Lots of beaches in amd around St John
The Carlton Martello Tower was built to defend Saint John from the Americans during the War of 1812, not during the Second World War.
Fundy is much more a Moncton attraction than SJ, 30% closer and all the restaurants, cute towns, hopewell rock, cape enrage are on the Moncton side. Saint John is better suited as a base for St Martin and fundy trail Parkway (not too be confused with Funday national park). Both are excellent areas and must see's in NB :)
