Edwin you can only speak for your experience and I’m glad you think that way. But she’s telling you her experience as an Afro Salvadoran woman which is something you’ll never be, which more strongly proves her points because it’s her true experience. I’m sure most people treat her like everyone one else but that’s doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been the outlier that has made her feel less because of how she looks.
Interesting - I’m from El Salvador and we didn’t grow up seeing racism- in El Salvador the problem is not on the color of the skin but if you’re poor or rich. I hope social media it’s not helping with this because than we will end up like the US seeing racism on EVERYTHING!
Exactly, racism is an American thing. In El Salvador has to do with your social status. The poorer you are, the more people will look down on you. Skin color doesn't count.

Afro-Salvadorans were assimilated into the current ethnic makeup well over 100 years ago. The very few Afro-Salvadorans currently in existence are most likely first or second generation born in ES of Afro immigrants into ES from Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua mainly, few from Costa Rica and Panama. Back in colonial times, African slaves were forbidden in ES, this is the main reason why you don’t see many descendants. The few slaves or freed slaves that were able to settle in ES disappeared or were assimilated with time.
El Salvador ethnically, 0.16% are black, 86.3% of Salvadorans are mixed (mixed Native Salvadoran and European (mostly Spanish) origin). Another 12.7% is of pure European descent, 1% are of pure indigenous descent, and others are 0.64%.
I’m from El Salvador and all I can say that people treat everyone equal. There’s no racial discrimination in El Salvador it’s more of a social economic status that folks look upon. Many Afro Salvadorans have migrated from , Honduras and Nicaragua.

Afro Salvadorans are hard to find because they were prevented from entering the country as slaves.I did not know there were Afro Salvadorans. We ,Salvadorans are not prone to classify people by race.We learn to classify people by race after living in the USS
Thats not quite accurate. They were definitely brought to the country as slaves for many many years. It wasnt until a law that prevented entrance to anyone coming in of Afro, Arab, indigenous descendance because we had to lighten the population so only migration from spain was allowed. This isnt history taught in american schools though. Its taught in El salvador itself. Its why why we also have a huuuuge palestinian population as well.
It is so sad that it takes a black dude from another country to enlighten people about the black history in El Salvador. I wish there were more historians dedicated to this topic in El Salvador
Actually there are historians/other folks who have studied researched, discussed and thought other about then African heritage (culture, influence and ancestry) of El Salvador. Some are Salvadoran and I appreciate their knowledge and input on the subject.
Yeah, exporting racism and American problems to a country that hasn't had that kind of problems. This beautiful and smart black girl was already been a beauty queen, what is needed is EDUCATION not felling pity about our skin color like blacks in USA. That girl attitude reminds me of a beautiful, unforgotten Salvadoran friend that is always in my best memories.
Most of the cases blacks are made invisible in central and South American countries. Even in Brazil soap operas on TV white actors portray black slaves as part of their invisibility. Also you don’t hear a lot about Belice, both Guyanas, and Surinam. You could imagine that the second President in Mexico Guerrero was an Afro descent person who abolished slavery before Lincoln but never mentioned. Just to give you an idea check the music of some countries that are from Afro descent people Candombe from Uruguay, Bomba Ecuatoriana, Bomba Puertorriqueña, Palo and Merengue, and Punta (from the Garifuna people) are examples of invisibility.

Let's make one thing clear, this young lady and her family immigrated into El Salvador back in 50's, she's a descendant of Honduran and they entered thru Sonsonate because it borders Honduras, my family tree history goes back over 200 years and one of my aunts who is 90 years old confirmed this to me, I remember when I was a kid I saw a black person who had came from Honduras and I remember clearly scratching his arm to see if he was wearing black paint and was trying to remove it because I had never seen a person of color but I'm so happy to hear that everyone is welcome to my beloved country I only wish the U.S would use the same mentality. God bless...Peace!
Oh, WoW, I never knew that. By looking at a map, Sonsonate does not border Honduras at all 🤔 I appreciate you sharing your point of view but the map is not adding up. Do you know Levy's family personally to speak on their family history?

