More tuning videos like This! Even though I didn’t click on this video to learn about tuning for an exhaust, I still got a better understanding of MAF tuning, just by you explaining it a dofferent way. Huge help! Really appreciate your tuning videos!

I always love the tune vids, anytime you are thinking of a new video to make in the garage on cold days I think people including me, would like to see before and after logs from a mod or 2, then the difference In the tune for back to back comparisons, to help guys figure out what to look for in different situations, keep them coming bro
Does running lean cause knock? Love the video. I'm glad I sent my tuner a datalog after my exhaust upgrade. I noticed a huge increase in fuel efficiency as well. 😮
Thanks for clarifying what old skool car mechanics have been saying for decades. You can't just change the airflow on the car whether it be the air intake or exhaust and expect it to run the same or better than before. More often than not, this ruins the performance of your car as the cars sensors and modules are programmed to the oem mechanical setup and changing just one thing throws the whole thing outa wack. If your ever going to mod the exhaust or air intake, ect; It is best that you consult with a professional mechanic or performance shop that can properly tune the vehicle to accept these changes.
speaking of exhaust tuning, I would really appreciate just a short video on what parameters to change and log when installing long tubes with respect to the O2 sensors, for example the delay that tells the computer how long an exhaust pulse takes to reach the sensor and stuff like that. specifically for 4th gens in my case.
I have a 565 8-71 blown big block twin 850 carbs. Everything was tuned pretty good, on the fat side… Exhaust was just two straight pipes with mufflers turned out in front of the rear tires. I just this week changed the exhaust system to a Frankenstein Design, which is me lol. It’s now 3.5” pipe, straight through bullets, into a Y-pipe that’s 5” out. Guess what happened next lol. Fire it up and it’s rolling coal. Literally sucking fuel though the engine due to the increased scavenging. Old system was 3” no crossovers at all… Fat as a diesel at idle and runs lean up top… So basically I need to add fuel jet. Obviously due to the increase in exhaust airflow, the old system may not have been a restriction, but wasn’t doing a good job of being a vacuum… Like with efi, typical a high flow exhaust causes a lean condition… especially if it’s a turbo deal… Due to the ecu not being able to compensate… depending on the factory fuel table parameters, and closed loop compensation limits…
I have a 23 titan pro 4x i installed a cat back exhaust from z1 off road and i feel like my transmission is acting up especially downshifting not sure if its just a coincidence or could the exhaust effect the transmission
Great video exactly what I was looking for. I have c6 ZR1 it had some mods on it like 14% lower pulley, intake, bullet mufflers, stock cats, stock headers and it was tuned. I remember it being fast. So I blew the honey comb of the cats out the exhaust at the track. I figured I’d go cat delete and long tube headers since I had to replace the cats. Well I haven’t re tuned it yet. I feel like the car runs way slower. I’ve been postponing a re tune because I’m going e85, injectors, axle back exhaust and tuning will take place then. But I guess my question is would you say without a shadow of doubt the cat delete and long tube headers got the previous tune out of whack? And is it dangerous to race it under this condition? Thanks
I DO NOT have a tune on my 2014 f150 xlt. But a buddy of mine gave me a new air intake and a rosh cat back system. It’s been running fine for a month but now I’m throwing “ too rich” in bank 1 and 2. I cleaned the air filter, sprayed the MAF sensor it’s clean. Do I need to tune my truck? The only reason I put those things in is because they where brand new in box for free. Ideas?? Do I replace my o2 sensors?
If i have revised my tune up to the downpipe with high flow cat..does adding the cat back need a revised tune? Went from 2 1/4” with 2” sections res/muffler to 2 1/2 with no res and less restrictive muffler.
Gen v camaro l99 LT offoroad borla atak and a cai. I’m doing the tuning like this and I want to add a wet nitrous kit up to 200 has flex fuel do I have enough room to do that with stock injectors and fuel pump?
Because of the rusting with the salt up here in NY. Stuff falls off I add or remove things to get it running somewhat correctly. And sounding right. Sorry lived is south for 40 years so my truck has to be loud. Lmao
Wash my truck all the time. Underneath too. 2 years is all I got out of stainless and the set of glass packs that was installed with them. Rusted to pieces and fell off.
if i had done an exhaust cut out after highflow cats and before the resonator and muffler, would I be able to have a way to change the tune on the fly on the road per say some how? if i were to open the exhaust cut out.(fully straight piped) then close them so then the exhaust will be going through the resonator and muffler. or is this a dangerous senario.
Hey Kyle, love this stuff man! Any suggestions on tuning long tubes for closed loop with stock o2s and getting knock under control with the gen 4 platforms? Struggled to maintain decent timing after pulling some to get a baseline without getting into knock with maf only, n now im into ve tables and moving towards CL but i keep dealing with random KR that was never present pre long tubes. Just a thought for a video, hpt forums have mushed that dead horse with everyone talking in circles on the topic
Also on this 2000 chevy Silverado 1500 it has a check engine light on. It is saying "no communication to both upstream O2 sensor". I replaced both upstream O2 sensor with some new Chinese sensors and it is still showing no communication. Where do I need to look for the problem? Or could it be the Chinese O2 sensors are junk
If I was to join in your membership for the 1.99/month. Does that give direct access to you in regards of tuning? I.e. faster response times to questions, concerns and so on? I believe you're videos and tutorials are well worth the 1.99 a month. I have learned more from you then any other tuner posting online. You're very easy to learn from. Anyways, I was just wondering how paying a premium would be of more beneficial to me?
Absolutely. Unless you know for sure it was tuned for those mods, it will Absolutely make an improvement. Hell, even in stock trim there's a benefit to a tune, though obviously the benefit increases with mods. Factory fuel correction can only do so much...
Yeah I can’t do this stuff. My head is swimming with all those big words. Anybody out there know someone that can tune my LS engine for headers and a cam?

glad I watched this I was thinking of doing a muffler delete and now I know I need a tune afterward for it.

Nice, thx for the recap
What about completely stock everything ; to adding a catback . Still stock catalyst, just a catback exhaust. Do you think it would affect the map ?
Nah you are good

My stock tune was factory commanded super rich, probably for this reason.

Can I tune my 97 f150 4.6 v8 on stock ecm. Upgrades it has are cold air intake, throttle body spacer and short high flow headers no cats no muffler??
another good reason to have a wideband permanently mounted in your car

Ever hear of stainless steel?
The amount of crap on the roads here even stainless rots off. I paid $400 for a set of pipes welded on at a shop 4 years ago. They lasted 2 years.
Sure you could get 10 years out of a set of stainless pipes. I live in Wisconsin I'm no stranger to salt

My c6z06 supercharged ysi vortech at cruise on hige way 60mph the Long fuel trims left bank 6.5+ and right bank 4.5+ is that ok and has new tune.
Hi can you do remote tune? Without wide band?
I installed an exhaust that is larger than stock from muffler back. Could that cause the P2096 lean code?
With changing from short tube with cats to long tube and no cats should I really get a tune
