Something a bit different. I love this industry and this is something I'd been interested in for a long time as a big fan of the Kick Off in it's original conception. Fair play to Loz for being open to doing this and I think it's a fair appreciation and story for everyone involved.
Brilliant, fair open discussion wish every other channel in this space could be more like this and not have their own agendas and try to discredit other channels in this industry
As someone who’s spent 1000s of hours watching Mark, Brian (True Geordie) and Laurence, this was a brilliant podcast to hear. I think Laurence chose the right person to sit down and talk about it with. I hope Laurence and Brian can find a way back to each other, they were an unbeatable partnership when it comes to podcasting and streaming. Even if they don’t though, they’ve got an incredible back-catalogue of work that will stand the test of time, so thank you to both of them for giving us that over the years. ❤️
honestly Loz deseves better than Brian. Brian is genuinely a woman-hating idiot who doesn't want to change. Loz deserves a creative partner who is willing to grow with him, not one who is going to ruin his career with racism and misogyny.
People bashed Laurence when he was on the show, but Brian needed a foil. They’re just about as polar opposite as two guys can be while sharing interests, and that was the beauty of it.
This is what loz has needed for years, a mark that will undercut and talk over him respectfully to reign him in, this podcast is the most likeable hes been in years and years. Credit to loz for coming on and being as open but credit to mark for being blunt when needed, direct when needed, but at the same time, he clearly made loz comfortable
Laurence was 50% (minimum) of TG’s channel in my mind. The reason it worked so well is because they really bounced off each other, similar senses of humour but with different delivery. I’m not massively interested in watching either on their own tbh, but if they ever worked together again id be all over it
I appreciate that Loz was being EXTREMELY careful to make it clear that blame was shared, and that there were no real true bad guys in the situation, just a bad circumstance handled badly at a bad time by people who mostly meant well. It's probably why he got hammered so much as well - people perceived, rightly or wrongly, that he thinks very hard about what he says and does, so had a hard time believing he didn't just calculate that moving quickly on was (in his mind) the best chance of keeping everything from blowing up. Not that I think a throwaway wayward comment deserved a cancellation, it's not as if Brian was ever held up as some role model or paragon of normality. If a Blue Peter presenter can do lines off a turtle and still find work, a bit of Christian forgiveness towards TG wouldn't go amiss
I feel the same way to this. I really enjoy his solo videos. I like the way they're shot and the way he delivers the information... it's very unique and original within the football TH-cam space. But I hated the way he argued on the KickOff. Was very hypocritical at times. Enjoy this version of Loz for sure though.

When two great presenters collide! Instead of being a Lawrence McKenna interview we ended up with a simultaneous two way interview, great content guys.
True Geordie content hasn't been the same without Loz, TG now is all about conspiracy videos without any push back or a devil's advocate POV. Loz was the intellect or voice of reason in the duo.
I know what you mean but Brian's by no means stupid either. He just looks a bit stupid. The Joe Rogan effect. Definitely comfortably above average intelligence.
He's above average in iq, he's hardly a genius though. They're likely on a similar level in fact, just Lawrence likes to ridicule people a bit more. He's simply more conniving than the others were. That is not a sign of high intelligence. That is a sign of a disturbed mindset towards other people.

