How did you like the video format? Im trying something different and need your feedback
I like it.
Thatâs greatðð
Nice ððĨð
Thank you much
I like this format for general discussion videos like this one. It worked well with the topic. I still like your 'old' format for the actual shaving videos though.
Great format. I broke free of the Gillette Psyop a couple months ago. Now I find myself frequently feeling my beard, disappointed to find a smooth face, but excited to feel stubble because I know it's time to shave again. This is crazy.
Thanks so much for the compliment with the format! I am always looking for constructive feedback to improve content moving forward. Shaving in this way is therapeutic! I am happy to hear you are finding yourself excited to shave. Feel free to drop a comment with anything you would like to see in future episodes
'You have to have a dexterity of a cave troll to not being able to use the safety razor'
I remember someone had typed it on the internet and I think it's the most truthful statement about safety razors. I struggle to get cut by them, they are literally so easy to use.
Years ago when I was in the military, the old-timers would keep telling me to use a safety razor....but being young, I never would do it. I wished I would've listened back then....years of skin irritations could have saved myself.
Thanks for sharing
The only reason why I used Gillette mach 3 was because the military put a ban on having DE blades so no safety razors from boot camp forward. My dad who served in the Marines told me the ban was taking place in the 70âs when he got out. Because some service members were using them as weapons and suicide. Now I have his Gillette Fatboy from when he entered Boot camp in 1950. But I use my T2 the most.
I'm 26 and my dad always told me to avoid safety razors because he always cut himself when he was younger.
SUPER happy i came across this channel. I've been shaving with a Rockwell 6C for 3 months now on a 4 plate with Astra blades.
Great razor.
Dang. Wish I would have made the switch in my 20s! How long did it take you to get a clean (not perfect or even bbs) shave without nicks or cuts with the Rockwell? Does it 'feel' like there's a fine line between shaving and nicking/cutting or is it pretty forgiving? I've been using a cheap Weishi butterfly razor for about 6 weeks, and it's within the last week that I've reached the point where I'm not nicking my skin, but it still feels dodgy. I have to be very careful. Got a couple bbs shaves within this time and they both felt like triumphs, but I'm really looking forward to getting the Rockwell 6c and Henson Al13 razors to see where those take me.
I get a BBS every single time with the Rockwell and it's very rare that i nick my self let alone cut myself. I found i got a lot of nicks with the King C Gillette but that was my introduction to DE Safety razors. I do one pass with the grain and 2 against with a nice thick lather, really liking Arko shaving cream soap.I have quite sensitive skin and i find the 4 plate with Astra blades on the Rockwell to be VERY nice. No pressure required.@@Junior_Meat
@@Junior_MeatHey, definitely upgrade your razor. The 6C would be a good choice. I started with an inexpensive TTO and found it to be very blade sensitive. Better than cartridges but still off and on. I finally upgraded to a couple SS machined razors and WOW, it was like day and night. My Razorock Mamba 70 is my favorite razor and pairs with 75% of my blades.
Enjoy the journey
I bought a 6s and can use it with any of my blades (Feather, BIC, Treet Carbon) just by swapping the plates. I don't swap plates during a shave, I pretty much only use them to fine tune to various blades. I use a Fatip Piccolo open comb for taking down a few days growth and the 6s for everything else. My other razors have more or less been retired now.
I bought the hype for years about Cartridge razors. My neck and face were constantly.
Irritated irritated and had a lot of ingrown hairs all the time. But when I made the switch to safety razors, it took me a little time to get the right combination. But oh, the health of my skin is so much better and so much smoother and so much more comfortable. I would recommend that everyone shave with the safety razor, you just have to be patient at first until you Learn how to use it and what combination is best for you.
ðŊ
I liked the new format. Didnât realize how expensive shaving could be until I got addicted to all the gear and soaps but itâs much more enjoyable now
ðŊ
Mark I agree 100%. When the FedEx guy shows up at my house my wife asks what shaving stuff did you order this time.
@@Sharpeshaver76 I have the same problem

