My friends at banggood.com sent me out the kit version of the WPL 16th scale crawlers. I was planning to use it to upgrade my RTR version but things never go quite as planned. With the steering servo you can drill a few holes in the plate around it and lace a few zip ties in to hold it securely.
Soak in really warm water. You can bend the body back into shape....

Theres a 1982 one of those in full size stored in the garage here, with a factory c class camper. Cold AC, hot showering capabilities.
Thingiverse has the 3d file for this machine if anyone is interested in printing up copies, so now theres 2 smaller Toyota Hilux model pickups parked here as a result of that. None of the 3 have any rust. Scores.
There is a guy that did a video on the steering servo setup I can't remember who it was I will try to find it and put it in the comments here. you CAN use the hobby grade Servo with the toy grade receiver board... But it will not be able to self Center. Take apart the servo and remove the control board and potentiometer, then hook steering wires from stock circuit board directly to positive and negative on Servo motor. I just used some ultra thin double-sided sticky tape to mount my hobby grade Servo down and it does just fine. As far as the servo horn issue connecting to the stock steering link... You can use the provided hardware and grommets that come in the bag with the servo horns. Stuff the little black grommet into the large eyelet on the steering link then insert the thin brass bushing. The long pointy provided screw fits perfect through the bushing and you can put a spacer behind it, I just used the extra rubber grommet
It dose come with a better servo than the rtr vershion. Im using a flysky reciever and 20 amp speedcontroler. Plus a losi micro t 7.4 lipo battery. I hope your project goes well👍👍
The esc barrage 1:24 scale truck uses a 2in one esc receiver thin and it might be just what your looking for

small 10amp speed controller from Ebay £10 use the 6v battery from kit its what I'm using in mine and had no problems yet

I bought the kit version that include better servo, soft tire compound and stronger engine its really fun. 20amp esc with 2s lipo battery, Im looking for new radio, transmitter and metal gear upgrade!

Them stripe colors look more original or authentic. Been thinking of buying one and keeping it till my great nephew is older. He can run his alongside my deadbolt.
The RTR motor is 130 size, kit has 180, heaps better torque. Cheap $5 esc works fine, as does $10 larger scale generic ESC. Nearly everyone gets a crumpled WPL box, thankfully my contents were ok.
I have ordered a cheap esc, all you guys have given me hope the little thing can make it, lol

Sucks it's not drivable rite off the bat. By the time you do all the upgrades you could get 1 of the rc4wd 1/18 scale rigs. Bummer man

1.0 you can get some rc 4wd from amazon for 7 to 12 bucks
order from china and get a free durability test. I too have got boxes damaged as well from chinese suppliers.
Wouldn't have done you any good if the connection was the correct one, the controller isn't proportional.
Very cool can you get remote locker diffs?
Im not sure, they do have all aluminum axles for it with metal gears now, and I have seen a 2 speed transmission as well.

I don’t. I’m not very up to date on things this scale. I know a lot of places have started selling hop up parts for these now. You might check banggood.

Both axles are locked diffs. It is all plastic geared though and not very durable.

I was gonna make a FAST running 🏃 DAKAR racing truck 🚚. So, I need unlock 🔓 ed diff so that it keeps running 🏃 if no pick ⛏️ up is given. This one wld tip bcoz of hard breaking frm th locked differential. I need a free differential truck 🚚. Dakar unimog truck 🚚 runs crazy fast.
Last thing to ask : if u push the truck 🚚 with yr hand ✋ with no power 💪 connected, does it freely move? Tht means unlocked differential.

Lol. The shocks are. Irving but spring holders. But now there is a ton of aftermarket parts for this thing. I’ve seen everything from aluminum shocks to axles and gear boxes.
