I hear you man, this music and all great music is about celebrating life and being thankful for this opportunity we're given, it brings out spirituality and that goes beyond every religion in my opinion, it connects all us humans
I didn't know this came out 2 years ago. Wow!!! What a amazing church service. I needed this more.than you guys know. Thank you Apogee for sharing and making this happen. What a blessing!!!!
My church , as so many churches today, has gone more contemporary BUT TRADITIONAL GOSPEL IS CHURCH TO ME. There’s a sound in traditional that makes you FEEL SOMETHING DEEP DOWN ON THE INSIDE!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!
Starting at 12:15 the Clark sisters song. This is genius to turn it into probably tone of the best jazz organ songs of all time . Pay attention to how taron is reacting to Cory too. A
I grew up in an inner city church and only 4 decades later it's truly representative of the area, well actually probably over 60% black, but more African as well as Jamaican now. I actually left over 25 years ago to start my own journey away from being the 'son of'. At the time Jamaicans represented about 10% but I truly benefited. There is something about black folks that connect on an emotional level with worship. I think us white folks were always afraid of getting too out of control. It helped being in a Pentecostal church I joined a cell church inner city plant and we again had Nigerian, Jamaican . I lived with a Nigerian for a couple of years and that started my journey of love for African music.Salif Keita 'Soro' was the first African Album I heard and I was blown away. I had the privilege of being pulled up on stage by the man himself at The London Festival Hall. I will always remember him stopping the music and getting people to dance - Another one of my gripes is why is there no dancing in church. In the 80s we had what we coined the Pentecostal hop. What's wrong with us white folk. I know going back years dancing was deemed to be of the devil. I wish there was more integration in churches.
Inspiring! God has graced this planet with Cory Henry. It appears every cell in his body is part of the total instrument he demonstrates music perfection. ( Also... a big shout out to TaRon who's in at the top of my favourite drummers! ❤ ). Wonderful Session Guys!
Cory Henry in an "intellectual outfit" - fits him well, somehow distant associations with Brian Blade come up... ;-) Thanks for the great music - Cory Henry - so much soul and amazing musical craftsmanship...

Words cannot express what this performance has meant to me. I keep coming back to it and it gives me more every time. Thank you Cory for the never-ending inspiration and soul healing.
"Unclouded Day" was my daddy's favorite song. He's been gone for 30 years, and I felt the essence of his life flash before me as you sang and played this song. Thank you for the walk down Memory Lane, Mr. Henry.
OMG Blessed Assurance 50:08 insane. I can't remember the last time I heard this. Probably 30 years ago. Hairs on the back of the neck. Probably need to hear this.
Yo yo yo STOP! Yeeessssssah! Holler-lujah, per RAISE thy Lord and GLOW-ry to the most High! Got me out her on my porch, with my speaker, enjoying your music so much Corey …I’m singing and dancing. Thanks for sharing your precious gift 🙏🏽🎵🎤🎹🥁 Didn’t have to do it but you did…thank you all👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you for presenting UNCLOUDY DAY in this recording. This is definitely the BEST rendition and recording of Oh, They Tell Me 🔥 🏆. Brings back some very precious memories👏
This is the first time I have seen this since I saw it live 3 years ago. Cory Henry is truly the gospel pianist of this generation. A huge inspiration behind a lot of the music I like to play.
I like how he kept it old scholl instead of doing the reharms jazz chords which he could have done,! I love him and his approach to playing such a genius. He seems to have perfect timing.
@@lizettesurgick9542 calm down extra saved lady. Im only referring to the drummer not knowing the beat to a congregational song. Never said he wasn't saved, or it was bad... if you do attend church, you should have smiled and liked my comment lol. God has a since of humor... lol
I had not heard of B Slade before (really?, no really). Pfff, what a voice. And what a combination with Cory and that drummer.... I recently started going to church again....
I'm an atheist, but I'm only a few minutes away from converting if I keep listening to this wonder!!

Shout out to Cory’s left leg for holding down that bass line.
