Hey Hampton! Long time fan and lurker, got a question for you and hope to poke into your mind a bit more :) You seem to be a pretty optimistic dude, which is great! My question is, do you ever get to a state where you "run out of" optimism? If so, how do you find yourself replenishing it? I've been trying to be a more optimistic person lately, and it works out most of the time. But every few weeks, I find my optimism "burnt out", and I slowly creep back to my cynical self. And it is really hard for me to pick myself back to the optimistic mindset.
This is a great question and I actually filmed something today about maintaining hope and optimism. My optimism levels got unusually low when I was sick last week (both occurrences are very unusual). It's fine to not always be hopeful and excited, but I try to put myself in a situation where I routinely am optimistic, at least several times during the week. The people we hang around and the content we consume seem to REALLY affect this. If the people and media with which you surround yourself is always preaching "doom and gloom," it can be very easy to feel this way too. Hang around people that make you optimistic. If they don't exist, then consume content that makes you optimistic and excited to live life. It's not delusional, as some might tell you. I mean, what's the alternative? Being pessimistic (and calling it "realistic") and doing less in life? Enjoying life less overall? Ain't nobody got time for that. Will post the video this weekend, I think! I hope it helps.
As Zig Ziglar said, “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing - that’s why we recommend it daily.” I've found that to be very true for me, with motivation, optimism, or even just interests. Whatever I feed flourishes, and whatever I stop feeding can fade quickly. I try to "feed" my positivity with positive quotes, books, and videos (like Hybrid Calisthenics!) on a regular basis.
I’m an introverted person. I need time alone to decompress and reflect, listen to Let’s Read, or just watch a movie by myself. If I don’t get enough of that I will feel mentally exhausted, judgmental, angry, and depressed. My husband is the same way (introverted). I don’t know about the OP’s personality (extrovert vs introvert), but this is what helps me. Also, I’ve had to learn to say “no” and set healthy boundaries. I still struggle with that part. I will start to feel resentful if I say “yes” too much to please others.
@@HybridCalisthenics waiting to watch the optimism video now :) But you're right. I do find myself more optimistic when I watch a lot of youtubers I'm inspired by(like you :)), and I try to be more like them. This...is so grounded, so reasonable, so simple, so "reachable". And for anxious people prone to overthinking like me, this is soooo much better than a hundred-pages book or a "coach" droning on and on. I am in the middle of a breakup after a breakdown, clinically depressed, unstructured because my ex was the one imposing her routine (and I was passively following along - I know, that where I/we screwed up), and my therapist has been nagging me for weeks to set up a routine and I haven't. But now I will. Because it isn't much. Because it's flexible. Because by saying so little, you leave enough room for me to imagine my own instead of aping someone else's. Or in a few words: where most advice sounds as "you should", yours genuinely sound like "you could".
Thank you so much, my friend. One of my main goals while spending hours creating these videos is to improve the lives of our community members, even if just by a little bit. Thank you for being here! It means a lot.

Hey Hampton, just wanted to say thanks. Been following your stretching routine daily for a couple of weeks by now, also started to do your calisthenics routine 3 weeks ago. I'm already much more flexible and generally feel better! Thanks :3
One of the reasons why i also make my bed every morning is because i see it as the first task of the day which helps me become productive and lets say i end up having a bad day? I get to come home to a ready made bed. Makes all the difference.
Thank you! Recently, I've started meditating for 30 minutes (have to look at the phone to start the timer, though.) Then, I make coffee and make my bed while coffee is brewing. Then I pray and sit down to drink coffee and watch a few youtube videos before starting my studies.
