I bit my nails for decades until I discovered this channel. I was a cuticle cutter out of total ignorance about proximal nail fold. Implementing Anna's instructions made vast improvement and made the nail folds healthy. Then adding more animal fat and protein to my diet got the nail beds lengthening. Finally adding a little iron made nails incredibly strong. During the process which took several months, I completely lost any urge to bite my nails.
Congratulations on a massive achievement. Whilst it must have been incredibly hard to change a life time habit, your lovely nails & hands are now testament to that hard work 😊❤
Yes! Oh, Anna this is the icing on the cake (unless you don’t like icing)! You have been busy changing people’s lives…so cool thank you for all you do❤🌸V
Wow, that client must feel like she has new hands!!!! I have been watching your channel a little over a year now and I am so much happier with my hands and nails too. ❤❤
What an improvement, so well done by that client! I wore acrylics for years and begin '22 I wanted to see my own nails to become healthy and fresh/nice looking myself. Taking the acrylics off left me with damaged nails and I knew it would take some serious time. At first I did the things that are wrong... I didn't know of this channel yet, but I used nail hardeners and polish etc. but the nails kept breaking and splitting. Then I discovered your channel and I saw that the most important thing is to keep the nails and nailbed moisturized because this gives elasticity... and nails that are too hard are not elastic and break as well. Long story short: I started moisturizing my nails and nailbed, I didn't use polish and just within a few weeks my nails looked so much more healthy. The natural color, the skin around the nails... although nails were still short they looked so nice. Now they have a little length and I'm so happy with it. Every morning and before going to bed I rubb some castor oil into the skin around and on the nails, I just fit this in my day/night routine. Thanks for all the info/video's, love to learn and watch , your great!
I am so proud of you! I nail bit until I was graduating high school. Anxiety is so often the caralyst. Watching Salon Life has totally changed my manicures, polish application, everything nail-wise! Keep up the excellent nail care! Karen in East Tennessee
Congratulations to the client!!🎉 Just a quick info for people who are struggling to stop nail biting. Sometimes there is another issue beneath the biting. I was trying to stop biting for 18 years (started as a child). If I really focused on not biting and taking care of them I managed to grow them but as soon as something else needed my attention I started again. I've never managed to stop the habit for more then 2-3 month. Recently I was diagnosed with ADHD and I get medication now. Nail biting is history now. No urge to do it. Inner calmness hello. I didn't expect that because I didn't link the nail biting to ADHD. I seeked professional help for a bunch of other reasons. But it is a nice side effect to be able to stop the biting. I image that other conditions like anxiety, autism, OCD, ... can lead to nail biting as well. And treating those conditions probably makes it a lot easier to stop biting nails than just to try to stop it. It can be just a bad habit but it can also be a symptom of something else that needs to be adressed.
I just wanna thank you so mich for your videos. I was always very insecure about my hands, because some of my nails were growing really uneven. I stumbled across your channel in march and i have learned so much about nails and how to file them correctly. The changes are insane already
When I was young I had terribly sensitive/reactive skin and Vaseline was the only thing that calmed down my intense flare ups and helped my skin to heal. Slather on a thick layer at night and there’d literally be noticeable improvement by morning. I know the idea is that Vaseline is too occlusive and clogs pores, but it’s literally the only thing that gave the red raw skin on my face any respite. When I gently washed it off in the morning, the dry flakes of those red, raw areas were softened enough to be very gently exfoliated. So while Vaseline can clog pores, if used strategically it actually helped me to do the opposite. To prevent clogged pores because the softening from the Vaseline allowed those damaged dry flakes to be exfoliated instead of building up on my face and trapping in oil that my skin is inevitably overproducing to try heal the damage of the flare up. Almost like a debridement of the dead flaky skin to make way for the new healthier skin cells to replace them. When the barrier layer of your skin is damaged you need to find something that can act as a sort of replacement barrier to give your skin a break from working overtime to try its best to repair it. Because if you’re not exfoliating the old damaged flakes and some of the overproduction of your skins natural oils and skin cells that is trying to replace & repair the damage, it’ll ALL build up on the top layer of your skin and cause other problems you don’t want. Like clogged pores, which leads to acne. And trying to exfoliate red raw angry spots without trying to calm the, so how first is really painful and will likely scar up your face 😩 Doing it my way left my face with zero scarring, after dealing with YEARS of red raw angry flare ups, so bad they almost looked like chemical burns. I still don’t know exactly what was causing those horrible reactions, but even stuff marketed for sensitive skin caused it. I had a hell of a time as a teenager trying to find products my skin actually liked and then praying the manufacturer wouldn’t discontinue what was working for me, which happened far too often. I seriously don’t miss those days. Anyway, long winded way of saying YES!! Slug those damaged, dry, cracking fingertips! It’ll be one of the steps that provides you noticeable results fairly quickly, honestly faster than most anything else. I do like Cicaplast Balm B5 by LaRoche Poset too. While it’s not derived from petroleum, that stuff is almost like diaper rash cream, but it’s so occlusive and gentle that my skin really loves it when it’s struggling with dryness. At 50, I’m not dealing with sensitivity/reactivity nearly like I did when I was young but this stuff helps tremendously whenever I do use a new product the skin on my face doesn’t agree with. If it’s really bad, I turn to creamy Vaseline or Aquafor as my first line of defense and I always will. However, if it’s not really bad or when I can see a formerly really bad spot turning from angry to healing, I can switch to Cicaplast Balm B5 to complete the healing process. And my skin loves it ♥️
Absolutely fantastic progress & achievement!!! Well done! 👏🏻🙌🏻 I used to bite my nails when I was a little girl, they probably looked very similar to your client's. I'm not sure what made me decide to stop biting them, but biting & picking at my skin is now the problem instead. You are so right about perfectionists! I'm so glad you mentioned this! I have OCD & the more stressed or anxious I am, the more I feel & pick at my skin to make them perfect. Of course what actually happens is that they get sore, uneven, bleed & then I spend a wk or more trying to heal them! Sometimes wearing gloves is the only way to stop the picking 😔

