    Great test Nas. Some may not agree, but imo across their entire product range they have steadily improved quality over the years.

      Definitely obvious in this one. Cheers Duncan.

    Ok, thank you for this. I'm now convinced I want this product. I apologise for my earlier comments.

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No apology necessary. People are quick to criticise this brand. Truth is though, all brands have their issues. You just don't always hear about them. Sometimes because companies supress them. Other times because people don't want to admit their mistakes. It's good to do your research though and ask questions.

      By the way just to give you a update.
      I have a Merc van 2003 Model. And I called up to see if I can get this fitted. Upon investigation since the item ways between 93 to 95 kilo. And plus I'll be installing a solar panel on it, and then you have the Weight of the roof racks which I'm going to need three. It kinda takes me to around the 130kg mark. And then I also have on my roof, showering awning. And the sun shade awning. Which now takes me to the 146kg mark. Then add two sleeping bags. Thats 3 kilo, which now takes me to 149 kilo
      My vehicle roof rating is: 150KG Max. Which means I'm just under by 1 kilo..lol
      So I'm pretty lucky, it all fit under my cars roof max load.
      Haha.

    Hay Nas, yet again another awesome vid, so thank you... It was a really good test of the new product & to see how their improvements went. I wouldn't mind you doing another one after 6 months just to see if there is any issues with it then. 👍

    Had my mk2 just over 2 years been great love it , I pop it open other day 😧looks like I've joined the club up front the mattress was soaked in water and mould everywhere I think the rubber seal in front mite be leaking,

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chat to 4wd supercentre. That's what I believe happened to me. I thought I put it away wet but they assumed it was the front seal because it was only one side.

  • @jaimo929
    @jaimo929 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    We had ours leak and pool to a corner , appears to be from the zippers , nothing huge but still leaks . We went than through 2 decent down pours and it held up pretty good , the heat from the summer sun evaporated any ingress over the following days

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Couldn't see anything obvious sadly but will keep an eye on those zips. Cheers.

    I just brought a grand tour mk3 today I’ve heard about the headling fall down but I’ve already had the fold out roof top tent from kings and haven’t really had any issues

    I dont like the way over the top branding exercise that Adventure Kings engages in and I think this is part of the reason why many people disregard or disparage Kings gear even if it is equal in quality to other brands, usually China sourced, gear. One feature of this RTT is that you can remove the metal Kings logo off the rear near the ladder brackets. I dont mind the roof top branding - I have a solar panel to go over it. I would normally look for a way to remove the branding.
    Having expressed my opposition to making my vehicle an advertisement for their company, i can say ive just bought a cheap Kings fridge (40 lt for $220) when i had the budget for an Engle or Bushmans ($1800ish). Its size fits across my back seat of my dual cab as well as in the front box of my camper trailer and that is more important than the corporate colours and logo. The insulation cover covers that and a bit of black woven tape covers any inconvenient lettering. Good review

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cheers buddy. I do find it interesting that many people no longer want to be associated with the brand. First thing I did was remove their label. From my experience though, the company has been better to deal with than most. There are some cheap brands out there that I refuse to deal with.

    hey great video. how do you mount your awning to the rooftop tent? cheers?

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My awning is attached to the frame holding the RTT. I personally prefer it this way given the corrugations I go on frequently. Cheers for watching.

      Lay a tarp down before packing up. Done it before and it was fine.

    Hi mate thinking of buying one of these soon, when can we expect an updated review video from yourself? or if you could let me know any major issues youve experienced in the short time using it so far like leaks/quality issues youve found that would be great
    Thanks

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure I've used it long enough for a review yet. I did use it for a week in the High Country in January and it worked like a dream. About my only issue so far was the mattress so I updated it as I did with the old unit. See seperate video. Other than that mate, it's been good. Worth chatting to some members on the Grand Tourer Owners Group on FB. Some claim issues with water but I personally can't see how and as you've seen, I've given it a test myself and had no issues.

    • @Scaped
      @Scaped 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NasTimeAdventures appreciate the response and I will check out that group. There’s always some that will moan at anything I’ve had the normal kings tourer rooftop tent the fold out one for 2 and a half years had it all around australia all extreme weather conditions and it’s never leaked once. The grand tourer is quite an expensive upgrade for me so I’m just trying to make sure it’s gonna last! Thanks for you help

    A high pressure cleaner would replicate 100KM hour + speeds a lot better than a garden hose. Airspeed makes a massive difference to seal performance.

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had it in rain during high speed and it her up well at that end.

    Did u ever have any problems with the mrk2

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was happy with the mk2 and had it through some big storms with no problems. Before swapping it, it seems I did get some water in it while travelling through a storm. Most likely because the front seal was not in place. Sadly I put the rtt in storage without checking.

    Nice trailer but sorry not into kings China gear. I custom made my clam shell rooftop tent and got crazy dog canvas to make the canvas tent out of Australian made canvas 15oz. No one has ever complained of issues of there canvas or leaks.. Good ole Australian gear over chinese gear. Plus a true test in a storm would be spraying it every side for over a hour

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I could justify the cost at the moment, I would. There are many good brands around. Crazy dog makes some real good gear and even has his own brand of RTTs now.

    No need to test for leaks they all LEAK

    • @NasTimeAdventures
      @NasTimeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's interesting because the majority of actual owners I've spoken with claim otherwise.

    • @muhammedPies
      @muhammedPies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Terry, I think the test leak quality is good.
      Like who goes camping in extremely stormy weather like that.
      Notice in the video only a bit of water came in while the tent was up. Not when the tent was fully closed.
      And notice it only came in when it was extreme weather conditions through the zipper. Of course no one in their right mind would go camping in those conditions.
      I think I'm now convinced I want this tent!
