Great video….great content and knowledge . Golf mk4 Pd engines just keep going and arguably a bargain at £400. Partner had the same one from new in that colour and spec from new for 15 years and we were still getting close to 60mpg at 130k miles before we sold it. Enjoyed this episode as always. I agree on the diesel Saab. It looked great in black but the 2 litre petrol turbo is the one to have. ULEZ friendly and you can save some money by buying the lowest powered 150bhp version and then send the ECU off to Noobtune which increases power to 220bhp and 360nm of torque, absolute weapon in the mid range. Golf GT 2.0 tdi Sport 170 smoke is a common stuff ,Faulty injector or Glow Plug issue Happens to almost everyone of them. Easy fix. They fetch a small fortune nowadays. Also from a dealer since 1989 I don't you have enough experience, 3 Door Hatchback is not always a good choice. Only 3 dr Corsa Polo or Bmw 1 series are worth the investment. Zafira is the right Colour always a good seller.Peugeot no thanks unless it's an Auto.
Love the videos and temped to go to an auction or two myself. What time do you need to arrive at Prees by to register and have a look round at potentials..?
Surprised to here the -ve about Fiat Diesels… I had a Corsa (which was a punto chell) 1248 90hp Fiat engine… absolutely fabulous, proper 6 speed gearbox not like the crash reverse 5 speed they went back to… also I had a 16 Reg Zafira for 2 weeks with 2ltr Fiat diesel with a true autobox , glided along to Staithes n back at about 1500 revs, smooth n torque at low revs… but I don’t experience after loads of miles go on the dash… 😮
Not so much a issue at that age but when they get 10 Year old plus they become problematic where's other engines (its competitors) don't seem to have and carry on with little issues
Went to Abs last year and same thing, pretend trader saying he'd not bid on an x type, anyway I had a word and bought it for 600,my son actually went to Geneva in it, car under a grand for charity thing, performed 100% everybody else scrapped their cars in Switzerland, it costs 400 e to scrap a car there.
Always enjoy your uploads Lee. A firm favourite channel of mine and I particularly respect your car trade honesty. Can I ask do you let Aston know you're filming or is it all done covertly?
I used to spend a lot of time at Enfield and Paddock wood when I was younger. I dabbled but nothing too serious. bought a few sold them on, a little bit of extra money. I liked low mileage or good quality brands. Only thing I lost on was a 2011 Renault clio , bought for £2350 spent about £350 on it and got rid at £2500. We needed the space as we were moving. Keep up the Vid's it makes me feel like going along to this one. How do you get the free breakfast?😂
The MK2 TT looks very dated inside and out. The Merc looked nice, surprised to see these sort of cars at Auction. Good getting that Zafira and the Clio.
Maybe you could allow your fans to join you - so long as they bring some money and then you could have some fun picking up cars for them and then at least you can tell the wife that you've already flogged them! No wonder Aston Barclay likes you - you are drumming up new customers for them every day.
On the saab if you can find a decent one are they still worth buying? How easy is it to get parts and have em repaired etc given saab went bust many years ago ?
I can only assume that because of loan interest rates going up then it is fuelling cheaper end of the market increasing auction demand because it's within reach of most people's savings.
Hi Lee loving the content 👍I am thinking of buying an early BMW Mini (as a future classic)don't want one with the prince engine! What year's should I be looking at?
To be honest anything pre 2006 will fit the bill, they do suffer with corrosion on the floor pans behind the fuel tank which can be expensive to put right at that age. A cooper S will be the one that will be the biggest riser with out doubt but even a standard cooper will go up in value if kept clean in the coming years. Try and find the best lowest milage example you can afford👍
Nothing wrong with Mondeo Engines of this type. It makes more sense 2nd hand with that engine too. The next Engines they used are much more expensive to fix and work on.
HELL MAN I LOVE THAT REDDISH JAGUAR. GOING FOR ONLY 900 POUNDS. THAT'S ABOUT R18,000 ( THAT'S SOUTH AFRICAN RAND) .I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO BUY IT AS I'M A JAG-FAN.
@@carukchannel not too bad bud, but yeah you end up with loads of mold, I actually fully painted it a few years ago, had a rebuilt box on it as well, left it out side, summers evening, massive downpour, so paint ruined.
not really, i like that tackle but its not what i deal in and what i am experienced with. keep to the older stuff but will always show review newer cars as they are all relevant
@@carukchannel when I was trading I used to look forward to the newer stuff becoming value so could start buying it etc. used to do loads of Passat estates 4 years old ex lex etc and main dealer pxs like Inchcape used to get some nice late cars really good value but that was 02-07 different times. £3800 would buy a four year old miley Passat tdi 306 meridian estates for £2900 😄
I think I would have gone for that BMW I was hoping to see a Volvo go through to get an idea of the prices that they are going for and considering going up to Exeter Auction but apparently, they only do bidding online so not a fan because as you said you can not see them go through and possibly hear or see possible faults with the vehicle
Can you give details of what sources you use for pricing cars (what they book at?) and any other material someone should be using as starting out? Thanks
Most of the time its just knowledge I have picked up over the years. at The auction the sheet guides we use have cap prices on them which is a dealers guide to monthly adjusting prices of vehicles in the UK. Occasionally If I am stuck on something the I will use auto trader as reference for resale prices
You need an intervention - someone needs to go with you to these sales and stop you buying them - or quickly buy them off you before the wife finds out!

