Grafting a mustang front clip and suspension to my 60 Mercury Monterey and will be using the electric steering rack. Hot wire auto in Mena, AR. is building my harness for the coyote engine and trans. We were discussing if we needed anything special to run the rack, but after watching your video, it looks like no problem. Great video, thanks.
Looking to add one of these to my Town Car, I've had 4 power steering pump failures in the 2 years i've owned it, some due to leaks others to overheating.
I’m doing this in a 99 f150 and was wondering if it’s different than the Volvo EPS wiring (have that on another couple cars, works really well if the stock steering is simpler to work with) where you hot up one terminal on the small plug and bam you have EPS. It seems they have it just hooked up like that in the truck without the engine. I don’t understand the justification of the 300+ dollar boxes if that’s all they are doing but fancier.
What did you guys do to hot up the rack? The Volvo hydro pumps use one of the small connector wires to hot to turn it on. I can’t see the wiring on the truck without the motor. EDIT:duh I should have finished watching… Thank you for clearing that bit of info up! Looking forward to getting the rack in the truck (1999 f150 swap!) Separate question: Did you use AN lines beforehand on the hydro rack? Which brand fittings/hose did you use on the pressure side?
very very interesting. i have an 08 crown vic p71. this is looking like a very possible swap for me. one issue is the drive belt. not sure on how it would be shortened or? if you can get back to us thatd be awesome!
I have a 09 p71. Go to autozone, buy 650k6 belt. It is 65 inches long and 6 ribbed, costs like 20 bucks. You route it the same as OEM, except you bypass the power steering pulley.
Nice! What year is the rack from? I'd like to get ride of my manual box on my 59 Galaxie, and put an electric rack in. I think a rack would fit well with the front sump FE.
I have a 03'Vic. Does the rack hook right up to the steering shaft? Do you know if the steering shaft has to be modified? It's funny. I seen a guy do this in a older s197 and it got me thinking if it would work in the Vics. Then this video pops up a week later lol.
Would that work if I put a n ignition activated relay between the rack power and the battery so I could ensure its only powered on when the ignition is on? I'm thinking of trying to put an S550 Rack on a 2008 Mustang
This unit may be too big for my car. I am looking to add to a 1965 Corvair. How do you defeat the computer I/O board? Does anyone make a rack and pinion that is purely Power On/Power off with key?

Yes, multiple coyote swapped trucks have my kit in it. Like I said in video though, you need a remote mount oil filter setup. It does not fit with stock filter housing, no matter what filter.
@@eimaiakominzontanos Maybe. I have cracked the can bus for the Mustang steering racks to put them in sport mode. I'm using them in my S197 Mustang Tesla builds.

Just wondering why you can't run stock Mustang tie rods?
Odd question but I assume a 130 amp single wire alternator is a large enough to support the electric rack on a F100 conversion?

What is the CAN bus messaging needed to activate this mustang rack? I have an EPAS rack out of F150 and it is probably similiar

you can replace the pulley for the power steering pump with a dead pulley just to occupy the leftover space, so you don't have to mess with the belt

Can you make a kit, mount to bolt into a second gen Camaro ('78)? I could definitely use a system like this for my car.

Do you remove the ps pump and have to get a smaller belt just curious you didn't address what you have to do with that side of it
maybe he runs the og pump but disconnects it? not sure either. work like to see an answer
@6lik6 I ended up getting a ps delete plate that just has a pull.on it the Mustang drift guy uses them Mentioned to him

So what are using to send can bus to make it come on or does it just go into default mode when given 12 volts?
it sounds like it's just going into some kind of limp home mode when it doesn't see a can signal.

Do you have and adapter kit for an 83 ford f100 with the twin i beam suspension? I'm not gonna covert to crown vic IFS.
