I think it is really important that you call it like you see it. When you say you weren't a fan of a certain place, everyone knows those are your impressions, not an edict from God. Those of us that will follow in your footsteps later can better choose where we want to go if what you say is honest and you are open about the challenges. Keep up the good work! Cheers

Thank you, Carol. We have had people go to places after watching our videos in the past and would hate to give the wrong impression. These are just our opinions, and some may disagree with us. Thank you again for the comments and for watching our channel!! ❤

Love your videos and watch every week. Wish you would put what time of year you were there in your videos more often which would be especially helpful when we rewatch your older videos. Thanks for inspiring us to travel more.

I agree. I wish every travel vlogger would state what time of year they visited a place. It would help give the viewers a better idea of how busy it is, what the weather is like, and how to dress (and pack) appropriately.

Double thumbs up for this idea. Weather can make all the difference to a visitor's experience of a place; everywhere looks better in sunshine! Likewise, a week of rain in Jan in Paris is expected (museums!) while a week of rain in Aug in the Gili islands can be more of a washout.

We're happier in smaller cities/large towns - near to water. A cool sea breeze even in the tropics is preferable. A high-rise apartment, no flying insects, open windows - no aircon. A balcony overlooking the seaview - happy days!

In Bangkok I was entertained just watching the crazy stuff on the streets. The 1st time I was there I saw an elephant walking down the street. If you need a dentist in Bangkok I recommend the smiles dental clinic. Also in Phuket try the James Bond Island tour.

We are full-time travelers, too, currently in Kuala Lumpur in the same building where you stayed. We fell for the hype and booked five long weeks. We feel pretty much the same -- it's just not resonating with us. There is a great variety in food, but the traffic is horrendous and the area where we are is not at all walkable because of the weather and the difficulty crossing streets safely. We don't love Malaysian food, so we have to take Grabs nearly every day to the malls for a better selection (agree about the excellent Chinese food). Medical facilities here are world-class, but once we are done with our medical stuff, we may bounce out early. Next scheduled stop is Da Nang -- maybe we will head there early for some extra time in Hoi An. Thanks for your videos.

    • @BrianandCarrie

Yes, it was unfortunate as so many had said they loved it. Just showed us, once again, we are all looking for something a bit different. You will love Da Nang and Hoi An, the food it wonderful and has such a much more relaxed back feel from KL. Safe travels - Cheers!

Great timing. I am in Montenegro atm and am making up my mind between Albania, Tirana and Durres and Istanbul and Antalya, Turkey. I have to agree on the best beer - Czech being my number one. Had a Budvar today :). I also found a great brewery in the heart of Vienna around Xmas time. It is called '1516'. The atmosphere is great. I sat outside as they had the heaters on. Food is very tasty and affordable. Salzburg was on my list but didn't make it. I must visit. I wonder if you considered Budapest. I truly enjoyed the beauty of that shiny town, its bridges and Danube river, as well as the great food and specialty coffees. Great and cheap public transport although their people don't speak English much and aren't that often friendly. It depends. I truly fell in love with this city and Xmas markets etc. I also love Bangkok with its friendly people and great food. I might go back on the way back to Australia. Not a fan of muggy days either. I almost fainted once or twice. I was also there during the rain period. I also forgot to say that I find Munich boring after day 3 and I went three - four times in the past two years. I'd rather go to a Bavarian village or to Alps. Thank you for your great travel insights!

    Great travel summary vlog!!!
Bangkok has been my #1 city since first going there in the late 90s and then almost annually up until I came home in 2020. I love that city. Bangkok has excellent medical services. Back in the early 2000s, I went into Bumrungrad and got a medical card just in case I needed to use it. About a couple years later, I had a bad knee injury here at home, still went to Bangkok for the annual trip, and when I got there went to Bumrungrad and got excellent service and for under $40. I went there as it's closest to where I usually stay as it only took around 15 minutes to get there and was close to Nana BTS station and my serviced apartment building is right at Promphong BTS. Plus, Bumrungrad had a free shuttle service that dropped one off right at Nana BTS station and then one could just take the escalator up to the skytrain area which saved my injured knee on the way back to my serviced apartment building attached to Emporium Mall.
I also found Chiangmai beautiful and interesting, but was there in the late 90s. I've heard, over the years, how much it has built up. I probably wouldn't recognize it.
I really wish I had also gone to Vietnam and I had planned to go on the 2019/2020 trip while still in the region. But, decided against adding on another country and stuck with Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore for six weeks. It's too bad that you didn't get to Indonesia.
Milan is wonderful. I'm glad you got there and also liked it. I love Milan. Florence is also great! And as for Istanbul, it was a wonderful experience. I hope to get back one day.
    Greetings from Los Angeles

