    Looks great, love the 3d printed trumpets

      They look great don't they? Infinitely customisable with any length and curve you can wish for too.

      So are we! We'll keep prodding him until he's done it.
      Or just ply him with coffee...

    Very good installation, particularly the radiator. Ive dyno tested various lengths on various specs, and as is obvious the short set ups like the DTH ones lack performance right through the rev range.
    Curves in the intake are not a problem if they're gentle. I tip the whole assembly forward via the inlet manifold or trumpets on a DTH set up then use longer horns. Once you get into the 360-380 zone overall from the valve you start to drop the peak rpm point where max power is made, but can add a little midrange or fill in holes if wild cams are used.
    200hp and 170ibft is more than plenty before costs spiral upwards.

      Thanks for the time-served expert reply. From memory, we can use the 3rd reflection wave when the track is as you say 360-400mm. Shorter than this use the weaker 4th wave in pulse tuning that's gone there and back once more.

      Thank you! I didn't know about the effects of short intake length until we did this video, so a learning opportunity all round!

      With the right supporting mods and a decent length intake, the benefits are clear to see.

      I thought it may come in use for you. You're going to have to watch out for the water outlet in the top of the head if the KR one doesn't angle down like the ABF one. May be worth swapping to an ABF one if possible to give you that extra clearance?

    • @markwagar8735
      @markwagar8735 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @golfmk2 yes exactly. The kit I order has a an angled outlet as part of it. But yes room is Still going to be tight

      @@markwagar8735 certainly a tight fit, but hopefully this video will give you a clear idea of what works and how it can look. Best start adding those items to your basket. 😅

    Great video..I’ve been sceptical about running the Honda rad on my Vw due to the top fill rad and been a pain to bleed but I see you have made it happen 🎉🎉..what’s it like for cooling ??

    • @ABF16V
      @ABF16V 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      On a drive this setup heads towards over-cooling, due to my low temp thermostat. Circuit use it is perfect, coolant temps in the 90-100 C, oil temps similar

    Could you do a video on a dyno demonstration open vs closed air filter?

    • @golfmk2
      @golfmk2  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be very interesting actually. I reckon there'd be quite a difference in torque between the two. @abf16vftw may know the likely outcome without even the need for the dyno runs!

    • @ABF16V
      @ABF16V ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Open filter should make very little difference vs the ITG JC50 Air Filter. Can incorporate this into a vid with the two different intake trumpet lengths

    • @golfmk2
      @golfmk2  ปีที่แล้ว

      It'd certainly be interesting to compare figures for the two intake lengths as described in the video. Hard evidence between the differences the two intake lengths torque figures

    Are you running vacuum advance with a plenum? I tought about doing it with mine on Weber 45s with my ignition management but not sure if it's worth it over TPS.

    • @golfmk2
      @golfmk2  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As this ABF is running a coil pack, there is no vacuum advance

    • @ForSunday
      @ForSunday 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@golfmk2 How is the ECU determining load? TPS? I saw the orange hoses and manifold and thought the load sense might be through direct load measurement rather than TPS.

    • @ABF16V
      @ABF16V 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ForSunday vacuum take-offs join and go the MAP sensor in the ECU. There's effectively a curve map that splits the load into MAP based speed density for small throttle openings, part throttle, and over this curve it is TPS based.
      The spark for idle is spark scatter, keeping the rpm stable in any condition

    How do you get to the radiator cap?

    • @ABF16V
      @ABF16V ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't actually use it, wanted to keep the expansion tank, so the cap on mine is gutted and links to the VW expansion tank.
      Could be accessed easy enough with the 2 extra top brackets removed and tilting the rad back.