I'm loving the variety of content you've been putting out. From shaves to longer live streams and now this format too.
Glad to hear it!
Made the switch a couple years back but found this channel among a couple others and now its become an obsession. Even though I switched to a safety razor I was still using like cheap gels and Barbasol which still sucked. Got my shipment of brush, lather bowl, blades, aftershave, and TOBS shave cream and now I canât wait to shave again.
Thatâs fantastic
My brother and I have both been using a no brand safety razor (maybe van der Hagen?) for the past 3 years. About 4 months ago, I upgraded to a razo rock lupo 95 and oh my goodness the difference is massive. The lupo just glides over my face so so smoothly, and never catches on anything unlike the previous razor. I saw your last video a couple days ago, and heard about that deal with Rockwell, and I just jumped on the whole 6s shaving kit to give my brother for Christmas. Iâm sure I will be pretty jealous once i try the 6s, but I just couldnât justify buying one for myself because the lupo does do such a good job for myself. But I am extremely excited for it to come in, and just had to say that the kit from Rockwell comes with absolutely everything you could need for wet shaving and with his discount code, I got everything shipped to my door for $119! Great deal!
Amazing! Happy to hear you are having a great transition on your Shave Journey. Excited to hear about your experience with the Rockwell. Feel free to drop a comment for any specific requests for future content

I can tell you that coming from a non-Western background (though I've been in NA for 29 years), the safety razor nervousness or fear has to do with bad techniques passed from one generation to another. There's also blade sharpness, or lack thereof. My grandfather shaved with a safety razor and he had his technique right. Even the prep; used a boar hair brush dripped in hot water out of a kettle to wet his face for example. My dad always used disposables and when I started shaving, I couldn't understand how my grandfather shaved everyday without irriting his skin.
Mind you, I still irrirate my skin trying to get another shave from a blade that needs swapping, but still much better than any cartridge.
Funny enough another bad rap with old tech is a manual transmission. Most old drivers don't even know there's such a thing as rev matching.
Right On
I had to rev match/double de-clutch in the tank I used to drive. Get it wrong going down hill and you were in for an unexpected high speed adventure racing down the hill in neutral. However there is absolutely no need to do that with a fully synchronised manual gearbox. I can't even remember when non-sync gearboxes were still a thing in cars.
As always enjoying there videos. Signup for your channel a while back. Thatâs cool you send out to give away stuff to people that watch your channel. Keep up sending these great videos out !
Awesome thank you!
So glad I found your channel. Been a subscriber just shy of a year. 30+ years of hating to shave and always using a piece of junk mass produced razor. Started using a Henson as my first safety razor, taking your advice with all the skincare products. Shave oil, witch hazel aftershave (Thayerâs) and Nivea shave balm! I actually look forward to shaving now that I have a routine with products that donât turn my skin into a racing drag strip. Iâm now a proud owner of a Leaf Twig that does excellent precision shaving around my winter beard and I use a Rockwell 6C that Iâll return to once beard weather is over. Talked my wife into using my Henson on her legs and she loves it. She doesnât know it yet but I bought her a Leaf triple blade for Christmas. My sonâs have expressed interest after months of trying to convince them to try it. Iâm giving them Leaf Twigs for Christmas.
Great read. Thanks for your support my friend! Please consider becoming a member for exclusive membership perks and exclusive content!
So you don't like the Rockwell?
I love Rockwell Razors
I ditched my club razors. My wife thought I was insane buying a Rockwell T2 and a brush with soap. When she asked if she could use it on her legs she told me to buy myself a new one. Shaving with a safety razor is the best.
ðĪĢ. Good Stuffð
Everything you said is spot on and exactly what I've been thinking. I've been doing this for two weeks now. I'm 55 and have been shaving with disposables since I was 16. Wish I would have known about DE safety razors a long time ago. It was always a chore and now I'm enjoying it. I'm looking forward to it and yes, it is therapeutic. Just got my Henson today and man....what a shave. I have the Leaf and an adjustable Van Der Hagen. Love the blade choices and being able to dial it in.
Great review thanks for sharing
my shaving has gone from something i dreaded. to an experience i enjoy i'm even relaxed after i finish.
well i switced as i am boycotting gillette and never found any other cartridge i like so i thought there must be better DE razors and there were back in 1985, this is also why i will not get a razor with the tabs that stick out. so i started searching youtube videos to see if people have posted anything about safety razors, this was almost a year ago. when i came across your videos, you had many head to head shaves half your face for each, this gave me the best comparrison to go with. the last thing that sold me was the ingrown hairs, i always thought was just adult acne. so my very first shave i had was with an asta blade (didn't know they were gillete) and wilkison metal razor with paraso sensitive soap, thayers and nivea post shave balm and was really impressed. Couldn't wait anymore for my Henson AL13 to get here. By the time my AL13 got here i had no razor burn left and people were noticing the difference. i've converted 4 so far due to this.
ð
I'm a big fan of your channel, thanks for spreading the news about wet shaving. I used Harry's before finally switching to DE. My face would always be red and raw after a shave. I only shaved every 3-4 days. DE shaving was a life changer! Thanks for always producing great content @ohioshaves!!
Regards, Lindsay ð
Thanks for sharing!
Great video and advice. I bought the multi-blade hype all my life until I made the jump into DE last January, at 67 years old. Every word you say is true! I can't believe the superiority of DE shaving. The closeness, and especially the comfort, are a revelation. Like many have said on many shaving channels, shaving is now enjoyable and something I look foward to rather than avoid.
Well said!
This video is so well done! I left the cartridge world long ago and moved to a safety razor. What a difference! Not only was the improvement instant, now after several years of experience my shaves are even better. Practice and experience as well as enjoyment have been and continue to be better all the time. Ohio Shaves, your videos are welcome. It is amazing how what had been a task is now something to look forward to.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your support
Thank you for your videos I have seen the light. Got tired of the expensive blades and supporting harry's. A friend gave me a Hesten A13 to test drive and wow. Watched a few of your videos for proper methods and I did not die. What a great experience, liked it so much I bought a Rockwell 6S. A week later now just ordered a 6C kit with your discount code and black friday deal. You were right, with the proper cream/soap followed by some nivea cream, my face feels amazing. Thank you again.
That is a great review. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your support.
You're spot on. I gave up on store bought disposables like 8 years ago and switched to DSC and it was a real money saver. Then I took a chance on safety razor from the drug store bought a 100 pack. Shaving is now enjoyable, I love trying new blades to see how they work with my razors and my face. Want another money saver? Shhhh... Replace your preshave and use noxzema. Massive tub for 5.99. Works just as well, try it.
Nice Tip
Started early this year with a Henson mild and it was a game changer. As others have said, it went from a daily chore to one of the best parts of my day. It has become a bit of an obsession. My collection of razors has grown to 10 razors (plus 11 that I have purchased for friends and family) 7 brushes, and over 40 soaps. No signs of slowing down ð
That's great chris. Thanks for sharing
Amin! Me too ! ð
Yeah, the purchases of razors... is damn deep rabbit hole. I've 14 razors at home. ðð
Dave, another great one. Speaking truth brother! My shave time is now a very pleasant experience that I look forward to. Itâs to the point that I would do it every day! Use the Rockwell on my face and the Leaf on my dome. Got several soaps that both I and the wife âĪ the scents of. Will never go back.
Great use of video effects and transitions in this clip. Your editing skills are getting better with each production. Keep âem coming ! BTW- love the skull cap. Have a super turkey day!!!!

