The ZFS licence note was really good! This would indeed be a really good time for Oracle to get some easy points and show they stand behind their words on open source.
    Great video!

Yeah, companies using redhat move slow. They will be on a contract, a need to do all that testing and automation you mentioned. Even my company is moving from centos to rocky and that's a big job. Moving to Ubuntu would be a huge multi year effort.

Oracle and SuSE, are just enjoying giving redhat a kicking. They both behave in similar ways. Still fun to watch though.

FWIW: Oracle has two "flavors" of Linux. Regular and UEK. UEK is Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. People who are forced to use UEK say things like 'you can't break what is already broken'. UEK is also "for pay".
Here is what is coming from IBM-EL though. RHEL has patched many older CLI and TUI based (sometimes derelict) programs for security and very infrequently features. IBM will stop that too as a cost savings measure. If your Linux admin depends on those tools to run the enterprise... yea not going to be fun for IBM.
The move by IBM was intended to be disruptive. It was. Not sure the Vunder-kinder MBAs from Harvard, Columbia, Princeton and Yale thought carefully about the unintended ripples though.

I am sure they thought about the consequences of letting Oracle keep having unrestricted access to their back ported patches.
