Something a bit different. I love this industry and this is something I'd been interested in for a long time as a big fan of the Kick Off in it's original conception. Fair play to Loz for being open to doing this and I think it's a fair appreciation and story for everyone involved.

As someone who’s spent 1000s of hours watching Mark, Brian (True Geordie) and Laurence, this was a brilliant podcast to hear. I think Laurence chose the right person to sit down and talk about it with. I hope Laurence and Brian can find a way back to each other, they were an unbeatable partnership when it comes to podcasting and streaming. Even if they don’t though, they’ve got an incredible back-catalogue of work that will stand the test of time, so thank you to both of them for giving us that over the years. ❤️

Laurence was 50% (minimum) of TG’s channel in my mind. The reason it worked so well is because they really bounced off each other, similar senses of humour but with different delivery. Brian the straight-talker and Laurence with the sharp wit, the comedic value was excellent.
I’m not massively interested in watching either on their own tbh, but if they ever worked together again id be all over it

Soz, he's always seemed fake to me and no difference here. It's probably why he got hammered so much as well - people perceived, rightly or wrongly, that he thinks very hard about what he says and does, so had a hard time believing he didn't just calculate that moving quickly on was (in his mind) the best chance of keeping everything from blowing up. Not that I think a throwaway wayward comment deserved a cancellation, it's not as if Brian was ever held up as some role model or paragon of normality. If a Blue Peter presenter can do lines off a turtle and still find work, a bit of Christian forgiveness towards TG wouldn't go amiss

Really good hearing Laurence's perspective. There's no question him leaving has been a huge reason for the decline of the kick off. He's always come across as a well balanced and rational person, who clearly played a significant role both on the show and off camera. He and Brian complimented each other so well, which is why they'll hopefully end up working together again eventually.
Clearly also the show has suffered because of the loss of the other three, given their chemistry and entertainment value. That said, while I like the dynamic of Rory, Buvey and Mckola, there's no question they turned their back on Geordie. To create a show that's so similar to the kick off was a turncoat move, given the platform he helped provide for them.

I honestly think Laurence could slot into any of the YT football podcasts and immediately make them better.

Agreed, I think he does editing or something for Chunks and Filly now so I’m sure he’s doing alright

He produces their podcast, doesn't have a camera on him but does talk at times during the podcasts.@@crookieee

Very telling that when they do a bad thing "they go back to the well of good will" and when its empty "they do charity". Those were Laurences own words, so the charity work was purely to earn favour for slip ups

Saying "its not an arrogance thing" doesn't change the levels of arrogance in this from MG. "What do normal people get paid" and "I don't shop in Tesco.. I know my worth". Whether he is right or not... his opinion of himself made this quite painful to sit through at times.

Goldbridge acting like he's the first in "The Space" getting in with the clubs when Redmen and The Anfield Wrap have been interviewing Jurgen and the players for years 😂

That was brilliant. Very insightful and interesting. Mark Goldbridge was great asking the questions and pushing for the answers we all want to know. Laurence is great and an inspiration for me, I appreciated how he answered with honesty and integrity whilst being respectful. Super show.

Goldbridge likes the sounds of his own voice too much to conduct an interview. Fair play to Loz for actually managing to answer some questions.

  • @ianbratley9313
    @ianbratley9313 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

Bloody hell. Goldbridge basically interviewed himself. Never seen someone answer their own questions as much in an interview.
Lawrence if you're reading this, please do an interview with someone else. I actually wouldn't mind knowing what happened.

This was really refreshing and honest, credit to you both. I think it's always been clear that Loz is an intelligent and thoughtful creator and director, especially shown in his Hendo doc. I hope more opportunities come his way where he's able to show off his talents. And hope to see more insightful interviews like this from you Mark. Don't let those around you in the industry dampen your ambitions because I believe you can achieve greater things than you already are

Not gunna lie, I used to find Lawrence quite cocky and grating, however, the last 18 months seem to have humbled him. Sometimes we all need that to grow - I certainly have had that experience in my own life where I was taken down a peg and it’s an important part of evolving into our best selves - blessings guys ☀️🌱❤️

Watching this video makes me realise Goldbridge exists in a parallel universe to me where he's more than a goon crying in front of a green screen. I honestly have never taken him seriously and never given him more than a second thought. Hearing him and Loz prattle on about how they've impacted the media space... it just boggles my mind.
