When he said body amour for protection he is spot on. I didn't start weight training until 2013 when I was 42 at the time over weight at 324 lbs... Now 2023 this year marks my 10 year anniversary mile stone of weight training. I use to have issues with my back. Now looking back I am so glad I started building more muscle over the years and have not had the back issue since. I hope I'm that 65 year old guy in the gym still at it. It's never too late to start.

I am a 62 year old female body builder, I have to work so hard to put muscle on, I am absolutely in love with the journey, what it has done for me, and how I look and feel! I could go on and on about benefits ESPECIALLY at this age! And let's talk about how proportions change when you sculpt and build muscle, then there is the butt, not only have I grown my glutes but it:s not sagging anymore. I deadlift 150 pounds and can I can"t wait to reach 200 one day!!!

I now do the Mike Mentzer ‘ high intensity training’ - going really heavy . Usually you need a spotter, but since I train at home now I use single a dumbbell , whereas I would grind out 15 reps+ with a 10kg bell ( bench press ) I struggle to get 5 reps- by giving myself a 20+ second negative, but very impressed with results . I also do isometrics every morning .
The days of spending over 2 hours in the gym are over .

How did you do it? I am 63 and I need to recover muscle for health’s sake and my energy and mental acuity etc. Where is a link to this program?

@@carolr.556start slowly, (I recently had a shoulder injury, lifting too heavy). Have you heard of TrainwithJoan? She has a good app (she's 75). Or get a good trainer to give you a program. Recovery time and mobility exercises are so important as you age.

My training partner was pro golpher Bill Malley in 1980
I bet he knows him. Bill was a long drive champion in Hayward Ca. Missed the US tour by one shot and was on the Euro tour.

    I’m 63. I don’t put on any muscle
And as we age the molecular signals including insulin and protein are a lot slower and don’t work as well any longer. My genetics is just like that. I keep working on my character which is the real body and mind armor I need

I love all the info except the diet info especially for older folks who need more protein. Not plant protein it's not efficient doesn't have the needed amino acids. Eat meat!! It's all there everything needed for building muscle. Buy from local ranchers if you are worried about clean sources.

@@theswitchnutritionlabthey might provide it, but humans don’t absorb it as efficiently as with meat. Also, agriculture is very hard on the planet and our resources. And kills so many more animals as compared to raising meat for food. The research is all out there, just gotta drop the biases, have an open mind, and be willing to learn. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Focus on what is being offered here… even if you would prefer the delivery to be different. We all have our preferences as well as aspects that ruffle our feathers (and I , for one, am working hard on not allowing my feathers to get ruffled easily… as it does me nor others around me any good , not to mention how focusing on others perceived flaws wastes a LOT of my time and energy I could put to much better use!).
Try it… you might like the results/rewards!