Been watching you for awhile and then I subscribed. I was a customer of Dollar Shave club. They changed up their blades and it no longer worked for me. So I made the move and will not go back. Your videos helped with that decision. Purchased a Henson medium aggression. Soon after I followed that up with a Rockwell T2. Love the lightness of the Henson and how it's almost impossible to cut yourself. Great starter razor. Then there is the Rockwell. The weight means it cuts with no pressure from me. And being able to dial in the aggression give me a great custom shave. And you are right, shaving is no longer a chore. It is a pleasurable experience. Still trying different blades (in both razors), so far Astra seems to work best for me. And then there are all the different shave soaps. I fill my shave soap bowl with hot water and let my badger hair brush soak in it while I shower. Always get some great lather. Follow up with the alum block and yes I do like to finish with the Thayer's. So keep those shave videos coming. Love for you to do more blade comparisons and shave soap reviews.
I did not know that the dollar shave club changed their blades. You're the first one to recognize it. Do you think that buying the Henson first helped you hone in on your technique which made you a better shaver when you got your Rockwell T2? More blade and sub comparisons coming. Thanks for your support
@@OhioShaves Yes I would say the Henson allowed me to learn the proper angle for the blade to cut. So I was pretty confident with the Rockwell. Both are fantastic shavers.
Rockwell 6c, Merkur 34c, Muhle 89 and Leaf provide the best shave for all levels of experience!
And I wouldn't wait If you can get a Rockwell 6c for less than forty dollars.
Dave keeps telling everyone about Thayers, he's not lying!!!
People are making the switch and I just enjoy sharing my thoughts on very good products with no fluff in the middle. Thanks for all your support.
Recently got my Merkur 34C in. Infinitely better than any cartridge razor I've ever used. Best shave of my life so far. There is no way I can ever go back to a cartridge razor after this, I get too good of a shave. Hardly get any nicks and my face isn't angry after I shave.
Only after 2 shaves can say this has changed my life. I had no idea something better had already existed for 100 years +
Still waiting on my Henson AL13 as it may have gotten lost in the mail
Thanks for sharing. I'm so happy for you and
Great video. I am 72 and just started using a safety razor almost 2 years ago. I use to use a Norelco since I started shaving as a teen. I was afraid of cutting myself with a safety razor. The first time I used a razor with a blade was when I was in the Air Force at basic training as we were discouraged from using an electric. I donât remember what I used but, I went back to electric after basic training. I was afraid of cutting myself with a safety razor. Eventually The newer the Norelco razor models got worse in performance. I then tried cartridge razors and got a closer shave but lots of irritation. I then tried a safety razor and found out how easy it was to use. After trying several razors, I settled with the Rockwell 6s as my everyday razor. I start with the 4 plate for the first pass then the 3 plate and finish with the 2 plate. This gives me a great fantastic, comfortable, irritation free shave with no cuts or weepers. Als the variety of artisan soaps and aftershaves is fantastic. My favorites are from PAA. Have a great Thanksgiving and keep the videos coming.ðĶðĶðĶ
Thank you much for sharing
@@OhioShaves You are never too old to start wet shaving.
My biggest problem with wet shaving is Iâm a bit of a scent junkie. Hardware, I havenât bought anything for a while. But, anytime I see a new soap scent, I gotta have it.
I can understand that
Im with you. Haven't bought anything new in a year but i went crazy over soaps. Counting samples over 200.
I got into wet shaving just because some tech TH-camr got sponsored by Henson Shaving to present their razor. I thought the arguments made sense so I ordered a Henson razor. I loved the whole experience, it became almost an obsession lol ð . Now I also have the Merkur 34c, the Rockwell 6c, and a Razorock Lupo,as well as different soaps and thingsâĶ I love it! Shaving is something I look forward to now!