Hey! I've been watching your videos for a while and just wanna say I really love them! I could tell you alot how you helped me, but especially this video alone really gave me inspiration to take my morning routine in different view. I've never thought about doing mindless thing first thing in the morning to let the brain in "neutral mode" and I'll sure implement it and the todolist tip seems very helpful to me, because I think of everything I *should* do, having it impossible to get it done that day and be down at evening thanks for that and for sure it has weaknesses so I will approach it my way. Thanks for being such a motivational force for a lot of people and have a nice day too! (If anyone was interested my IDEAL morning routine is this: -Wake up and make my bed -Brush my teeth and wash my face -Gratitude journal -Make/eat breakfast and make some snacks for whole day -Meditate (with open window helps a lot) -I will sure implement the mindless activity, todolist and i think a little exercise)
Love this, and heavily agree with everything you've listed. I recognize this is a "morning routine" list, but if I may suggest. Skip step 6 and move that to your night/winding down routine. By writing down what you want/need to get done the night before, you start the day already prepared to tackle your to-do list without the stress of forgetting something. I've done this religiously since 2011 and it's worked wonders for my productivity and starting the day in a calm atmosphere. I used to do this on a piece of paper that I'd leave by my bedside; but since have migrated to using Trello where I can create multiple lists such as "today", "next time you visit parents", and even a "when you get a minute" list. Hope this helps!
Thank you for emphasizing the importances of sleep and not crazy wake up times like 5AM. (I mean if that time works for someone and they got enough sleep all good). I find this so much healthier and more balanced than so many morning routines, especially like having times just to sort of zone out as I think that is when creativity happens. Mine is pretty basic, I don't make my bed right off as I pull back the sheets and open my window to air things out and then make it a bit later in the day. I try and take a short walk & do a quick and easy mobility type exercise (yoga, dynamic stretching, easy exercise video, anything to get the blood flowing and limbered up a bit), & I try to always start with a tall glass of water as I find it helps wake me up and I am more likely to stay hydrated. I don't do physical lists as I find they don't work for me, but I do mentally go through what I want to accomplish.
You just made me feel better. I always make a list and then beat myself up for not doing enough of it. If I resolve to do three, just maybe I'll finish them, and 4 or 5 or more!
Hey, just wanted to comment on this video to say thankyou. Ive been in a slump for the last 2 years. This feels like I’m at the worst point in my life, but when I find someone like you on here it really gives me the motivation I need to be a better version of myself
Hampton, I love your morning routine, and it is actually similar to mine since I've been in retirement. The main thing I will adopt is the not checking phone for 30 minutes or maybe more. Otherwise, I find your philosophies for this routine to be very similar to mine. Now I know there are others who like this morning routine and its encouraging. THANKS!!
Thank you for being you. Your such a balance person. I feel you have added to so many peoples life’s by the way you share. In a way seldom seen. Enjoy a great day.
Hey Hampton, thanks so much for your posts. They always give me so much fuel for my life. I like hearing about how others organize their day or develop their routines. My morning routine has changed, now that I am out of the workaday world, and a bit longer in the tooth than probably most of your readers. Mine tend to change seasonally, or really just as needed, or sometimes for no particular reason at all or if I'm trying to add something new to my life or my mornings. I am an early riser, I like to be up by sunrise or a little before. I give the pets their morning feed, I make myself a warm beverage. I like to sit in the quiet of the morning, journalling my thoughts, anything I remember from my dreams, or leftovers of emotions from the day or two previous. I'll eat a small breakfast. The mindless part for me is the internet, usually news around the world or looking something up I saw and want to find out more about. I filter the news stuff heavily and stay away from the noise and clamor of whatever the outrage of the day is. Then a little meditation, or quiet observation of the wildlife outside. Or maybe start some housework, gardening, or cooking. Then the dog walk; he's an active breed so he gets a pretty good long walk every day. then home to change and work out for an hour or more before having a light lunch and getting into the middle of the day. P.S. I like to make my bed every morning too. But I have a super simple bed too. Fitted sheet, duvet, pillow. Done.
I start my day twice.. when I wake up in pain I cone out to the smoke room watch TH-cam videos drink water then decide to create or try an sleep.. I generally paint. Then I sleep an start again repeat 1st part with coffee an water an art figure my must does an want to do an see if I can get some done. It's been a pleasure watching your videoes
I really appreciate your authenticity. It comes through in all of your videos. You say what you feel you need to say, not solely what you think others want/expect you to say. It's really nice. Thank you for your content.
