Kim Jung Gi's work continues to inspire me. One of the main reasons I am still drawing to this day - I'd have likely given up upon entering college were it not for this man. Keep on drawing master Kim, your work is truly one of a kind.
I discovered how to use his technique and he tells you how all the time. It’s simple but not easy. He says in one of his videos to “put as much detail as possible and that will help cover for mistakes!” For example in this video he details the sewing machines in different angles Basically, know the subject and put as much detail as you can... The work will look great. I did exactly that! I picked one topic “motorcycles” and drew people riding with faces of my friends. Instead of memorizing the bikes I simply used a bunch of references from Pinterest. I also used a pencil... With a general attention to perspective (nothing crazy) I had very similar results, or more accurately, similar style of richness! TRY IT! Put as much detail as you can WITHOUT trying to be perfectly similar to the references!

Nah,you can actually achieve good results with a ballpoint pen,it's pretty easy to control. The only downside is that the ink tend to bleed if you try to put markers on top.
@@-kurow-7113 yeah. But the I think the term is “ink poop” or “ink boogers,” the splotches of ink that eventually come out of the pen as a result of using it a lot is that you can smudge those to add style to your drawing.

To be able to see how he thinks and creates the images in his small sketch using fish eye perspective will truely help many aspiring artists understand what he means by when he said he looks at one part of the room (middle) puts it on paper, then he looks to his sides and puts it creating a curvilinear perspective. The reason he's so good and has developed such a good visual library is because he literally draws at EVERY moment he can and has done so since he was very little. Even when he didn't have a pen in his hand he would visualize himself drawing objects and examine every detail. Besides, he's explained before that he combines elements of his visual library to create things. Each of the things you see him draw here are a combination of a bunch of small aspects he's drawn before. Unless you have Aphantasia then you absolutely have the chance of becoming this good IF you put in the amount of time and effort he has. Art is as easy as learning to read or write. You do those extremely often so they become imprinted in your memory. At a point drawing becomes that natural. There aren't many who can do what he does because there aren't many with the spare time to put in or the mental fortitude to endure doing the same thing all the time. By the way, this is coming from a person who has worked on developing his visualization skills. Last year I couldn't visualize anything and now I've learned a lot about how to do so. Besides, even if you can't visualize, just knowing the properties of the item you wish to draw can be enough. If you wanna call their comment "feel good bullshit" then yours must be "I'm a lazy sack of shit who doesn't want to put in effort so I'm going to attribute someone's better skill to an unachievable anomaly."
Kim uses all sorts of pens to draw with. I've seen him drawing with a Korean Airlines pen before - any tool can be effective if you know your shit, and Kim most certainly knows his shit.

Had a friend whom only used ball point to draw. It's quite good. Pressure sensitivity gives ability to sketch lightly. All though Kim is next level.