Now I've cutted my nails and yeah they're short but still much better than before. I'm broke nd can not use high end products. But I'll use your advice. I've been biting my nails since childhood. 20 years u know is a long time. But I'll do my best.
Is the lengh of the nailbed genetically determined? In my family, even if there is a white edge on the nail it is not longer than the fingertip. The woman in the video has almost no white edge on her nails but her nails still reach the edge of her fingertip.

Wow looks amazing! I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and since then have watched your videos in repeat! :) I have a question regarding the skin healing process. For decades I’ve peeled the dry skin around my nails. I’m on my skin healing journey now because of your videos. The skin is starting to get dry around the nail and areas where I’m wanting to peel off. Should I leave and continue with the oil soaks/kerasil etc? And leave the skin alone or does the dead skin need to be removed? It’s hard not to want to peel it all over again
Hello Deanna, dead skin is what protects the living skin. The key is to have a healthy skin barrier and that takes time. Peeling is not going to fix dry skin. Gentle skin care is a must. Kerasal will exfoliate the skin gently. Let the skin be. When you feel like peeing rub in some cream or oil. That will soften the skin. Vaseline is great too.

I did not only bite my nails but I also chewed the skin on the side of my nails (and more on one side), many of my nail beds are now asymmetrical. The white part of the nail starts deeper on one side than on the other. I have probably damaged the nail wall on one side of each nail. Is this something that can still improve or is it likely to stay that way? When I file the nails, should I follow the course of the nail bed, even if the nails then look crooked? Or should I leave more white on one side so that the nail looks more symmetrical and straighter overall?
Wish my nails were that length on the skin itself, not off the nail...I have always had tiny nails, antytime I try to get them longer I usually use Sally Hansen nail growth polish in clear. The polish does work but the nail is longer off the finger rather than most of my nail being longer on the skin area. So after about a wk maybe 2 of using the polish, my nails get longer, then they start getting dirt under them, the nail file cant get the dirt out from under the nail, not even soaking my nails in hot soapy water helps so I then chew them off down to little nails. Last night I had been doing dishes, rammed my one nail into a dish causing my nail to crack, so I really started looking at where the crack was. I found it, pulled the nail off, now I have the tiniest nails I have ever had since I chewed off most of my nails that were longer. They sure hurt, they are so sore.
I have thick skin around my nails but I do not bite them, i've never bitten my nails. It's really frustrating because I have no idea what's causing it.