I worked 10 days straight, spent all Thursday eating, spent all Friday sleeping. Getting this video suggestion for Saturday morning is just what I need.
Thanks for posting this video! I’m definitely going to try the mindless half hour thing. I’m not a morning person so maybe something like drawing(a calming hobby for me) every morning would be helpful to get me in the right mindset for the day. God bless and thanks again!
Wow, that sure is simple! Thanks for sharing, this is refreshing as so many people out there are sharing super elaborate morning routines that according to them are absolutely necessary for success. This just goes to show that each person is different, and in my opinion we would all benefit from doing some exploration to see what works best for ourselves instead of trying to imitate some other person. Of course we can get ideas from others but in the end I think it is best to adapt it to what feels best for us. Have a great day Hampton!!
Love this!! I don’t think we talk about the basics of our days enough. I like seeing what people do when not on camera. Anyway, keep up the great work! I love your content most of all! I love how genuine you come across as and I really find myself not only digging your philosophy but agreeing with your philosophy a majority of the time
I like this. I need to build a routine. I’ve had an open heart surgery and liver transplant, both in the last 18 months. So I have been doing a lot of nothing. I haven’t healed like I thought I would but I can start adding little things to my day/life to give more meaning to my life. Thanks again. As always I love this content.
Thanks Hampton. I'm watching your video after a long time, and you somehow brought a little peace in my chaotic life. Wish I did that sooner. Also, I got the same alarm tone as you :-D Have a beautiful day Hampton. Wish me luck for tomorrow's exam✌🏻🌻
I have the same Alarm! It's quite pleasant to hear but it's starting to give me anxiety! I've changed it to the classic alarm clock. Also, great video!
Often hear people talking about getting their best ideas in the shower and I have experienced this too. Guess it’s the mindless aspect you refer to. Interesting stuff, thank you.
Dang Batman! What kinds of community problems are you solving in the mornings on a whim? Lol you’re literally the coolest dude ever. Love this channel brother!
I am limited in my morning routine as my spouse sleeps later than I do (we work different hours). I get up and work out (run MWF, calisthenics 😉 TTS, rest Sunday), do a quick rinse in the shower (no more than 2 minutes), I get dressed, take my meds, pack food for the day (sometimes breakfast and lunch, sometimes just lunch), and then it's out the door for work or off to start chores!
I just found you yesterday. FB reels. Finally, a positive from watching them! Your videos make me feel like I have a new friend. Anyway, I love knowing a person who cares about their health does not eat breakfast. I usually start to feel hungry around 1 pm. I make sure I have a large glass of water when I wake up, so I am hydrated. I have long been told I should eat breakfast to be fit, but I never understood making yourself eat in the morning if you aren't hungry. Thank you from a new fan.
Ngl your alarm kinda freaked me out for a second. I use the same one and when i heard it i was like "oh shoot gotta wake up now" which led to a very confusing couple of seconds. Love your work, keep it up Hampton!
Another great video! I love the flexibility and simplicity of your routine. I think if your morning routine is too long or involved, it makes you not look forward to your morning. Right now, I'm adding "gratitude" to my morning routine, where I think of ten things I'm grateful for.
My morning routine: Alarm goes off -> put on clothes -> make food for my 3 kids -> dress them -> laugh and dance with them so they feel good starting the day -> bring them to school with a 40 min walk I spend around 5 min on myself and I always have something on my mind sadly. I can't find the time where I "mindlessly do something..." My kids are my number one priority and it just feels bad thinking about my own wellness before them... They are my motivation tho and my reason to live for atm so for me it's all worth it.