Drivers can be helpfull for info but you can get in the cars before they go through and test for clutch bite and steering etc
@@carukchannel ok no worries
ah those zafiras i got £325 for a cat on an x reg 1 8 £175 scrap and 25 for the wiring stil got the rear lenses and had 4 years out of it for £290 great motor if you service it yearly
Wasn't mad on anything there apart from the nice Merc maybe , am looking for something reliable with a little refinement at the mo actually was considering a polo but you say the Volkswagen's can suffer with sill rot. Maybe a Yaris or similar for me. Great content as usual Lee 😊
polo is not a bad shout, its golfs of that age that seem to be temperamental
@@carukchannel Thanks Lee .
What time do you need to arrive at Prees by to register and have a look round at potentials..?
auctions starts at 10 on a thursday, I would say get there for 9am ish to give time to view around
Please make some other video regarding bidding procedure, registration in auction for fresher
Another great video.
I appreciate that
That Smokey golf reminds me to never buy online. The room was dead on it!
yes guys in the room were not having it
Don't understand the online bidders either. Obviously more money than sense.
Can I ask do you let Aston know you're filming or is it all done covertly?
they know i am filming and happy for me to do it stuart, i am also off to some other auctions soon with permission 👍
Its for trade account holders but its first up best dressed, you need be in early for the free breakfast 🤣
@@carukchannel I think I will be paying for my brekkie.😂
The MK2 TT looks very dated inside and out. The Merc looked nice, surprised to see these sort of cars at Auction. Good getting that Zafira and the Clio.
Thanks 👍
Love these videos!
Thanks Ted 👍👍
@@carukchannel No problem! Don't know why I put a question mark.
Maybe you could allow your fans to join you - so long as they bring some money and then you could have some fun picking up cars for them and then at least you can tell the wife that you've already flogged them! No wonder Aston Barclay likes you - you are drumming up new customers for them every day.
Nice one Lee 🙂🚗🚘✌️
Just got my missis a replacement civic for her 10 plate 2,2 7 year ago £3,300 with a 12 2,2 costing £4000 🤷🤦♂️👍
What you bought was decent I think i would of had a pop at the black BM aswell can’t win them all Lee there’s always next week
Yes I should of had a go at it to be fair
Alteration. In the block. Always happens once a month or so.
I would have bid on the Saab...one of the nicer cars in that lot...rare too...
On the saab if you can find a decent one are they still worth buying? How easy is it to get parts and have em repaired etc given saab went bust many years ago ?
parts are not bad to get hold of, yes a nice one is well worth having 👍
Appreciate your expertise. I see Astons do Motability sales - do they generally represent good value?
yes
@@carukchannel thanks Lee your knowledge and experience is invaluable 👍
that red Fiesta Sport has been there for a long time
Nothing wrong with Mondeo Engines of this type. It makes more sense 2nd hand with that engine too. The next Engines they used are much more expensive to fix and work on.
Not suggesting there is a issue with the Mondeo engines far from it, they were good engines. 👍
HELL MAN I LOVE THAT REDDISH JAGUAR. GOING FOR ONLY 900 POUNDS. THAT'S ABOUT R18,000 ( THAT'S SOUTH AFRICAN RAND) .I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO BUY IT AS I'M A JAG-FAN.
You would be the talk south Africa billy 👍👍😁Thanks for watching bud
Pity the X type wasn’t the V6 the 2 litre diesel ones were shocking
Thank you.
I've actually given Aston barclay a miss for a few weeks, I'm working thru stock I've built up, just on with one from 2019!
Bet its lovely inside 🤣🤣
@@carukchannel not too bad bud, but yeah you end up with loads of mold, I actually fully painted it a few years ago, had a rebuilt box on it as well, left it out side, summers evening, massive downpour, so paint ruined.
@@roystonvehicles9129that’s a shame bud

Your motivation for the mundane is incredible - do you not fancy buying the next generation ie Scirocco or 13-18 plate stuff?
not really, i like that tackle but its not what i deal in and what i am experienced with. keep to the older stuff but will always show review newer cars as they are all relevant
@@carukchannel when I was trading I used to look forward to the newer stuff becoming value so could start buying it etc. used to do loads of Passat estates 4 years old ex lex etc and main dealer pxs like Inchcape used to get some nice late cars really good value but that was 02-07 different times. £3800 would buy a four year old miley Passat tdi 306 meridian estates for £2900 😄
Zaf for nowt. Excellent. Heard about touching subject new shape C4. Remember video on that. Needed engine. Whatever happened to her
Its done, I am due to film the part 3 on it monday so will look to get it out later next week 👍
What she does not know can't hurt her 😁😁