Uh okaayyyy.. let me make something clear..as a Salvadorian, let me attest to the fact that I have seen other Salvadorians that distinctively have afro features, the ones that are considered "Afro-Mestizo" BUT it's not to the point that they have their own community in El Salvador or they're separated from the general population.. and after being to El Salvador a couple of times, I have never seen straight-up Afro-Salvadorians there
Here we dont have separated communities. Im from arcatao, and we had people of all skin colors, nobody thought about racism. They either call you chele or negro, y para joder indio. There are no separated communities here like the U.S loves to do.
I was born in El Salvador 🇸🇻 and the only racism I saw was between the Rich and the Poor but never about skin color as we have all shade of skin colors. I’ve also never saw a community of afro-Salvadoran like they have in Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica etc…. It would of been nice to know the history of her family . Every human being should be treated with Love and Respect!
She's beautiful and surprised to see Africa represented in El Salvador! I'm of Honduran decent with Africa in my blood and I remember a story which sounded like a legend: The story goes that when the Honduran soccer teams came to play in El Salvador, the Salvadorans would run in horror cause they never saw a live Black person in the flesh! The story may be true in the sense that there may be some sort of resentment toward African descendents. I salute this community and send you much love from your brothers in Honduras and from around the world! Thanks for making this informative story and opening our eyes to the reality of the world! Amen!😅
I grew up in El Salvador, and there always kids who are bullies just like any other country, and i can understand the pain this caused to this beautiful young lady. El salvador has only one type of discrimination, the rich vs the poor . When I moved to the US, I served in the US Marine and thats when i learned and experiened racism and descrimination, i was called every single racist name and punished by just been the only latino in my platoon, I was always assigned to hard labor for no reason to be punished with AWOL and soldiers who have disorderly conduct . , I was hit and humiliated in front of my peers and others and my superiors never punished the soldiers involved, in fact i was asked if i want to leave the Marines or continue my service in the Navy or leave with Honoroble discharge to protect the white racist soldier. So I left and became a network engineer
The TH-camr guy sounds like a race hustler… his first question was: ask her how she is treated? We are not cry babies like the black Americans. The only problem in general is discrimination and its doesn’t matter the color of your skin. The truth why we don't have Afro-Salvadoran community in El Salvador like in the neighbor countries, is because one of ours country father whose name was José Simeón Cañas, abolished slavery on March 11th, 1824 , I believe El Salvador was the first country to do it so in the world , 65 year's before France and USA. Did after the assassination of Malkon X , and the murder of Martin Luther King
The problem with videos like this is that you're presenting a false narrative that there are populations of Salvadorans that are predominately African. This girl is of course black, but it's because her father is Black Guyanese! She is of recent immigrant descent. Putting "forgotten people" in the title makes it seem like there are communities of Africans living in El Salvador that have been hidden away from the spotlight and that's just not the case. I've come across "Afro-Salvadoran" organizations that are made up mostly of insane liberals from the USA that get some cornrows and pretend to be black. It's no different from white people claiming to be 1/16th cherokee. It's insanity and should honestly be offensive to real Afro-Latinos that are visibly and undoubtedly black.

I am from El Salvador, and in truth, people that are black skin or Africans, are not originally from El Salvador. There was African slavery in El Salvador centuries ago, but slavery was banned in 1825. After that, Afro-descendants eventually began to mix with the general population, transitioning from a purely African population to the mulatto and zambo populations. So now, in El Salvador, you don’t see pure Africans, and if there are, maybe they are born in El Salvador but from descendants of other countries, like for example, this woman from this video; of parents who immigrated to El Salvador, most likely from Honduras, Nicaragua, or neighbouring countries who DO have afro descendants.

I've been seeing a TH-camr who had lower views grow a lot in a short time by doing this. Keep uploading consistently but think quality over content.

Racism exists in America, in Canada, in Europe, in Asia it’s everywhere not just an American thing.
Right! It's a matter of money, not race or skin color.

" Disappeared " ..... 🤔.... Interesting.....

There is not Afro salvadorian . They are Salvadoran. We don’t see any different .

I lived inEl Salvador in the 60s the only black person I ever saw was a guy from Panama . Now I see more because mostly migration from Honduras and other Countries with large Black population I think the main reason we don't have many is because we don't have Atlantic Ocean and that's were they came from
Thank you for making this document, very beautiful lady.