@@HybridCalisthenics I love your mental health series a lot because somehow I'm suffering with my mental health... I won't say that my problems would wash off because of your videos but I'd be lying if I say they don't help at all.. Because they do help me a lot..to stay motivated in what I love to do.. P.S.- love your workout videos a lot as well 😇😇
Right now I'm clearing out more of things I don't use. Not much to check on my phone. I don't do more social media than TH-cam, and that's not important till I make it important. No coffee here, but a bowl of oats is good after getting cleaned up and bed made, trash emptied, etc. I often have dishes from the night before, so I do those with the breakfast dishes. Take and record my blood pressure, and spend some time on the stepper. Sometimes do a light workout. Sometimes I don't feel like eating till late morning, or even later, so I eat a nice plant based lunch/brunch. As I go through the day, I get more energy, but still might need a nap, and then clean or sew, or might need to go to the store. I'm not a shopper, so mostly I run errands from a list, and buy groceries, if I need something I can't get on the internet. Easy to buy groceries on the internet these days. I got started with your channel for the exercises, so hope you keep that up. Nice channel.
I checked my phone first thing when I woke up, and saw a message from my best friend, this video, and heard rain and birdsong outside my window. Not too bad I think :)
If I set my alarm to your tone I'd never get up lol. I have a rooster blaring in my ear, it's soo annoying it gets me up pissed lol. After getting up and clearing my bladder, letting the dogs out, I pray - always. I don't ever make my bed. I drink 6 oz of black coffee daily but may try your way so I thoroughly enjoy it when I get it. Fortunately my phone has never ever been a problem for me, sometimes I can go all day w/o checking it. And I must learn to make a "Top 7 Things To Do" list. Thanks Hampton.
Listen to a morning meditation while I awaken, that helps me think about some things that would make this day great. Then I already know what I want to do for that day 🥰
I start fasting during the evening at 18 and usually don't eat anything before 10 in the morning. So something along the lines of this: 6.30 wake up, get dressed 6.35 check and record morning weight 6.40 take morning vitamins with a glass of water 6.45 take the dog out for a walk, usually 4-5km so between 45-60min 7.45 make some coffee, feed the dog etc 8.00 drink said coffee while reading for 20ish minutes 8.30 get prepared to start working (or start working) Making the bed is not a priority to us, for work schedule related things - my schedule is pretty rigid but my wife's is very not :D
Yes, not checking the phone is so important. At least for me, I never touch the phone until I am done with meditation. What I do is 10-15 minutes of meditation and 30 minutes sports. My partner gets up later than me, so I leave the bedroom as quietly as possible and can't make the bed, even though I'd love to do that. But that just makes me enjoy getting up with him the few times it happens more.
If you actually see this comment, can you *please* do a video covering your evening routine? I have such a hard time regularly going to bed and waking up at consistent times, especially the former. What do you do to avoid laying in bed watching TH-cam on your phone until you fall asleep? I’ve tried just laying in bed, but then I just end up staring at the ceiling for a long time. Trying to sleep is so boring, I wish I could just immediately fall asleep.
I do the mindless bit in the tram to work/library in the morning, i just listen to music with my head empty Great video!! I should try delaying the phone thing
Hi, guys. My morning routine is pretty much the same as Hampton's, especially with not checking my phone for quite some time after I woke up, freshun up, made the bed and even a bit more after that. That would be depending on if it's an important day when I know there is something important I may be contacted for. When in comes to differences, I started doing a new thing around 2 weeks ago. That is after waking up and getting out of the bed, I go to my window, open it and the look into the world for about 30 seconds. The purpose for me covers multiple things. The one I enjoy the most is that by doing it I get the pulse of the world and somehow I connect with it, at the same time I feel it can be looked at as a meditation practice, in which I just admire nature, clouds, the sun, birds, the weather, people moving around and other elements without thinking of anything. I definitely agree that this is much more enjoyable if you live in a quieter area rather than in one with constant traffic, noise and such. Usually after this exercise I make my bed and other stuff. :)
It’s great to make your bed but you shouldn’t do it the moment you wake up, reason being if you sleep in a warm enough temperature, your body heat actually create moisture in the air inside the duvet, when you wake up, you should lift your duvet so the moisture can dissipate, also it minimize the bacteria growth in your mattress and duvet/comforter. So when you wake up, go brush your teeth, make your coffee/tea, then come back in 15 minutes to make your bed instead.
