I literally just finished this job WITHOUT removing ANYTHING from under the hood. Upside down, on my back, removed pedal assembly and replaced seal. Great detail on your video, thank you.

Thank you for sharing this! I was hoping and thinking I could do it this way also. Were you able to twist and turn the seal (as in clockwise) around the shaft thing to ensure you were fully sealed all the way around? What did you use to push the seal down to ensure a solid tuck and fit?

What year and model is your mercedez? I may work on my c300 2017 soon, I heard a noise today but it stopped.

Thanks, I went to investigate it a while back and found an old t shirt wrapped around the seal haha so I just left it.

I decided to not waste time with any short cuts and buy a new brake booster from Mercedes and replaced it. I had the same issue with my 2004 ML350. A quart of the boot was detached from the metal part of the brake booster looking under the dash board. With the car running, I can use my fingers to press the boot against the metal frame and the hissing would stop. The replacement was not impossible. The most difficult part was working upside down under the dash board. So, if you are going to be upside down under the dash board trying to push the seal back in, you might as well replace it with a new one brake booster. After removing the master cylinder, you just have to wiggle around to get the old brake booster out and put the new booster back in.

Yeah, a new booster would be great but its way more cost effective to repair it with a new seal once removed. Installing a new seal from under the dash would be extremely difficult and a much higher risk of tearing the new seal. I still need to bleed my brakes lol. Life is so busy

    I just did my on 2004 ML350
I didn’t remove brake booster I did i from inside
On my 04 I have all kinds of space
Inside on brake pedal you have three 13mm bolts and pin remove it take brake pedal completely out
Put seat all the way back
Pull oils seal out be careful seal is broken pull it out slow just like video shows you not want leave any rubber pieces inside.
Kit I received I got greed seal and pvc plastic pipe maybe 8-9 inches I cut off from even side maybe 2 1/2 inches off so I can clear brake booster plunger than I was able to use hammer to get seal inside easier. Make sure seal is completely in and flush with brake booster edge
I took me maybe 45 minutes
Best of luck if this method doesn’t work for you just take booster out and do it on the bench.
You lost nothing by trying this method.
Because you still have to remove 13mm bolts and pedal.

How did you remove the dust boot / dust cover? I don't want to tear or cut mine, and it doesn't look like it will stretch over the bracket. Great video BTW. I'm doing mine with the brake booster still in and it's not too bad on my 2002 ML350. I did find one small part of my seal did not come out so I went fishing with a low angle hook tool and forceps while careful not to scratch to shaft.

And my question was answered in the instructions URO provided. Just pull it off. The rubber does stretch enough.

I was able to get mine in without removing it……had to take out the front seat though and it’s differently better to have shorter arms than longer when driving the seal in…..I had to get a buddy to drive the seal in as my arms are too long but to be fair he also scratched the white plastic sleeve and now it has a slight hiss towards the top travel of the pedal…..allot better than it hissing constantly!! But yeah I am get one of those rebuilt ones from car done I think or one of those companies…..thanks for sharing!!

Removing the front seat is pretty simple compared to all the work needed to remove the booster. Did you use the PVC pipe to drive it on? What caused the scratch? Thanks for watching and the comment!

@@InfidelGarage he said it kept popping out when he was driving it in with the plastic pipe so he was using a pick to work it down and ended up slipping and scratching the booster pipe…..smh…..totally one of those bro don’t use that you’ll scratch the pipe deals where they say nah I got it…..hahaha…..had a whole assortment of plastic trim tools to use!!! Oh well definitely way better than before but still wanna fully fix it 100% right…..looking forward to the column video!!!!
