    hi Ty, I got my RadGuard from Australia on Friday ! its kinda funny, but the radiator guard accidentally shipped to Rolla Missouri! (not even close)... The recipient was kind enough to forward the unit on to me; so the total shipping time from June 2 to July 1 was, well, one month. (yikes)
    So definitively, the RadGuard is completely compatible with the Harley-Davidson engine guards (crash bars) with one exception (which is minor) the engine guards must be removed 'first' prior to installing the RadGuard (4 bolts). Failure to remove the engine guards will make moving the radiator core 'up' impossible.
    So, I got my RadGuard installed without breaking anything and I had no parts left over (that's always a good thing). I'm always a little leery of loosening and then moving a radiator core because I'm afraid of breaking a seal loose and having a leak. Fortunately, that did not happen. Also, moving the radiator core has the chance of causing a bind in the auxiliary fan (behind core) which also moves when the core is moved. I also created no bind in my cooling fan. On my bike the fan kicks on at idle when the power plant temp hits about 223 F. The fan remains on until the temps get back around the 200 mark.
    The RadGuard looks really good (very impressed) and especially looks better than I thought it would. I'm very pleased with this upgrade; although, I am disappointed that HD didn't provide the radiator guard from the factory, because the bike definitely needs this. By the time I got my RadGuard ordered and installed I already had two minor dings in the radiator fins from small pebbles being thrown up by the front tire. In my opinion, not having a radiator guard from the factory is a design flaw. Thank you RadGuard for correcting this condition.

    So, I decided today was the day to install a radiator guard on my Harley Sportster S. I watched your video that made it look as easy as pie. You know, the kind of pie that’s already been baked and served to you on a silver platter. 😂
    I thought, “How hard can it be?” Spoiler alert: harder than finding a parking spot at a bike rally!
    I started off strong, feeling like a motorcycle mechanic extraordinaire. But then, I encountered a few *minor* issues. You know, like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole while blindfolded. 🤦‍♂️
    And now, here I am, still wrestling with one of the top screws. It’s like it’s playing hide and seek, and I’m definitely losing! I swear it’s laughing at me from the depths of the engine.
    So, if you see me on the road with a radiator guard that looks like it was installed by a raccoon, just know I had one of those days. But hey, at least I’m getting my workout in! 💪

    Good install. I got my rad guard for for my UK sportster from ‘Iron Optics’ in Germany, as shipping from Australia would have been very expensive. The radiator is pretty vulnerable on the Harley so a guard is essential in my opinion

    Ridiculous that for what Harley charges for the bike that they don’t have this. I guess they want it to get punctured so the can sell you a new one for $750.

    Nice radiator guard! Do you know how this install will affect your motorcycle warranty? I have installed similar kind of guard to my Sportster S made by French company Access Design and I was wondering does the install affect my warranty? It would be great if you could make a video about this subject. Thanks!

    • @TyFromTennessee
      @TyFromTennessee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! I don't see how this could affect the warranty, but who knows. I'll check with my local dealership and see what they say. Great question and thank you very much for watching!

    • @RadiatorGuards
      @RadiatorGuards 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is potentially different here in Australia, but it does not affect warranty here. In fact, we actually supply them to dealers to sell along with the bikes! Best to contact a local dealership on this subject I'd say.

    For me, moving the radiator up on the right side was no where near as smooth as it looked it was for you. I had to push the radiator up on both sides to get mine installed. Ugh. Hopefully I haven't messed anything up with the fan or the radiator. 🤞

    • @TyFromTennessee
      @TyFromTennessee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey James. For the most part I think the installation went smooth. There were a few things that I had to try a time or two. I appreciate your time today. Thank you for watching!

    Ty, thanks man! I have been thinking about this since November! I actually consider this open exposed radiator issue a design flaw, and so far the only one I am aware of on the Sportster S. You DO NOT want an open exposed radiator core three inches behind the bobber sized front wheel of the Sportster S... no way! ... one small stone and you're leaking radiator fluid. My radiator already has quite a bit of grit, gravel, and debris in the center of the radiator core, which I intend to back flush when I install this guard.
    I definitely plan to order this guard and install as-soo-as-possible. Thanks Ty for the tip, man!

      @@TyFromTennessee , since I posted a thought came to me , which I will be checking out this coming week. When you look at the radiator core, it really looks like it was designed to have a guard (where is it?). I'm going to be checking on the engine guards I have ordered from HD. What I am wondering now is whether the engine guards "kit" includes radiator core protection. In that case the rad guard from Aussie land may be redundant. The other thought that crossed my mind is whether the rad guard (me possibly being wrong about point one) might interfere with the installation of the HD engine guards! I'll know either way next week. My engine guards have come in, and I'll check both ideas out before I decide on the purchase from Aussie land. If there is no interference (nor redundancy) then I'll definitely be ordering the rad guard. Thanks again mate !

    What a nightmare , lol
    I put one one my bike , different brand off of eBay
    Fit like crap , had to take both side shrouds off , had a hard time with both lower screws on the shrouds , left side really sucked , kept dropping the screws etc
    But after I was finally finished
    It looks great
    Took me an hour , lol

    • @TyFromTennessee
      @TyFromTennessee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony - I totally understand the frustration with the shroud screws. When I did my battery install video it felt like it took me forever too to get those things back in place. I hope your happy with your radiator guard. So far mine has been a good investment. Thanks for watching!!