Boogernose sounds like a funny nickname! I wake up, play with the dog, take all my Medication, grab my phone and watch, go to the bathroom and freshen up, then go downstairs. If it’s a day my family are home then I figure out what everyone is doing, and what I need to do to support that. If it’s a day when I am home alone, I get the dog fed and do some trick training, then I usually chill out watching happy TH-cam videos, playing the Sims4 or start planning for medical appointments that I have later in the week. I spend time trying to check what we are having for dinner, and what I need to contribute towards that (turn on the slow cooker, or check we have certain ingredients or message my husband to get something). Then I usually take a nap, if I’m not in too much pain to sleep. Then organise my carer, ask my kids how school/college was and check they are okay, play with my younger kid and offer them both hugs, and then it’s dinner time, bath time and bed time again. Sometimes I just have to curl up in pain, or spend hours vomiting. But usually I am just fighting to stay awake. I try to take a short walk on “good” days, at the moment I am doing a small, slow walk once a week and I am going to add in some exercises on Tuesdays when I feel I am managing the walk better. Eventually I want to do small exercises every day, and walk twice a week.
Best things in the morning. Cigar toilet and games on phone. I like this channel i do some of the exercise. But at least im honest. P.S. love your voice. Keep up the good work.

I like what you said about drinking coffee every other day. I should start practicing that method.☕☕
Hey, just wanted to comment on this video to say thankyou. Ive been in a slump for the last 2 years. This feels like I’m at the worst point in my life, but when I find someone like you on here it really gives me the motivation I need to be a better version of myself
Part of my morning routine is laying in bed awake for an hour building up the mindset to get up. I really need to cut that step out.
I wish you the best. Thank you for these videos.
Done.
You are frickn awesome bro!! Thank you!! 🙏🏻
Thank You Hampton, And Have a beautiful, wonderful day, my friend!!!
Yooooooo the Foreigner t-shirt!!! ♡♡♡ big fan here
A man of culture i see...
You keep getting better and better
I really appreciate your authenticity. It comes through in all of your videos. You say what you feel you need to say, not solely what you think others want/expect you to say. It's really nice. Thank you for your content.
Hampton's legit he ain't lying like other TH-camrs showing fancy and professional like morning routine which they don't even follow off camera.
Ayyyee I dig the Foreigner shirt 🤙
Bro I love how calm you are
Love this!!
I don’t think we talk about the basics of our days enough. I like seeing what people do when not on camera.
Anyway, keep up the great work!
I love your content most of all!
I love how genuine you come across as and I really find myself not only digging your philosophy but agreeing with your philosophy a majority of the time
Nice and simple and approachable, as always
Thanks for shining your light. You have a beautiful soul.
My favourite Saturday morning. Breakfast and Drinking coffee plus watching Hampton
Also, I got the same alarm tone as you :-D
Have a beautiful day Hampton.
Wish me luck for tomorrow's exam✌🏻🌻
Good luck!
what i actually learned from this vid:
hampton loves his coffee to be labour intensive😂☕ but i respect that alot
i like that you are honest about doing things just sometimes! this motivates much more than those typical morning routine videos
All you rich kids need something like this so you can do something during the day
I have the same Alarm!
Thankyou so much for this man! Keep up the great work
Dang Batman! What kinds of community problems are you solving in the mornings on a whim? Lol you’re literally the coolest dude ever. Love this channel brother!
My morning routine:
1. Get woken by alarm
2. Turn off alarm
3. Go back to sleep
I appreciate you sharing your morning routine with the community!
Thats my exact phone alarm! Off to a good start :)
I love your positivity man!
Made it clearer to me that I'd like to establish a routine... Thx for the appreciative input
Ngl your alarm kinda freaked me out for a second. I use the same one and when i heard it i was like "oh shoot gotta wake up now" which led to a very confusing couple of seconds. Love your work, keep it up Hampton!