I listened to this video completely and I have seen Mark Goldbridge in a whole new light. His business mindset is why he is able to have such huge channels. The comments he made about certain “fan channels” going onto Sky etc. to be used for clips is very true. He forgot to mention certain fan channels who changed their ways so they can appease to these bigger corporations instead of being themselves. So sad.
Great discussion! One thing that really stood out to me was when Mark you talked about where football-related podcasts, videos and more are going. I agree with that and I'm tired of how many of the videos are something along the lines of "the most underrated 11" and I'm not personally interested in forced arguments created in the style of television, but real conversations between people without fake arguments and shouting
I don't think I've ever watched/listened to a podcast/interview before that was 90 minutes long and just flew by. That was incredible, and probably could have listened for another 90+minutes!
I've missed listening to Loz on a podcast. Just really appreciate the way he looks at things. The football space needs him and it's nice to see him making steps back into it.
Speaking from someone who doesn't watch, partake or even enjoy Football (and related content) I absolutely loved this pod and watched the whole thing intently. I love Laurence and was genuinely surprised to see his locks
I loved Brian and Laurence as a duo, and was so gutted when it all ended practically overnight. I’d literally pop a podcast on when I was overwhelmed, post-anxiety attack, or just looking for a mood boost. I’m happy - and thankful really - that we finally get an insight as to what happened. While we’re 100% not entitled to it, it’s nice to hear. It was honestly like an abrupt breakup without any closure😅 I really hope they’re both doing well; I owe them a lot of thanks and it would be amazing to thank them in person really.
Really enjoyed listening to this conversation and also to get proper actual insight into why the lads left the kick off. Also listening to loz is great because you can always learn something from him. Great stuff mark and great interview.
Wow this is crazy, I'm not into sports and never watched the Kick Off but used to really like watching Brian and Laurence on the True Geordie podcast and their vids together back in that era so it's really nice to see him pop up again! Looking forward to hearing what happened.
The speed of Rory, Adam and Buvey setting up the Club could not have been done in two months, thats a lot of months of planning, including studios, setups, social media overlays, business plan etc. They were just looking for the right time and that moment was perfect, setting them on a trajectory.
I think there are a lot of admin people in the London podcast space who have created studios for hire, everything else is more or less what they had already done.
they literally just did eveything the kick off did and changes the name and ditched Brian and loz..i have no sympathy for them for waht they did to brian!
@@balooc2 Grow up they were carrying the Kickoff for a longtime for a fraction of the profit and Brian was eventually going to sink his own ship whether it was the islam joke or not so they got out before he brought them down with him

I hate the cold world we live in. Anyone with a brain could see true geordie isn’t a bad guy and he has a good heart. I can relate a lot to him and I feel very bad for him.

Marks a genuine genius… getting Laurence on to see how the crowd react, also putting him back into the fold to then go and hire him for that’s football…
I would really like seeing them together more but I think Loz wants to continue doing his own thing mostly. I hope you’re correct though because I think their dynamic would be great. Both are incredibly thoughtful in what they say and I think Loz’s willingness to play devil’s advocate would be great with Mark’s unfaltering belief of what football is and means to people.