Dave, Kudos, your videos are getting more awesome all the time, Keep up the good work spreading the word
Thanks my friend. Long edit. Turkey just went in the oven.
Great video and so, so true...
Awesome format.
Glad you enjoyed it! Your channel is growing very nicely
@OhioShaves ððūðððūððâðū
We have been brainwashed! How good it is to step out of fear of slashing my jugular. If you watch Dave's videos and haven't made the switch yet, just do it. No one regrets it. I say go agressive right off the bat if what you seek is a super close shave. Technique will quickly improve, because of deeper attention and focus. The deal on Rockwell is appealing.

Thank you for your videos. I have switched to the Rockwell T2 and really look forward to shaving now! It is not perfect yet (still getting used to the safety razor, but I really love the cost savings, and the way my skin feels after the shave. Thanks for all you videos to give people like me the confidence to try a new way of shaving! Have a great day!
You are so welcome! Glad I could help and thanks for all your support
Great format! I did the math I belonged to a shave club. My initial investment was around 170 bucks for a safety razor blades and soap. my shave club annual cost was 18 dollars a month. So it cost me 220 dollars per year. Now 100 blades lasts me a whole year and a tub of shaving soap lasts about year too. So now I pay about 30 dollars a year to have a BBS shave. And the closest thing to a straight razor shave.
Nice. Thanks for sharing
Dave, I remember when I made the switch. I watched your video when you reviewed the manscape plow 2.0 that night I ordered it. Since then I have pretty much switched my whole family over to safety razors. I was a hydro 5 man. Thanks for showing us the way.
Right On Brother
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. @@OhioShaves
Happy Thanksgiving
I was thinking back and forth about getting a Rockwell razor but, I ended up getting my wife a Leaf razor plus got me a few new soaps and some new blades. I'm very happy with my Henson titanium mild. I've been getting the best BBS shaves no need in getting more razors. But I do love seeing all the razors videos you make, man, keep it up.
Great razors. Thanks for your support
Everything you said is true. I wasnât a big shaver in my teenage years. But now that I started this safety razor journey last month I have to say it was the best decision instead of going with cartridge. 2 days ago I dialed in a good razor and blade combo and it gave me the best bbs shave so far with little to no irritation at all and I did 3 passes. I ended up telling my wife I couldnât wait to shave again ð. Itâs definitely something that I look forward to now and enjoy doing. Keep up the good work and great video ððž
Thanks for sharing. Great shaves to come
I remarked on the first few stokes how smooth it was . I was expecting a harsh shave but it was anything but . I get the closest shaves I've ever had using my rockwell 6c
great call. me too
I switched to a safety razor recently and just finished my first shave with it and wow. That was actually the best and closest shave I have ever gotten in my life. I didnât even use an expensive one, I used goodlines double safety razor with some proraso and it was amazing. Iâm never going back.

