I was actually at this performance. I wasn't one of the paid regular dancers yet I was there for tapings on a regular basis. On one side of the soundstage was the dance floor then just swing the cameras 180° and the performance stage was at the opposite end. It was this nondescript building in Burbank right next to the I-5. "Live" performances were actually lip-synced, Oingo Boingo included, but the volume and the energy made it feel like a live performance. Both Danny Elfman and Johnny Vatos were cool, gracious and signed autographs after. Great memories!
I like it 5000 times. Boingo shows were some of the happiest moments of my life. My ex wife, Linda worked for the Secret Society. She got us back stage. I met Danny’s parents, Milton and Blossom. Also, I met Bill Walton. Total surprise!
Danny Elfman was never better than when he was with Oingo Boingo, and he never will be able to replicate the charge Oingo Boingo gave us kids. Oh how I miss their music and irreverent lyrics. Danny, please give us a second farewell tour.
I remember watching this live on TV when I was 15. MV3 was on in the afternoon and I could watch it when I got home from school. Long time Boingo fan. So many shows.. Saw the finale at Universal Amphitheater. That's when my life peaked...It's been all downhill from there... But, Boingo brings out the fondest memories.
Steve Bartek playing an exceptionally rare guitar during Nothing To Fear--that's a J.B. Player Mercury. This one, black with a maple fingerboard, is only the sixth example I can personally confirm exists.
Thank you for the upload! The bass is so strong in this! Love Danny looking like the guitar is electrocuting him, and Vatos is so cute smiling at the camera!
Thank you for posting this. This was my introduction to Oingo Boingo at age 11 in 1983. I’ve been a lifetime fan ever since. I used to have a vhs recording of this that I recorded live on air when it was first aired. Someone borrowed it in the late 80s and I’ve poked around looking for it ever since. Too bad they weren’t playing live but still a great performance. Thanks for the good memory!
Brand new Boingo fan and I can't get enough. They are the absolute best. Absolutely.

They played my Prom at the Queen Mary in 1981 in Long Beach ☑️
god what i would give to have seen them live
I saw Oingo Boingo twice in 1982 at the Reseda Country Club. A good memory.

Four months after you wrote this comment he played at the Hollywood Bowl.
This TV performance was my very first taste of Oingo Boingo. Probably their best LP overall as well.

I remember seeing it live as well - I was 24, and they were the best damn band I'd ever seen & herd! Their music truly had an effect on my life!
Me and 2 of my brothers saw Oingo Boingo in 1983 at the Irvine Ampitheater just outside Costa Mesa where we lived. Great show and memories!
I think oingo boingo is underrated
We all raced home to watch MV3 in the afternoon! Wanna say Richard Blade (KROQ dj) was the host!
I was at X at the Channel 9 studios in Hollywood on MV3
Best live band Ever!!

WAS THERE EVER ANOTHER FRONT MAN WHO ROCKED THE XYLOPHONE?!!
Such a waste of an amazing live band with the overdubs:(
We’re they really playing live? It sounds pretty damn , well , just like the recording.
Playback
@@Man_Hat_Tan. what does that mean?
@@ATP360 They are neither playing nor singing, just doing the mime. That's why it sounds like the recording because it's the record being played.
I'm always amused by the way he moves his neck)😊
Used to leave the hood in long beach CA to Huntington beach to fist fight with the surfers back then . . . No knifes or guns just dude against dude

Not sure why Kerry Hatch left the band but the early Boingo with his bass playing is the best.

Here you are again!
Steve bartek is the MOST underated
No, it’s most definitely the keyboardists. I’ve barley seen them talked about.
Back when he was boy-band fresh
Too bad the video quality sucks.
Sure would like to see more MV3 performances on youtube.