Philly Dom with you talking about the low views thing one thing you could do is try to make your titles more click baity with more intresting and exciting thumbnails to catch your target markets attention more. I've been seeing a TH-camr who had lower views grow a lot in a short time by doing this. Keep uploading consistently but think quality over content. Maybe make your vids a little shorter and end them with a cliff hanger so the audience will anticipate the next one as they will want to see what happens next. You might also want to try making some of your titles Spanish or use some Spanish words in them.
Appreciate the Feedback I will but it in the next video 📸
Thanks again Blake
She is Beautiful !
Her spanish accent is soo Salvadoran. How cute.
She is gorgeous my tia (my uncle wife) is Afro Salvadoran and our Family love her and my Grandmother protect her from any discrimination back in the 50s.
awww i love that :)
En los 1991 yo no vi Salvadoreños de color. Solo vi indígenas de color moreno . Pero me gustaría haber conocidos morenos . Creo que un presidente no dejó entrar morenos . Please don’t call Afro Salvadorian. She is Salvadoran . We don’t segregate people. Peace
...PD, I'm going next month, and I'm excited! Share your driver connects, please.
AS SALVADOREÑO FIRST TIME I SEE AN AFRO SALVADOREÑA AND I LIKE IT, IS GOOD TO HAVE DIFFERENT CULTURES.

It's great and a blessing brother to see you traveling the world in search of our people, educating us of our people in different corners of the world bringing them too the forefront that we may have better understanding of each other and connect with each other around the world. ✌🏿✊🏿
African People throughout the World Movement Family 🙏
she is salvadoreña we see no color ..latinos united ..puerto ricans , cubans , black latinos are my brothers just like You are . Peace
I really don't understand why she felt discriminated because I never saw that Salvadorean people were Racist. My best friend in College was very dark and nobody discriminated her, we were and we are all equal. It really hurt me to hear thinks like this. Gos Bless You
Everybody has different experiences.. Any form of discrimination about anything can happen to anyone. None of us are exempt from experiencing racism of any degree or level but some people sadly get it more than others make than others.😕
Thanks For the Share
Africa thanks for the support and share family
Great content!
Please don’t start with the whole racism thing like in the US Latinos have black brown white even yellow but all Latinos all we care about is partying but this lady sounds like probably has little kid bullying and self frustration since she felt like an outcast as not to many blacks in El Salvador like neighboring countries
I like the way she Starts by saying,,vaya,,it's very tipical salvadorean culture....love it.
Ajá, I noticed and loved that too!! 😊🥰
This is a west African, looking at her, i'm seeing my self in her. really west African....
Great video💯✅
Im from El Salvador and in my country every body is welcome we do not discrimite nobody
El Salvador 🇸🇻 to the World 🌎 Family
Very interesting interview, something new
Thanks
I'm so happy to know that we have Afro-Salvadorans I'm from ES but left as a child and now live abroad, you are a beautiful lady and I hope that as the country evolves we become more open and realise that we are all one.
El Salvador ethnically, 0.16% are black, 86.3% of Salvadorans are mixed (mixed Native Salvadoran and European (mostly Spanish) origin). Another 12.7% is of pure European descent, 1% are of pure indigenous descent, and others are 0.64%.
Thanks Philly for sharing our afro heritage. So beautiful.
Not true... Any that is from the Caribbean or Panama know this... Also anyone that has studied black history Caribbean know about black Mexicans. Costa ricans Peru all of central and south america have rich post slavery imprint.... I am Panamanian and speak spanish and I am black... yes I actually exist
Great info so El Salvador knows they had Slaves that's what your saying Family?
Ummmm I leaved in San Vicente and I never seen people treat black peoples any different !! She’s not telling you the truth!!
You believe that Rose
Yes, I do !
Bro your content is 💯 real, your spreading knowledge that is hidden in this small world. People of color feel her experience, women of color have lived her feelings. Watched this twice as most of us do with a 👍🏽
I appreciate that!

I love this video man! anybody doubting Afro Salvadoran, please look up Nayib Bukele brother (Yamil Bukele) he is el Negrito of the Bukele brothers, his Mom is from la Union mostly likely where that comes from, also Armando Bukele (Nayib father) was talking about our Afro Salvadoran roots way back ago on his own show Aclarando Conceptos. There is a photo of him with his grand children (Yamil Bukeles kids) You will be surprise how Afro looking they are.
Thanks for the Information