When I switch to safety razor my skin felt so smooth and felt relaxing shaving like this !
Me too. Thanks for leaving a comment.
Switched to DE almost 3 years ago. The learning process took a few months (I'm a slow learner ð), but then shaving became just a pure pleasure for me.
Last year I made a birthday present for my friend: Muhle razor and a pack of blades, shaving cream, alum block and aftershave balm) this is how I'm trying to promote the healthy shaving among people)
Very very nice of you
Got my 60% thanks again David!
Great to hear. Thanks for your support my friend
Great video mate ,just changed to safety razor and bought Rockwell 6s.
Cheers for all the info ðŦĄðĪ
Thatâs great news. Thanks for your support
did my first shave with a full kit today, got my TOBS soap, rockwell pre shave oil, synthetic brush and alum block in the mail yesterday after a week of figuring out the henson using harry's canned shave gel. What a difference! the alum block blew my mind sealing up a little nick on my chin in seconds. About an hour after shaving i did notice a little flare up around my jaw line, so i went back in with a second post shave round: cold water and alum block, then thayers and nivea balm and i've pretty much gotten rid of it! the razor alone was already making a huge difference, but now i feel like i'm gonna be able to master the technique in no time and say buhbye to razor burn forever. Listen to Dave fellow newbies! get the full kit, don't skimp on the prep! take your time, learn your face, and you'll be getting BBS in no time! Im still figuring out what works best for my face, but i'm still getting closer and cleaner shaves then i ever did with a cartridge razor, afte ronly a week and investing in all the right products.
Nice read. Thanks for your support and stay in touch.
Its a great format to mix in for such videos.

Love the channel. I have been wet shaving for little over 10 years. I will never have a cartridge on my face again. I love the hunt for vintage razors and brushes. I recently made the switch to a safety razor because of your videos, thanks man all the way from Johannesburg South Africa
Thanks for your support
I switched to safety razor 10 years ago but n my 40th birthday. It was a muhle r106, Gillette blue and white box (donât remember the exact model), and some products from the âart of shavingâ store. I have not looked back. I switched to the astra platinums when the original razors ran out. My guilty pleasure blade is the Facon platinums that came with a $15 facon TTO. The razor didnât work out as well but I still use the blades. For my 50th birthday I got the Rockwell T2 gun metal chrome and one of their gift sets. I like my original muhle but the T2 is a definite step up. Once I made the switch from cartridge razors I definitely saved a lot of money even accounting for all the soaps, lotions and brushes Iâve tried.
Great story. I have saved a lot as well and getting a better shave.
Love the channel. I switched to the safety razor about a year ago and it was a game changer for me. I have a heavy beard and have been wildly impressed with this shave versus the multi-blade ones. Shaving now is therapeutic. Find myself feeling my face and how much smoother the skin is now. I started with a simple one and am ready to get a better one that I can dial in. Any recommendations? After buying 50+ safety razors over the years, I bought a Tatara Masamuni Nodachi. My search for the perfect safety razor is over. I have many high end razors and Iâm selling them all except for the Nodachi. Expensive, but really worth it, IMHO.
I am happy to hear to you have found the most perfect razor for you! It is all about what works you. Please feel free to drop a comment for any content you would like to see in the future
Great video - lots of truth!!! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving
I made the switch about 6 weeks ago and I've really enjoyed learning how to shave again. It's become a ritual. Taking care of me and giving myself the time to focus on this one thing in the morning has become something I look forward to and is a de-stresser.
I'm not using a premium razor (yet) but I think I've done a pretty decent job of picking up technique and consistency so far. Just have to be careful. Also have to use good blades. I'm pulling from a blade variety pack now and I've been getting really good shaves with the Gillette Silver Blue. Looking forward to pairing blades with razors once I upgrade over the holidays.
Cheers

