a few years ago I hired a taxi , a 1953 Chev.in Cuba. I could see the road through the floor and the steering wheel was a work of art. The original had broken so a new one was fashioned out of wood, just like on the Barrel cars. Another taxi had a Diesel boat motor in it, a 1954 Ford. You make do with what you can get.
@@deathwrenchcustom It's for a car. It's made by a company called 'Grant'. It's actually hard plastic, but there are actual wood ones made by 'Raptor'.
Fitted with a battery and an electric engine they would be perfect to hop in and go for a shopping trip to the local supermarket or to get your take away. Amazing design...
@@corymcgrath5652 I wonder if enough people said enough is enough...stopped buying these rediculous over prices pieces of crap and enormously high insurance rates and just started making our own vehicle's out of recycled materials like bamboo shoots and bicycles that nobody wants anymore,...lawn mowers that are thrown away as soon as they run out of gas...or need a tune up...🤔 Well what could they do if everyone stopped playing the game.
Another example of Thai creativity and freedom (in some areas). Looks really fun. But...I saw a brake pedal but I didn't see any brakes! Clearly none in the front, probably one single disk on the rear axle. Thanks for sharing.
It might be "legal" in a golf cart community in Florida, they put tags on golf carts, BUT no way on regular roads due to crash safety, emissions, brake and suspension requirements. Even if you got a vintage motor and built a replica "Sears Buck Board" I don't think you'd be welcome in traffic.
was that close to my favourite market there? if yes I should maybe consider to come to Thailand and live there on the market. Seems you have enough oil drums there, and an oil drum is for sure as good as the drum of Diogenes, that good old Greek philosopher ;-)
Paul, I did a google image search and could not find anybody else making powered barrel cars, only kids pedal cars from barrels, you ought to buy one and make some videos with it. I bet they would go viral.
No diff so should be interesting around roundabouts. No suspension so best to avoid potholes. Single brake on the back axle so brake early. Racing them around a dirt track might be fun lol.

Absolutely Bitchin'. Cool ass hell, fun as hell. It's a motorcycle for those that are a little wobbly after a night out. A great little runner for quick trips. Wish you could drive something like that on the road here in the States (legally) but I know the regulations would kill the project.
in the right state, it would be do-able. You'd be best to start with an actual car, use all its drivetrain components and firewall, then license as a modified or kit car.
I'm not sure about that. There are states where ATVs and side by sides are road legal and you can register a low power vehicle like those tiny electric cars from China as long as they are under a certain HP limit.

I love the oil drum design. It gives them this 1930's vintage racer look to them. So cool!
the 30's Car were made this small because of the Gas Crisis .. like humm right now its 1.50/ L this summer it might be 2$/L
I am currently building a Go kart. THIS IS A GREAT IDEA. I'm going to try it.
THAT CARVED WOOD STEERING WHEEL IS A WORK OF ART!
The whole bloody thing is a work of art! Exquisite workmanship and attention to detail. 👍👍👍

That is one of the coolest things i have ever seen.Simple but amazing
The levels of design and pure craftsmanship are awesome. This guy should be building Formula One cars.
Kind of reminds me of the race cars they used to build out of WW2 aircraft drop tanks here in the US.
they made canoes out of them over here .
You're absolutely right - those are freaking cool!!! Thanks for posting.
Those vehicles are fantastic! The barrel is the best for aerodynamics, and the bucket in front is safety crash zone.
The bucket in the front like punches a hole in the air because it's flat so as far as they were Dynamics work that's still a good thing
just proves... a gear head can be found anywhere! way cool.
That beautiful wood steering wheel is something else.
That’s exactly what I noticed. ✌️
Go carts wrapped with a barrel. Pretty cool.
Great little cars... very nicely done and love those steering wheels!

Those are so neat. I want one!
Thanks for posting this! Got to be fun.
The workmanship, fit and finish are amazing. The guy's a genius! Does he ship to Canada?
I was thinking the same thing, then I remembered this is Canada, we would never be allowed to drive these unique rides because of our safety and all.

Wow these oil drum cars are so cool! Thanks for the upload!
This is the most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time
Love them! They remind me of home made vintage racing cars. I wanna see them race.
Grass roots creativity. Very cool
Those are wild! I have to build one of my own.
I'm dad made my brother and I oil drum go kart 35 years ago, we had a blast, my brother still has it for his kids now.
They look so attractive too. The maker(s) did a great job on the aesthetics.
I've always been an admirer of oil drum design, glad to see it getting more exposure..
Those are cool I was laughing with you
So very cool, thanks for showing it!

I'm checking the Canadian import rules ...
When I was in Thailand I saw some very creative things. The Thai people are very good at creating.
Ultra cool .
That is creative thinking all the way
Pity they aren't being sold in the USA. I'm sure it wouldn't be street legal, but it would be so much fun to drive.
@crash burn it has one wheel too many. Vehicles registered as a motorcycle are two or three wheeled.
A barrel of laughs?

There is suspension in front of the engine, you just get a glimpse of it @ 1:12 mark, you can see a spring coil over shock.
The rear has suspension as well. Note the swing arm type application. Hinged just after rear of seat.
