Daiwa - RS 1355 - Autocast Fixed Spool Fishing Reel.
A typically nice 1980s Daiwa fixed spool with the useful feature of a mechanism called AutoCast which enables one handed casting via a lever on the bail assembly.

Back in the 80’s I used this very reel to learn how to fish with a spinning reel. I recently found it in storage and currently restoring back to new.

I LOVE this reel. Bought it back in the early 80's and it was my go to reel for everything - flounder, rockfish, bluefish, you name it. Problem is, I loved it but didn't love it right. I abused it, never rinsed it, and eventually the gears rusted out to the point where it could not be fixed.
The autocast is incredibly handy and vastly underrated. I don't understand why it isn't on every spinning reel sold today.

I wonder why they don't make them with that AutoCast anymore. Shimano has them on there really really cheap real. I just found this Daiwa with it and it's a bigger school so I'm excited to try it then summer. But I really love that feature I don't know why they don't use it anymore is there a way to buy that parts and put it on any kind of real

There have been a few types/makes of autocast open-face reels over the years: for example the Mitchell Otomatic/330 . They all work fine but as far as I can tell they were moderately successful only. Another way to go would be the closed face match type reels such as the Abu 506 etc

No I'm not interested in a closed face I just like the fact that it's one handed you know you can just click it and go. I just wish they made it with the better real. I just found out Shimano is still making it with a Stradic. For fifty bucks maybe I'll get one of those

@@spider32176 it says Shimano r2000. I got it at Dick's and then the other one broke and I got another one I think at Walmart a super Walmart just the real