Very nice video. I've been shaving for years with a cartridge razor. I shave every other day and manage to get about 50 shaves off the same cartridge. I shave in the shower, no mirror required. Think I'll go with the SR-71 of shavers, the Henson Ti in medium. I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
Great choice. Thanks for sharing.
Thnx for the info. I understand your point of view and it is cheaper. But only if you bought the right razors right away. I have tried the StÃķrtebekker, Wilkinson and King C Gilette with different blades, Astra, Wilkinson and King C Gilette, but I still have wounds. I use pre-shave oil, soap thoroughly and warm my skin first, but I still get wounds. The StÃķrtebekker and Wilkinson ones have a butterfly closure and I had the most wounds with them. But the King C Gilette has a closed closure and that is a lot better. But sometimes wounds. I would like to try the expensive razors like Edwin Jagger or Muhle, but it will be so expensive if this doesn't work out. I shave every 2 to 3 days and have a soft beard. So I have already outsourced a fair amount of money to this. While I don't make any wounds with Gilette labs. I buy them at a discount and pay 38 euros for 12 cartridges. I will be doing this for a year. I still shave with the Astra's and King C Gilette, I have been doing so for 2 months, but those wounds remain. I have seen many, many videos of you and the shaving but it is difficult for the viewer to choose something. You can't do anything about that because it is of course personal for each viewer. You don't know what kind of skin or beard he has. I have been shaving with cartridges for this for years and it was also fast and super smooth. And never suffered from ingrown hairs. I just wanted to say this. But please continue with the videos because I will keep trying and maybe one day I will shave without any nicks. My father has always done this and I quite like this tradition with shaving. (I am 62 years old myself) Especially soaping with the brush, which is wonderful to do. So again, this is not meant negatively, but I just wanted to say that with Gilette labs shaving, for example, I only spend 38 euros per year. ..But I still keep trying with the old way. Kind regards, Ron.

Good call on the tonic. Have not tried this specifically, but ANY witch hazel tonic then aloevera gel (not the sun burn variety) - rivals commercial aftershaves.
Right on
Thumbs up on the format. Until recently I was 100% Gillette cartridges. Fast & easy shaves but not cheap. Your videos have reinforced my thinking that I would benefit by taking a little more time shaving and treating myself to a better shave by ditching the plastic. ( And saving money ) I have a face razor on order and am going to buy a separate razor for head shaving . Thanks for your reviews and recommendations.
Glad to help out. Thanks for you support. Keep us posted
I am an 82 yr old.I started shaving at age 14 with a gillette safety razor and switched to cartrige system in my late 30's.For 40 years I put up with quick foamy pulling shaves.Red Face wasthe result for the next hr or so.I swithed back to safety razors a while ago nowand am so happy with my shaves. I left Gillette years ago, I got tired of paying $20 a month just for blades. I love the Derby Platinum, 200 blades for $15. Wished I also started with the Rockwell, now I have 3 , 6C in gunmetal, 6S and a 6S-red.

