You did a fantastic job at showing us how to hook up the gauge. I’m working on a 47 Chevy cowboy of a truck. And you had your hand in on it. So you’re going to get credit in my scrapbook for the car shows.
Would I be able to just tap into the oem wiring harness for the sending unit if I’m installing an aftermarket gauge for fuel? My gauge went out (g35 problem)
Awesome build bro! Im actually doing an ls swap on my e46 as well. At the moment i am trying to figure out how to mount a gas pedal with the Gen 3 and tac box.
I though sparks were gone came out of the gauge when you connected to the battery because you didnt put the little insulator carboard, hopefully u realised and put them on. Good video
i need help, please! i have the same type of fuel cell and I'm going full dumb on trying to wire up my stock gauge with a stock wire harness that was going to the stock tank. i cant find which wire goes to the fuel sending unit. I cant find a diagram for my truck anywhere. does the correct wire have a constant 12 volts with key on? witch wire on the fuel cell is the ground? thank you!
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, just a tip, try not to move the camera or the cell phone with which you film too much, because it moves a lot and it is a bit annoying to be able to see what you are doing with so much camera movement...
IF you're going to do a video - Don't you think you should be ready ? Why do you use the same color wire (White) and "Tell" people when you could use different color wire so they can "see" the difference - Why didn't you pre-crimp the wires - You're not making a "Wire Crimping" video - It wouldn't hurt to have everything in order and run the wires straight - So people can "Visually" see what you are doing... Why didn't you save time - Do a better job and tell people to "Read the diagram"... You are figuring it out as you go !
Damn I HATE people bastardizing the term "fuel celL" to mean something entirely differnt! IF it is gasoline involved? THAT is NOT a "fuel cell" Wikipedia~~> A fuel cell is an electrochemical cell that converts the chemical energy of a fuel (often hydrogen) and an oxidizing agent (often oxygen[1]) into electricity through a pair of redox reactions.[2] Fuel cells are different from most batteries in requiring a continuous source of fuel and oxygen (usually from air) to sustain the chemical reaction, whereas in a battery the chemical energy usually comes from metals and their ions or oxides[3] that are commonly already present in the battery, except in flow batteries. Fuel cells can produce electricity continuously for as long as fuel and oxygen are supplied.
Absolutely the best fuel gauge wiring video on youtube. I'm very serious. Saved to my favorites
You are insane - It's BS thing that don't show as much as the factory diagram. You should be on "Match Makers" apparently you need a friend.
Please tell me you put that insulator back on
Clearly for demonstration purposes 🤦♂️

This video saved me a bunch of research! Thanks man
you need to leave the cardboard insulator on it so the wires dont short out from the steel case of the gauge
Ahh thanks for that info!
I noticed that also.
Thanks for posting this process. Working on a 32yr old bass boat and it needs rewired.
Thanks very helpful I have the same fuel cell do you ever have issues with the cap not coming off to fill the tank?
Can you conect a fuel cell level sender to the factory gauge

What color on the fuel cell is the ground? Positive?
I’m wondering that my self. Because on mine and the one on the video there’s a yellow wire and a green wire and I don’t what is what.
My cell has green/yellow so which does what?
Yall ever figure it out bc I just got one and I'm In the same boat
@@james8682 green is ground
Yellow is for signal
What about adding fuse to the wire connecting to the batt?
Does this work for every car too or just some of them
I connected it like you said, It either shoot to full or pull back beneath empty. What am I doing wrong?
So the yellow wire from tank is ground and green wire is positive? Is that correct
Meter gauge with any floating sensor is fit i want customised both new different online parts is possible
Would this theoretically work in a motorcycle gas tank? If set up properly

Oooo nice 😍
I got a tear drop 35 gallon fuel cell with no installed sending unit 😪 so i guess i gotta drill a hole and install one myself 🙄
Is it possible to wire up a gage like that to a motorbike?
I though sparks were gone came out of the gauge when you connected to the battery because you didnt put the little insulator carboard, hopefully u realised and put them on. Good video
i know I am kind of randomly asking but do anyone know of a good site to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Frederick Shawn i would suggest flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Myles Darwin definitely, I have been using Flixzone for since march myself =)
@Myles Darwin definitely, I've been using flixzone for years myself :D
@Myles Darwin thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it !!
CAN THIS BE DONE IN A 05 SUBURBAN?
Been having an issue since I installed mine. It reads full. Not sure what I did wrong
What gauge are those cables?
Shouldnt the single wire be pink ,battery red and ground white
How do you connected that fuel sender tho is that like a adapter or something
like how i connect it to the the dash? It came with a bracket to mount it
my manual calls for 3ohms full/80ohms empty the replacement unit I received reads 6.5omhs full/82.5 empty will that cause an issue ?
Enjoyed the video , very helpful, thank you 🙂✌
Where's the safety foam??
it is applicable in motorcycle?
well done - thank you
thank you so much. your video was the thing iam looking for.
Thanks.
Thanks for the how to Brother.

Message me on IG @96_rana
Your using a volt meter right? All fuel pumps will have a switched/constant 12 volts going to it
Were you able to hook it up to the factory gauge?
@@ramonrivas6013 yes but it reads backwards. F is empty and e is full.
How did you get it hooked up?@@19702260

could this work to replace a digital fuel gauge? mine broke lol
Where can I buy one?

Read your title again
I love when videos get straight to it... this wasnt it
The fact that you removed the cardboard insulator leaves me to believe you really don’t understand how electricity works

I hope to god you found a tissue. Pet hate someone sniffling all the time. Ffs. Video unwatchable.
