    In Econ 101 I learned the concept of "psychic income" which implies that a rational person *always* acts from self interest.

    Let's take this further, if the purple people only seem to want to be purple when under threat are they altruistic or pugnacious? And if Bob wanted to fight the green people to protect the purple ones his actions were fueling more hatred to the purple people is he selfish? Extremely altruistic? This is where Zizek's employment of "surplus enjoyment" is very valuable
