    Thank you very much for this inside view of the tracker. I just bought one on Amazon, and will receive it in a few days. I have two goals:
    One is to live feed on TH-cam the sun and the moon for a couple of hours, this in alt/az mode.
    Second is to astrophotograph stuff in the sky, so I have also purchased the stuff needed for that. I will be using my Olympus 300mm f4, and the EM1 Mkiii which can astro focus.
    It is with your great videos that have helped me to achieve these goals.
    I have done some pretty good astro landscapes and wish to move on to some more difficult things to do as I'm retired, bad back somewhat and need to fill my time :)
    Cheers!
    Randy

    Great description for tweaking the Az-GTI (I own it as well). Quite funny, that translation software for spoken language into writing. An "Evoguide" becomes an "Evil Guide".

    Thank you very much Andrea for this video and the writeup on your website. Although I’ve not experienced the problems you described yet, it was nevertheless very informative getting to about it and learning the inner workings of the Az GTi. I do however have been experiencing accuracy problems with the slewing lately. I can’t seem to get some stars within my 25mm EP. I normally align using 2 star alignment. Any advice from other viewers are much appreciated as well. Thanks

      I think i read a similiar issue on CN
      Try using more seperated stars
      Vega
      Aldeberan
      Rigel
      Not Deneb after vega
      Remember polaris is offset from the real pole so dont center it
      That might help
      and later sync or resync to the object your looking at as that builds a better map inside its brain😮😢
      Hopefuly that helps a bit

      Thanks. I have another video illustrating how I use it for deep sky astrophotography and with which equipment. I use a non cooled asi183mc camera and miniguide scope with asi224mc. all controlled with asiair 1st generation via eqmod cable. my imaging scopes are: samyang 135 f/2, skywatcher evoguide 50ed and celestron c5 reduced to about 700mm

    I have tried today the mount along with QHY guiding cam, it did tracked but constantly loses tracking in RA axis, so I will need to give it a kick.....I mean strip down :D Hopefully it won't be so stiff after that.

    Thanks for a detailed AR tuning. But what about the DEC one ? This is where I face some strong problems with the motor stalling and having serious troubles to turn. I would love a detailed video of deassembly and reassembly..Thanks

    • @andreaminoia2002
      @andreaminoia2002  ปีที่แล้ว

      My declination only need adjustment in the spring loaded mechanism that mesh the gearbox to the worm gear, so I didn't fully disassembly the declination axes. should not be much different than RA, though

  • @jonrbryan

    Thank you, Andrea. Your video is very timely, since I'm just about to tear mine down. My azimuth is very stiff and has the backlash you demonstrated. I'm using KStars/Ekos on my MacBook Pro, and I hope that's the reason the mount is frequently aborting moves. I usually see the problem when I'm trying to park the mount or do a polar alignment.

    • @andreaminoia2002
      @andreaminoia2002  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi. i don't know those software so can't help. I never had much problems with controlling the mount via asiair though

    • @jonrbryan
      @jonrbryan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andreaminoia2002 Gracious of you to reply, Andrea. I disassembled the mount, re-greased the azimuth axis and reassembled it with a bit less tension. The stiction noises went away and it seems not to labor so much when moving now. It's still not an easy mount to balance in RA. I'm getting it close, then fine tuning it so that it sounds the same when slewing both ways.
      KStars/Ekos is a complete solution for the Mac, and I've been running the MacBook the last couple of sessions from inside the house on my iMac. Maybe it's too early to say so, but the aborted moves appear to have been from the Hour Angle limit setting. It seems like a bug that it was only happening when parking or polar aligning.

    Great, informative video. Quick question - where did you get the blue base that connects the AZ-GTi to your WO latitude base ? It appears to have the bolt that screws into the indentation on the base plate of the AZGTi. Mine AZGTi- bought used did not have this. Instead it came with one of the SkyWatcher ballhead adapter, which I find unsuitable.

    • @andreaminoia2002
      @andreaminoia2002  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi. thanks for watching. At the moment I didn't find a way to completely remove backlash but yes, I regreased and tuned the spring loaded mechanism for the declination. It take a bit to settle for me, but then i can guide both axis and both ways quite well. off course dithering is still a hit and miss with this settle time

  • @philblack9682

    Hi, thanks for a great video. I noticed that at 8.49 in your video you can see a large ball bearing in the main body on the RA axis that you are just about to assemble. On other videos this bearing does not exist, it is just a plain bush machined directly in the aluminium body. Is this bearing an upgrade which you made or did it come like this, if so it must be upgrade on later built mounts, maybe to overcome the RA stiffness some where experiencing. I wonder if my mount purchased in Dec 2021 has this bearing, I have not dared dismantle yet as my axis is smooth anyway.

    • @andreaminoia2002
      @andreaminoia2002  ปีที่แล้ว

      Was standard in my mount but it is a rather vital component so I doubt there were versions with no bearings

    I have some problems with the mount: sometimes it disconnects, it turns off completely. I noticed, when dismantling it, that if I tighten the screws completely it turns off, while if I unscrew them slightly it turns on. there must be a contact problem but I have no idea where to look. the app and the firmware are updated. Many thanks