I was just in Bangkok (for a yearly health check) and stayed for about ten days. I have been to that city about 20 times (and twice to Chiang Mai) and still look forward to every time I visit. So many new things to explore each time!!! I've traveled around Turkey a bit (it's one of my favorite countries!), but never made it to Antalya (I always had an image of it being the Cancun for Russian oligarchs :-) but I can't wait to check it out now! I lived in Saigon for three years and loved visiting Hoi An multiple times. I would move back in a second. I wish I could give this video more than one thumbs up. ;-)

funny that when i was digging around on TH-cam for Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui videos last year, i stumbled across your channel. I enjoyed your content and although i had been to Thailand a few times before, its always good to see whats new and things others might have done. I then started searching Turkey for a trip in September and boom and there you guys were with another great video from that area and i absolutely fell in love the country. Istanbul is pure magic. The history, food and vibe are so good. Ditto for Goreme and Antalya. Then when i was searching for Andalusia videos, you guys popped up again and i got some good ideas for my trip there. Just like you said, southern Spain is fabulous. The food was beyond good and the scenery was gorgeous. Vietnam is next and i enjoyed your videos from there. We just stayed three weeks in Chiang Mai and liked it as well. I would caution you against traveling through India or even Morocco in some places if you find dirty locations bother you! We just finished a month of traveling through India and wow ... beautiful friendly people, incredible food and probably the most welcome we've ever felt in a country. By then you two will be known as, BC! Love the abbrev but kind of snobby with just being known as initials. 😂😂😂😂😂 Brian humor....I hope?🤔🤨🙄😂 Cheers, you Turkeys!!!!😇😂😂😂😂😂 2024 is going to be a GREAT year!

Hello from the PNW... Grew up in Skagit Co., went to WWU and now live in the Tri-Cities. Thanks for the great summary of places you've been and I've added a few to our own bucket list. I apologize if you've covered this in another video, but one city that we really enjoyed traveling to this year was Ljubljana in Slovenia. After getting off a cruise ship, we took a Flixbus from Trieste and stayed for 4 days before heading to Vienna. We mostly stayed within the old town area. Good food, friendly people, and wonderful sights. One of the best farmer markets that we've seen. Btw, couldn't agree with you more about Vienna. What a beautiful city!

Brian, my husband heard me watching this video and said you need tell him about trip in Kelheim Germany! You take the boat trip up the gorge to the monks abbey for a true german beer experience! The other fun beer experience is the Toure de Gouze (speilling?) out of Brussels! I am not a beer drinker and I had a blast! A bus takes you to all the breweries for the big day of tasting and it was like $20 ea.! Great deal and I learned I enjoy Krieks!!! Who knew! Can do the Toure de Gouze or the Night of Great Thirst, depends on if odd or even year.
We enjoy watching your travels online! We are from Tacoma WA, and are in our 3rd month living abroad in France. We have enjoyed all of our travels in Europe but really loved France and decided to retire, sell everything, put some stuff in storage and try living here in France for a year. If not now, when? My question was . . . We are interested in Antayla for a month, what area would you recommend for our airbnb? Thanks, happy new year!

Great video. When you get back to Chang Mai you might find it fun going to the elephant sanctuary and play with the elephants,i enjoyed the one where they don't make them ride you around, instead feed and bathe them. Another excursion is to head towards Chang Rai just to check out all the different temples. There's the black one, white one golden and silver one (in Chang Mai with carvings in the silver walls and ceilings show rare prehistoric animals and flying saucers(w/aliens w/antenna heads, not kidding)) Some of the temples request Small donations. Look into a tree to more remote Pai . Was planning on returning and retire there before covid changed, delayed plans.

I love your slow travel approach. We’re not full time travellers but we try to take the same approach to our 3 week trips. We find 3 nights is our minimum for most places, that gets us 2 full days to explore. Five nights is our minimum for bigger cities. I also take the neighbourhood approach to big cities. It has worked well for us in Paris, Lisbon, Rome, Lima, and Auckland.
But like Carrie, I often appreciate the smaller cities and towns that we visit the most. Sintra, Portugal; Ollantaytambo, Peru; Nelson, NZ; Paestum, Italy and the Dordogne Valley in France, all come to mind.
Türkiye is the country that keeps coming up as I consider our travel plans for this year. I was delighted to hear your thoughts about Antalya. I’d never heard of it before but I watched one of Karl Watson’s videos about the Türkiye tour he put together with Intrepid and Antalya instantly pinged my radar.
Do you experience that when you’re planning where to go? I had it happen for Sintra - I saw a photo of the inverted tower at Quinta da Regaleira and had the immediate thought “I want to go *there* !” And that was the genesis of our trip to Portugal. That ping also happened for Ollantaytambo, Peru. I read a few things on the tripadvisor forums and I just knew Ollantaytambo had to be part of our itinerary for Peru.

We do have that happen. Cappadocia is a good example of that. We will be back in Turkey this spring and very much looking forward to it.
Portugal was our first trip together and Sintra is one of our favorite places! Thank you for watching and thank you for all the suggestions on where to go!!
      Cheers!!🍻

You should check out Nha Trang (dry season from January to August) and Da Lat (good weather from January to March) next time you are in Vietnam 😊

Brian............You definitely should watch The Sound of Music. Seriously! I watched it for the 1st time when I was 18. The college I was attending had a showing of it. It has been a favorite "classic" ever since. Also, If you haven't seen Fiddler on the Roof, it is another "must see" classic.

I will make sure I do soon. I have seen Fiddler on the Roof a couple of times in a live performance. 😁