This is a fascinating interview between two great minds in the footballing content space. I’d love to see both Mark Goldbridge interview more guests, and also Laurence get back on the horse of creating content. Much love to you both❤️
Thanks Mark and Laurence. Really enjoyed listening to your chat. I discovered the original iteration of the kick-off relatively late in the piece so was disappointed when it ended. Thanks for shedding some light on it Laurence and the care you show in telling your story.
A really engaging chat. Well done both of you. Super natural and kept my interest throughout. Now waiting to see how you both evolve the space and what’s born off the back of this interview
Let’s wait to see how long this comment lasts before he deletes it like the previous comment about him acting like he created TH-cam because it hurt his ego 😅
Really good hearing Laurence's perspective. There's no question him leaving has been a huge reason for the decline of the kick off. He's always come across as a well balanced and rational person, who clearly played a significant role both on the show and off camera. He and Brian complimented each other so well, which is why they'll hopefully end up working together again eventually. Clearly also the show has suffered because of the loss of the other three, given their chemistry and entertainment value. That said, while I like the dynamic of Rory, Buvey and Mckola, there's no question they turned their back on Geordie. To create a show that's so similar to the kick off was a turncoat move, given the platform he helped provide for them.
Honestly I’ve watched the kick off since it started and knew Mark but I’ve never watched any of his videos, and the only reason I watched this one was cuz it was an interview with Laurence. But I’m really glad I did watch this cuz i never knew how much Mark cared about the space, and how great he is. Thanks for speaking so well and being direct. I really do miss the kick off and I genuinely hope that the TH-cam football space does get to where it was heading to a few years ago because unfortunately it really is how mark says it is right now.
I can't lie it still bothers me how things panned out. The podcast worked because they were all genuine friends and to see all of them separated over a mistake. Yes, a messed up mistake, but still. It's just a sad turn of events. The kickoff isn't the same and the Club isn't really that special. Lawrence was my favorite and to see him affected the most is quite tragic
ive got to say that I was wrong about Laurence. he's come across really well here and he's shown some great character by not talking badly about the club and co. because he would have been justified in doing so. and I think you did a really good job in not putting words in Laurence's mouth but also asking questions in a transparent and personal way. great vid mark!
Jeez, goldbridge loves himself, the interview is about lawerence, let him talk. Seems more of a chance to plug himself because this video is sure to blow up
Very telling that when they do a bad thing "they go back to the well of good will" and when its empty "they do charity". Those were Laurences own words, so the charity work was purely to earn favour for slip ups
Saying "its not an arrogance thing" doesn't change the levels of arrogance in this from MG. "What do normal people get paid" and "I don't shop in Tesco.. I know my worth". Whether he is right or not... his opinion of himself made this quite painful to sit through at times.
Goldbridge acting like he's the first in "The Space" getting in with the clubs when Redmen and The Anfield Wrap have been interviewing Jurgen and the players for years 😂
That was brilliant. Very insightful and interesting. Mark Goldbridge was great asking the questions and pushing for the answers we all want to know. Laurence is great and an inspiration for me, I appreciated how he answered with honesty and integrity whilst being respectful. Super show.
The more ive watched this interview is the more i wish Mark and Loz started mark goldbridge saves football together 😂😂 bro they just bounce off each other
This channel will be a force in a year or two with content like this and cooking with goldbridge ! Refreshing content on a well thought out channel. fair play !
Bloody hell. Goldbridge basically interviewed himself. Never seen someone answer their own questions as much in an interview. Lawrence if you're reading this, please do an interview with someone else. I actually wouldn't mind knowing what happened.
This was really refreshing and honest, credit to you both. I think it's always been clear that Loz is an intelligent and thoughtful creator and director, especially shown in his Hendo doc. I hope more opportunities come his way where he's able to show off his talents. And hope to see more insightful interviews like this from you Mark. Don't let those around you in the industry dampen your ambitions because I believe you can achieve greater things than you already are
Not gunna lie, I used to find Lawrence quite cocky and grating, however, the last 18 months seem to have humbled him. Sometimes we all need that to grow - I certainly have had that experience in my own life where I was taken down a peg and it’s an important part of evolving into our best selves - blessings guys ☀️🌱❤️
Watching this video makes me realise Goldbridge exists in a parallel universe to me where he's more than a goon crying in front of a green screen. I honestly have never taken him seriously and never given him more than a second thought. Hearing him and Loz prattle on about how they've impacted the media space... it just boggles my mind.
Something a bit different. I love this industry and this is something I'd been interested in for a long time as a big fan of the Kick Off in it's original conception. Fair play to Loz for being open to doing this and I think it's a fair appreciation and story for everyone involved.

He invented the space, the space was nothing without him
don't forget though.. that if he had been involved in the kick off.. that it would have done really really well.. not just really well.. really really well.. like unbeatable...
If you took a shot every time they said “the space”, you’d be dead.

When two great presenters collide! Instead of being a Lawrence McKenna interview we ended up with a simultaneous two way interview, great content guys.
In interview the interviewer asks questions and the guest answers, here guest never answered anything.

What specifically did Ol Lawrence not answer? Maybe not the answer u wanted to hear to validate what u wanted. Sounds like a you problem. Do better
Shame Laurence is such an unpleasant person
@@Little_monkey_fellahe is not
He's above average in iq, he's hardly a genius though. They're likely on a similar level in fact, just Lawrence likes to ridicule people a bit more. He's simply more conniving than the others were. That is not a sign of high intelligence. That is a sign of a disturbed mindset towards other people.
@@Pebble_Collector tbf joe rogan is also quite stupid
It all started when Hugh wizzy left.
Hugh was so good on there
agreed, TG and Wizzy were the main people
Yeah I noted that too. Didn’t he say something nasty towards Rory or Burvey? on one of the shows?
Why did hugh wizzy leave, was it after the bad comment that true geordie made or did he leave before because he didnt like the ‘snakes’ in the group?
The fraud father left because of a pay dispute. He wanted more and they didn't agree. It wasn't a bad split.
The first 100ish True Geordie podcast was peak TH-cam