Good ideas, Hampton. Quite related to the bjm (bullet journal method, great book)
Another great video! I love the flexibility and simplicity of your routine. I think if your morning routine is too long or involved, it makes you not look forward to your morning. Right now, I'm adding "gratitude" to my morning routine, where I think of ten things I'm grateful for.
The familiarity of the alarm sound yours made me smile
My morning routine:
Alarm goes off -> put on clothes -> make food for my 3 kids -> dress them -> laugh and dance with them so they feel good starting the day -> bring them to school with a 40 min walk
I spend around 5 min on myself and I always have something on my mind sadly. I can't find the time where I "mindlessly do something..." My kids are my number one priority and it just feels bad thinking about my own wellness before them... They are my motivation tho and my reason to live for atm so for me it's all worth it.
Best. TH-cam. Channel. Ever.
Idkw but your channel is my life savior... really love your voice and words 🥰🥰
Thank you so much! Is there anything in particular you'd like to see?
@@HybridCalisthenics I love your mental health series a lot because somehow I'm suffering with my mental health... I won't say that my problems would wash off because of your videos but I'd be lying if I say they don't help at all.. Because they do help me a lot..to stay motivated in what I love to do..
P.S.- love your workout videos a lot as well 😇😇
agreed. thanks hampton
It’s so…peaceful. I want it. I’ll try and get it. Thank you ❤️
Listen to a morning meditation while I awaken, that helps me think about some things that would make this day great. Then I already know what I want to do for that day 🥰
"I use my phone as an alarm and the sound is much more pleasant..."
*plays same alarm clock sound as you... ptsd kicks in
True lol
Appreciate you sharing😊
I start fasting during the evening at 18 and usually don't eat anything before 10 in the morning. So something along the lines of this:
6.30 wake up, get dressed
6.35 check and record morning weight
6.40 take morning vitamins with a glass of water
6.45 take the dog out for a walk, usually 4-5km so between 45-60min
7.45 make some coffee, feed the dog etc
8.00 drink said coffee while reading for 20ish minutes
8.30 get prepared to start working (or start working)
Making the bed is not a priority to us, for work schedule related things - my schedule is pretty rigid but my wife's is very not :D
Thx for sharing this! It inspires me and gives me some energy to be more discipline with my morning routine
Great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
I have no idea why I like this guy so much...
I want to leave IT job to enjoy the life like you😭
Thank you. This is wonderful and indeed minimalist.
I do the mindless bit in the tram to work/library in the morning, i just listen to music with my head empty
Great video!! I should try delaying the phone thing
Shout out to Bernard. ❤️🌿
Love from Bernard!
thank you sir,it is very inspiring
greeting from Indonesia
Thank you for your content brother
Thank you for being here!
you have the most calming house location
0:20 We have the same alarm and that just sent shivers down my spine😂
So when you wake up, go brush your teeth, make your coffee/tea, then come back in 15 minutes to make your bed instead.
just watching this video makes me calm
That's my alarm tone too! Much more calming...
I have one that sounds like water moving gently. It's my favorite. So lovely to wake to.
Boogernose sounds like a funny nickname!
I wake up, play with the dog, take all my
Medication, grab my phone and watch, go to the bathroom and freshen up, then go downstairs.
Heard that cursed ringtone and now I have flashbacks 😭
Best things in the morning. Cigar toilet and games on phone. I like this channel i do some of the exercise. But at least im honest. P.S. love your voice. Keep up the good work.
0:20 ayyyy uncle ringtones we now know why this guy is on that high level ❤✅
Easy to forget these thing. Thanks 4 da reminders and good vibes. 🌹🌯🧡
I love it brother. Great routine. Stay enjoying life
0:21 then there’s the apple alarm that gives you a heart attack
Hahaha does it wake you up faster?
@@HybridCalisthenics be honest, that ringtone can be dreadful sometimes.
Any rigntone can be dreadful if you don't want to wake up (speaking from personal experience)😓
@@HybridCalisthenics it does but not in a happy way 😭😭