Happy Thanksgiving!! Thanks for getting me into the best shave I've ever had. Rockwell rocks!
You rock! Happy Thanksgiving Bryan
DUDE. 100%. I am a devotee of your channel, having learned quite a bit and really, really enjoying the experience. I started with the Manscaped Plow 2.0 (it's ok, honestly) before I found your channel and am now the happy owner of a Rockwell 6C (does literally everything right). I've not had to travel multiple days on business for the past several months, so this week I have to be in Vegas all week for work. I could not carry on the Rockwell, so wound up going back to my trusty Harry's system I used for so many years (and loved, by the way), thinking, "What could go wrong?" and "I gotta really wonder how much difference it will be..." because I have not revisited Harry's for months now. So: OH, WOW. Awful, terrible. With a brand new handle and blades, the net effect of Harry's feels like I sanded my face instead of shaved with it. The flimsy, too light, wobbly head, the NEVER GETS THE HAIR on the first, or second, or fifth pass. Ouch. I am gonna shave here in 5 minute, again, with the Harry's system, again. THEN I am going to figure out something else. I don't check bags so I will have to figure out something, but holy smokes.
True True believer. You bought one heck of a razor. The Rockwell 6C is my all-time favorite razor because it is so versatile. I haven't used a cartridge razor for over a year myself. A lot of subscribers want me to do a comparison video but I am afraid I'm gonna have ingrown hairs all over my face and total irritation. I'm gonna have to pass on that video just for the sheer Factor of how good my skin looks today compared to two years ago. Thank you so much for sharing that am sure a lot of viewers are going to give you thumbs up on this comment. Thank you so much for your support.
Thanks David ð
Those throw away BIC razors, like an entire piece of plastic with handle and all, that is truly nuts.
Their DE blades made in Greece are pretty good though in my opinion, to end my comment positively ð
Best regards and congratulations on your channel ð

He is the most honest spokesman on the net . every word he says is true Stop screwing your wallet with throw always . I will drive down the road in my car and feel my own neck and think WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG!!!!!!!! I will eventually get a 6s This guy is the real deal ,
Youâre the best. Thanks for your support
Iâve only been doing it for a few months now. Before I only had to shave once or twice a week. Now I have to shave more often and wanted something a little easier on my face. Iâm on a Su,T,Th routine with a Rockford 6S on 6 with Astra Platinums. I use mostly Stirling products, but also the Thayers and sometimes Nivea post shave balm. I enjoy it and just splurged for a Captainâs Choice copper lather bowl. I get most of my stuff from a couple companies in TSUN, TRC and Maggard.
That's fantastic. I love the people over at The Razor Company. Jason and his crew are awesome.
Looking good. You can tell that your editing skills in fcpx are getting better.
ðð
Hey, I use a gillette fusion 5 but most of the time I only use the back blade to shape the beard on the cheeks and I use the front blades to shave on the neck.
I'm planning to try and change to a rockwell 6c or 6s.
My question is, do safety razors work fine with shaving gel? I lilke clear shaving gels so I know exactly where I need to cut.
If they work just fine, do you have any recomended shaving gels?
Whatever shaving creame or gel, you're currently using will work
I got into wet shaving because of yt videos, they are a godsend, I am turning 20 in a few days and have been using a MÞhle r81 for a year with a tabac soap and simpson sinthetic brush, works wonders, I'm getting into a shavette this year, wish me luck.
That is awesome!
Keep preaching! It's so cheap to give safety razor shaving a try. Those who do will be like the rest of us. Why did we wait so long to make the switch.
ðð
ðI completely agree, great videoð

What razor setup are you currently using for head shaves? Merkur 23C + Derby Extra has been my preferred setup after about 2 months of making the switch.
I like all rockwell razor's. There more smooth and the adjustability of these razors is huge for me. The more hair I have to remove the higher the setting I use. The design of this video might be the first of its kind in wet shaving. Superb effort, cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!
So kind. Thank you much
Hi David,
Want to thank you for your guidance a couple of months ago to get me started with wetshaving. Your guidance eventually lead me to getting a Muhle R89 Grande since it's the equivalent of the Merkur 34c I could get in South Africa.
I want to get more aggressive and I will highly appreciate your advice again. Regardless of price I'm considering a Rockwell 6c or a Henson al13 +++ aggressive. Which one do you think I should go for?

