Great job explaining how to use a ruler. As a fifth grade teacher, I can honestly say this is spot on...nice to show my students a video that does a great job (another person explaining something keeps things fresh and new).

thankyou this helped alot. i was kinda confused so i googled how to use a ruler. I thought it was a stupid question but I needed to understand how to read the inches on a ruler. I always thought 5 and 1/2 inches would be 5 inch plus the 5th tallie mark or 5 inch plus the longest tallie between the 5 and 6 but I Just now realized the number didnt add up to 5.5 (5 and 1/2) which was why I looked up this question lol

What is 6.6 in ruler
Customary Rulers normally don't have decimal markings. Instead, they use divisions of 2 (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16) with descending marks for each level (tallest mark for the inches, a shorter mark for the halves, a still shorter mark for the quarters, and so on).

i have been a contractor for 30 years, i have taught countless grown men and women how to read a tape. having to teach my daughter i figured i would find a more kid friendly way to aproach this, she is 9 years old, so i found this video. i wish i had access to this video on my jobsites. we would count it as training.

I dont get it is it base 10 like cm im european we inches but my tape measure for fashion only does inches is it base 15(15 smaller measurements for every inch eg 10mm for every 1cm ect)
