Not a legend, a psycolath that decided to make himself look repulsive, as well as sacrifice his arm for the vast majority of his life for some attention and a record

Y’all are taking about the wasted potential, meanwhile I can’t stop thinking about how this is what we humans can grow as if we don’t groom ourselves…Can you imagine aliens coming to earth and seeing a person with full body/head hair, nails, and wild teeth and thinking it is what we look like? To the core, we have the potential to look like completely different creatures.
Yeah but thatd come with alot of its own problems, the reason there's an ideal average image of a human being, male or female, is because that person's making themselves be the best they can be.
mmm yeah but his nails grew this long cus he didnt use the hand, nails are suppose to break off short when we use them, like cats use scratching posts. so even if we were living completely wild with no beauty or hygiene standards, i recon our nails would naturally stay short
@@megallow1434 I agree with this, but what about hair? I never really though about it, but how would early humans cut their hair, or would it stop growing or somehow be trimmed naturally?
The dollar amount he received for those nails is probably dwarfed by the income a museum will get in return. What a painful way to live 66 years of one’s only life.
This poor guy wasn’t able to really live his life because of this choice. And because of his choice others had to be affected by it too. I feel bad for his family.
@ I’m not sure what that means to have trauma from not having long fingernails. I understand that victims of abuse can have disorders like hoarding for instance. Maybe his growing of those nails was a stress response. Regardless, His family should have helped him get help I guess. But the fact remains that he had to have help with everything in life because of those fingernails. It did impact everyone around him. He chose for them to serve him. Technically, he chose his fingernails first over his family….. that’s neglectful of their needs and disregards them. Very sad .
Yall are trolling him, but did u realize that there are ppl in west who modify their body! Even tattooing is bad in this sense. Doesn't it give you pain?

An action that controlled his life for 60+ years based on trauma and the refusal to look at oneself and heal from it. This is what you don't do. Don't let things get this bad.
Dear Mr. armchair psychologist, sure it might have started as a trauma thing but it certainly wasn't the trauma that kept him at it, and he seemed to be pretty content despite the difficulties he experienced as a result. I think it was eventually that he was more proud of how long he'd managed to grow them than anything.

These nails definitely need to get preserved in epoxy and placed in a museum somewhere. The dedication and uniqueness of it all make it worthy of having a spot on human history.
This man is the very reason why no one should waste the one life we have. Everyday you wake up should be a day of self discovery, connections, exploration and to admire the beauty around.
I come back to this video every once in a while. I think it fascinates me because I’m watching something that makes me genuinely emotional, but what he’s done is completely unrelatable as a physical action. I will never know what it’s like to cut off 60+ years of nail growth, but I can also see how monumental it is. This man has led a fascinating life, even if I don’t know much about it beyond what was said in the video. I feel like there’s more to the story when it comes to the beating that led to his decision, but I guess there’s always more to the story when you’re a human being. His nails are like the physical manifestation of “everyone you know is fighting their own battle.” Navigating life physically was challenging enough, but in order to keep these nails you’d have to be making the same decision every day-even subconsciously. The fact that he finally made the decision to cut them is just so compelling in that regard.
66 years of his life, damage to social circles, family circles, thousands if not hundreds of thousands missed opportunities to experience so many things, mangled hand. All for his name to go into some book and an 8 minute TH-cam video that won't even mention his name in title or video itself.
@@anasshaaban2087 You say that in attempt to defend him, and aye, that's the reason he started it. But the alternative that he grew his nails for so long to prove his childhood teacher wrong or something, makes him possibly the most petty, vindictive and outright insane person I can imagine. To waste your entire existence to be able to say "Ha, I proved you wrong" is just ludicrous. That's why I prefer to think that he continued to grow those wolverine claws because he liked the attention (as he himself mentioned) and he wanted this record. @Decaying Corpse but the man Is happy and proud of himself and u just are the typical edgy mainstream archetype,at least the idiot of the nails is original
Not to sound judgemental but this guy had everything on his side but he threw everything aside just for his nails. On the other hand there are people who are disabled, blind or young children who suffer from incurable diseases yet achieve world records by doing higher education or PHD. That sounds more inspirational.
@@nasreen7043 I've had that same feeling when I was diagnosed with ADHD in my late 20s and got on medication. A combination of regret at having wasted so much of my life, an odd sense of loss, overwhelming relief, and a feeling of excitement for what I would be able to accomplish with that treatment.
I feel like he started it off as a joke and wanted to see how long it would go for, but then it caused some not so great things in his life to happen. So he figured well these long nails got me into this mess so I mine as well keep growing them or else all the time with them would have been wasted. So he had them growing for so long that he couldn’t get rid of them since they caused so much inconvenience in his life, but they caused so much inconvenience in his life that he had to let them keep growing or else it was all or nothing and he wasted his life. So, really, this man trapped himself in a negative feedback loop.
I'm a person with some handicap, I can't understand why this man chose to have this disability and the worse part on my point of view: as a challenge for a simple event! Each one decide the way to be happy 🤷🏻♀️
Same for me, just can't understand how healthy people can make their lives so complicated for nothing. I mean a world record, wow, that was worth it...meanwhile we are suffering each day without being responsive for that
He absolutely does. Especially after cutting the nails and not getting weird stares, there is nothing left defining his existence, there's nothing else he achieved that he can be proud and content with.
I also had the same thought that regret at this stage of life would be difficult. At first glance I was excited for he is speaking my native language Marathi.
I see a lot of comments about how he ruined his life trying to prove a point to his teacher but I think it’s more than that Maybe that’s what it was at first but as time passes, you become more and more reluctant to let go of something you’ve spent so much effort on and after a while it becomes a part of you He choose to do this and he didn’t cut them now because he wanted to move his hand, he did it because they were brittle due to age and he thought it would be better to preserve them. People here are criticising his life choices but it’s his life and he did what he wanted to If he regretted it then he could’ve stopped at any time but he didn’t.
agree dont let other people bother you on achieving your goal . We are different some people want to be famous and some people want a silent life . Some people want to keep hating and critisizing and some people want to respect and give love to others . If we dont like something about the others lets just not talk bad to them , Cause by doing that we are only making our self the one who look bad .
Yes I too think so later in his life he just got used to it and ignored everyone I think his grand kids or maybe in future someone from his generation will have that kind of soul to never give up and will achieve something big
People "criticize" him because he not only messed up his hand for the remainder of his life, he also missed out on SO many things because he grew out his nails. He messed up relationships and friendships because of it. For a couple of videos and people talking about him for 5 minutes. Do you know how many other things he could've done to get attention? That wouldn't have stopped him from doing exciting fun things he'll never be able to do now? People aren't being rude to be mean, its because the thought of someone throwing away so many life experiences is kind of sad.