Bro, reason I made the switch is cause cratridge razors were not sharp and smooth enough. Something inside me told me DE shaving was the solution and I was right. Finding the right blade and razor combo you will be set for life
I agree
Hi Dave, great vid - and nice job on the technical effort! I was one of the fortunate guys who never had problems with cartridge razors, so my switch a few years ago was simply that I was interested in the âhobbyâ and the idea that shaving could be an enjoyable and skilled experience rather than a hygiene chore. I havenât saved a cent, but I have enjoyed the switch - and I do get dramatically better shaves!
I got my son a safety razor and, for him, itâs just normal shaving. He has no interest in the âhobbyâ, trying different razors, soaps etc. He has one razor, one pre-shave, one soap, one balm, and an alum block - and he gets new product only when heâs used up the current product. Heâll use the Merkur for at least several decades. And he will save so much money in his life time that otherwise would go to Gillette.
Whether you switch for the tradition/âromanceâ of wet shaving, to get better shaves, or to save $$, or reduce plastic waste, safety razors make sense. And I appreciate that you never forget the newbies or those who are thinking about switching. You regularly produce vids that seek to encourage and reassure those people, and make the switch as easy as possible.
Well said. Thanks for sharing
Switched to safety razors around 2 months ago and started my journey with Henson. I like it a lot! Their awesome customer service sent me one extra razor to address a cosmetic flaw, so now my wife has one as well ð
Just received my Rockwell 6S and had my first shave with it yesterday. It was the best shave that I ever had! Love the extra weight and more aggression that you can choose.
If anyone is on the fence about switching to safety razor - don't sleep on the Rockwell Black Friday deals! Grabbing any of their sets is a no-brainer!

I'm looking to get out of my Harry's subscription plan. I'm interested in the Leaf razor. My beard grows in fast and thick and I don't have time for leisurely 3-pass shaves. Will the Leaf work OK?
Go for it!
Hi if you are bald like me and you shave your head with a D.E. Razor please use a pre shave cream or Coconut Oil as a protection base for your head. Apply either Proraso pre shave cream or Coconut oil then then the Shaving cream.Once you shave that cream will come off like butter and it will prevent cuts and razor bumps. Your head will be Cueball smooth.ð
Great tip
I switched to wet shaving later in life a year ago. Shoulda done is sooner. Since then, I've had such great shaves using the good ol' Rockwell 6C. Now, I'm trying to teach my daughter how to save money doing the same and am thinking about getting her a Leaf Twig for xmas.

April 2nd i will be breaking out. I bought the manscaped plow 2.0 because i like it. Just have to figure out which blades i like. I have the 3 manscaped blades that come with it and i bought a sample pack off amazon of random blades.
You're set and well on your way. Congratulations.
I came across a shaving brush 7 or 8 years ago. I decided to buy it and started using creams instead of cans. But still used cartridges. The thing I didn't lik is that they kept adding more blades. Didn't see the point. And then I got a safety razor and started getting into the classic shaving, the soaps, the blades... And it became a hobby, a nice me-time, just a fun experience.

Can you please make a review on it?.
Love the channel.
Thank you.

I do use Harry's when I go on a airplane no choice since I only take carry on bag as there no chance of losing luggage that way. But when I'm home I use Rockwell 6c safety razor or a Irvine shavette
Great Razor
It will be 10 years the first week of February since I started wet shaving and I've been on TH-cam since May 7th, 2011 but didn't start making shave videos until later. I have 3 favorite razors. The Henson AL13++ (medium) with a Gillette Wilkinson Sword Saloon Pack blade from India. 100 of those blades are between $9 and $12 US Dollars. The Leaf razor and I just recently got an epic shave from Leaf's Thorn Razor with a leaf branded blade. Here's something else that a lot of people don't know. All of those cartridge razor companies do NOT give you their sharpest blades in the refill packages like they do when you buy a handle and they do it ON PURPOSE so you will have to buy more blades.
Thanks for letting us know
My first safety razor could have been designed to cause fear. First, it was a Merkur Futur, which isn't an ideal 1st safety razor, but I bought it used, and you know how it has a 1-6 adjustable setting? A few years later I discovered it had been popped beyond that and was a 13-18 range. I had to be extremely cautious with my technique and would still often get cuts.
I have extremely hard time using the Futur. Unless I'm removing beard growth, like 30 days worth, it just collects dust.
I switched to the safety razor 5 years ago and I have never looked back! My favorite is the Muhle. I also use Edwin Jagger and Merkur. My advise is dont go cheap on the safety razor.
What are you considering cheap?
I recently switched to a safety razor in December before my 21st birthday and I'm really enjoying using one. Still need some practicing thoughð

Only getting back to this after 50 years using plastic although never had any of the problems that seem to be associated with plastic but my first attempt with DE was a bloody affair so am hoping for future improvement as I get some of the product suggested for a better shave. Product in Australia seems to be a lot more expensive that in US or Europe apart from the cheap supermarket offerings.
What are you currently shaving with right now?
