9 and Fuji GFX100s are great! But I also use frequently my Canon R5, the Sony A1 and my Hasselblad and Phase One. Latter two mentioned mostly for landscape and architecture. So its good that I do not have to make that decision, we have them all in the studio and I choose whats best suited fot a shooting depending on scene, subject and situation.

      @@mathphotographer May I ask you which Leica? SL or M? I own M only from Leica (had q2m - wonderful camera as well). I would pick m11 or m10r over any other camera atm if I had to have only one camera. :)

    One of the cheapest lenses I've bought (for any system) and one of the best ...

    Especially at the moment with the ongoing Fujifilm deals, the whole package is 6k in Germany. 😮 This is amazing value. Even though I am looking into the X2D for that different rendering character. 😅

    • @mathphotographer
      @mathphotographer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both, the GFX100s and the X2D are fantastic. There are various differences between the two which I plan to show in a video early 2023.

    Will you be testing the 100-200 zoom? I have the 23, the 32-64 and I’m considering this zoom over the two telephoto primes. Love the channel BTW - excellent and precise reviews.

    I like the build quality and zoom range. I hate that it is external zooming.

      I was out on the beach in very very heavy winds and harsh rain several times for many hours. Extended and and using it in theese conditions. The weight is super low, af is quick and it renders well. i had 0 issues with it. Its the best value for money.

    A great review and set up. Unfortunately overkill for what I do as an enthusiast
    However the price tag for both lens and camera is probibley not much more than some full frame set ups?
