But, thanks to Afric-Network for explaining afro communnity in El Salvador, I am proud to be Salvadoran, and I hope Afro Salvadorans should be proud to be Afro Salvadorans and they shouldn't be forgotton or not being descriminated. Thanks! 🇸🇻

Salvadoran here with 15% African ancestry. My mother's ancestors actually lived in Tecapa (the colonial map you showed) as far back as the 1780s. It was later renamed Alegria after the local priest. Tecapan is a different town where many people from Tecapa moved to in the mid to late 1800s. If you go far back, you can see documents with people being described as mulattos, indios, or espanoles. I've also seen a census with a man living with an enslaved woman. Occasionally I will see an African American match on a DNA site. Recently, I finally had a match from Nigeria. Thanks for the video.

This is amazing to me. I am black and married a Salvadoran. I spent a lot of time in the country in the early 2000s and never saw anyone black but I never had any issues with racism either.
My husband was half Pipil and half Spaniard.
It was my understanding that black people were not allowed to emigrate until the 1980s.
The family knows they have African blood from way back though and are proud of it.
I purchased land there myself and will build a home for my retirement. I love El Salvador❤️❤️❤️

I just subscribed to your channel, Great video , outstanding information , thank you for letting Salvadorans and the whole world know about our Afro Salvadoran heritage, I’m Salvadoran and I’m so proud to carry Afro Mestizo blood in my veins , base on my DNA I’m 60 % indigenous native , 28 % European , and 12% African . My parents , 4 grandparents 4 great grandparents were Salvadorans . For over 200 years the Salvadoran governments had always make us believe we Salvadorans were the mixture of Indigenous and European, they’ll have denied the history, the culture music, gastronomic and contribution made by Africans in El Salvador…. But if we never had Africans in El Salvador: why many of us look Afro ? Why do we like to dance Caribbean rhythms, ( Cumbia , merengue , salsa , and reggae, punta and socca music , rice and beans , fried cassava ( yuca ) fried plantains, Mondongo soup , some from Afro heritage ?? And why Salvadorans played the Marimba an African instrument ?? I will always ask my self , why ?? .. But I already know why ? Because of my DNA and family pictures. God bless you my brother, thanks 🙏🏾 ….🇸🇻🙏🏾❤️🌍🌎

My dads Salvadoran and my moms Mexican but I took my Dads looks. I always felt like me and my dads side had a unique look to us compared to other Latinos. One day I learned my Great Granny was black as the night with some big lips. Then I learned how close we are to the carribean sea and the slave trade in central America. Something about the whole thing made me feel closer to Africa and the African descendants in central America. We all share a struggle no matter the color I love u all I wish we could open our eyes but one day maybe not in our lifetime ✌🏽
