    Noobie here. I bought the 2wd version so it was cheaper to upgrade to these aluminum and steel parts without feeling guilty spending over $500 on a RC since I'm new. Hell, half the fun is upgrading. Thanks for the video. It's helping me so much.

    I purchased my Rustler 4x4 VXL last year and since then Installed the Traxxas light kit and Traxxas Telemerty sensors. And Red heavy duty control arms.

    LOL I do the same thing with the foam, IDK why I keep every single piece but its to nice to throw away LOL! The Rustlers looking awesome Greg, upgraded to the max!

      They actually make great battery spacers

    I've cut up the foam and made pads and spacers to make some batteries fit lil more snuggly in thier cradle for hard bashing 💯

    I used to save them as well! Ended up using them when mounting esc. I put a piece under it to reduce shock and vibration. Good stuff RCD!

    I like the fuel tube mod on the stub axles so the aluminum hexes don't fall off when you hold up the truck for the outro

    Use some of that foam and tuck it into the shock absorber portion of the bumpers. Will help to keep them from breaking the loops

    I have those same Traxxas driveshafts on my Rustler 2WD VXL, one of them exploded within 20 seconds of running on pavement, one cup sheared in half and the side with the set screw came out even with Loctite in it.

    How do you secure the 1654X hex hubs? They don’t have the little set screws like some of the other aluminum hubs. Mine just slide off which allows the pin to fall out the moment I take the wheels off.

  • @rpm-zr4fh
    @rpm-zr4fh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, I think you set it up really nice where you could use this as a tutorial to perform the upgrade as well as get some input on why the upgrade helps. Has anyone tried the hardened steel output yokes "Traxxas 4628X Differential Output Yokes" found on Amazon? I would like to upgrade because this is what keeps breaking on mine and I wondered if I could save some money and just buy these instead. The plastic is cost effective and can be replaced without making my wallet unhappy but nothing is unbreakable. These things are really expensive and I would rather not eat the cost of one if it breaks.

    • @luftwaffle6701
      @luftwaffle6701 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      rpm 9000 yes, the hardened steel would be stronger. But if you strengthen that part, that breaking force must go to another part. If it is just steel and not aluminum, be sure to not run in water if you don’t want rust.

      I’ll check it out! Any parts you recommend first? I’m thinking of doing the 2.8 Proline tires but was thinking first I’d get a fan and replace that plastic busking with a metal one. Seems to be the consensus. I figure anything else I’ll replace when it breaks! 😂

    Does anyone know if the Traxxas steel CVD's can handle be driven on 3s only? I have had Yeah Racing steel ones on the front of my Stampede 4x4 and they just broke yesterday. I only drive my Stampede on 3s. I don't want to spend $70 if they are going to break. Or should I just do MIP?

    • @Shellbackrc
      @Shellbackrc 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      MIP can only be used on the 2s batteries because its designed purely for racing.