Laurence is a solid, fair minded bloke. His Liverpool stuff is great. Really like the guy.
Miss hughwizzy. The chemistry between he and Rory really made it special for me.
Hughwizzy is a gem
The way he jabbed at Rory was perfect
When Hugh and Rory were the regulars that was the show at it's peak, in fact probably the peak of all football youtube at that point honestly.
I think Hugh leaving was the beginning of the downfall tbh. People tuned in for Hugh and other regulars and like Loz admitted I think not treating them with enough respect like a contract was the first mistake.

So sad.
Bring Loz onto the podcast regularly. He’s a good guy.
He should be a regular on That's Football imo. He has the knowledge and is very funny. His banter was my favorite thing about The kick off
May be a good guy but needs a stronger backbone

Best podcast I’ve listened to in years, Laurence is a fantastic addition to any form of media in the footballing landscape.
We all know Laurence And TG work best together they need each other to thrive especially Brian

We need more of this content mark. It’s great to hear both your insights to the YouTubing world. Respect to loz for all his honesty too. Great video
Laurence used to get alot of stick, but I think he comes across really well, and speaks about the whole situation so well
You would after that level of feedback
@@harryhairo7272too right. The man was humbled, and rightly so.
This was brilliant. Glad to see Loz rebuilding. You both work really well together. Fingers crossed there is a future where you both work together!
“Stayed to the end” gang where you at?
The speed of Rory, Adam and Buvey setting up the Club could not have been done in two months, thats a lot of months of planning, including studios, setups, social media overlays, business plan etc. They were just looking for the right time and that moment was perfect, setting them on a trajectory.
I think there are a lot of admin people in the London podcast space who have created studios for hire, everything else is more or less what they had already done.
they literally just did eveything the kick off did and changes the name and ditched Brian and loz..i have no sympathy for them for waht they did to brian!
Think u need to check them facts, probably for the 1st time.
@@balooc2 Grow up they were carrying the Kickoff for a longtime for a fraction of the profit and Brian was eventually going to sink his own ship whether it was the islam joke or not so they got out before he brought them down with him
I think Loz and Stephen tries were the first sort of people to bring this ‘office’ style quick quips comedy into this TH-cam space which I’ve always enjoyed so thank you for that!
Loz is one of the most well spoken individuals, always really respectful
I hate the cold world we live in. Anyone with a brain could see true geordie isn’t a bad guy and he has a good heart. I can relate a lot to him and I feel very bad for him.
The dream is Lawrence and Brian reunited podcast. Miss them two together. Watching Lawrence talking and his humour/personality without Brian next to him laughing or bouncing off him. Hope one of them makes the move to repair or start the process. Love them both.
Tbh the personal difference between true geordie and laurence is fine but i find it snakey that the other co host left and made the club a carbon copy of the kick off
The game is the game, if he hadn't have made his comments they would never have been out in the position where their livelihood was at stake.
First I've heard of the club. Took a look. Pass.
Yeah The Club is awful. All of them are total a-holes.

Thanks Mark and Laurence. Really enjoyed listening to your chat. I discovered the original iteration of the kick-off relatively late in the piece so was disappointed when it ended. Thanks for shedding some light on it Laurence and the care you show in telling your story.
This podcast was amazing. Watched the full thing and it was a great watch.
A really engaging chat. Well done both of you. Super natural and kept my interest throughout. Now waiting to see how you both evolve the space and what’s born off the back of this interview

The club is ironically missing that anchor which was Brian and Loz

ive got to say that I was wrong about Laurence. he's come across really well here and he's shown some great character by not talking badly about the club and co. because he would have been justified in doing so. and I think you did a really good job in not putting words in Laurence's mouth but also asking questions in a transparent and personal way. great vid mark!

Watching this video makes me realise Goldbridge exists in a parallel universe to me where he's more than a goon crying in front of a green screen.
