A nice view point in Saint John is on Fort Howe. Above the 'Saint John' sign. You get a great view of the harbour and the 'up' town area of the city and the cruise ships.
I just checked this out on Google maps. Dang, I missed that! That vantage would have made a nice reverse angle for the video. Thanks for the tip, good one!
Thank you for this great report on Saint John as a cruise port. The majority of cruise ship visits occur in September and October after the summer holidays. Your video captured the region's Fall beauty.
Haven't been there since 1975, visiting my grandma on my Dad's side, but both grandparents on my Mom's side were from St John as well. My ancestor left New England to fight the French in the 7 Years War, and never came back. Supporting the Crown during the Revolution, the family had to hide in the woods when the Americans attacked Fort Cumberland.
@@ThePortLowdown Hard to know since I haven't been there. I was actually there a lot when I was young, since that's where all the relatives were, but our generation didn't keep up the contact. One interesting thing I found was ancestors in the 17th century before the move to Canada living in the city I live in now, so it's been a big circle.
Kinda reminds me about growing up in Honolulu. I found out I had a cousin on my father's side who had a store in the same neighborhood I grew up in. But way back when there was a Hawaiian king.
Great informative video!!! We will be in Saint John in August and taking your advice on car rental. How did they know to pick/drop off at the port? I don’t see an option on the website. Do you call to arrange that? TYVM in advance!!

Thank you!

@@ThePortLowdown Great, thank you so much!!!
Great info. Do you think 5.5 hours is enough time to drive to Saint Martin? What month weee you there?
We were there in October. 5.5 is plenty, there was hardly any traffic.
No Uber there.
Yes, you're right! Thanks for confirming!
oh, the pronunciation of scotia bank, my friend, the word is pronounced sko-sha
Ah! Thank you and noted.
"Scotia" as in Nova Scotia.
Just FYI - S-C-O-T-I-A is pronounced "Skosha"
Noted. Thanks!
