We own the 2023 30Z and tow a Jeep JK Rubicon (on a trailer). This beast tows and handles like a dream. However we only get an average of 8 mpg towing the Jeep. BTW we love this unit!!!
No window in the bed slide, and if you park overnight, make sure you back in if you're going to deploy the slide. The last thing you want is some trucker taking your head off. Get the white exterior. Your paint won't check, and you'll be much cooler in the summer. Black exteriors on motorhomes may look nice, but they suck up the heat like nobody's business. The insides of your closets and cupboards will be hotter than usual as well because the a/c doesn't make it in there, and the sidewalls will get extra hot. Nice rig, tho. Well done on the walk-through, Josh.
We have a 2023 Jayco Greyhawk 31f ( bunk bed floor plan) and I keep it around 60-65 mph and get a whopping 8.7 miles per gallon. Keeping it at strictly 55 mph it bumps it to around 9.2 with all our gear and a little water in the fresh tank. Anything above 65 and mpg falls to 8 and possibly lower depending on a few factors
We have similar model but in the 2022 esteem. I keep tire pressure at 70psi cold, after driving it heads to 80psi. Tire pressure is huge for mpg. I’m looking into dually equalizer kit to keep it balanced as much as possible. Inner tire could get higher psi due to being next to the brakes, but haven’t seen much increases probably from them being disc brakes vs drum. I also don’t ride them either even over mountain passes like Donner over I80. Main problem is the hub caps, wish it came with aluminum rims.
We have the older V10, I use to tow a dolly which netted 6.7 mpg +/-, now we flat tow a hybrid 2022 ford and we are getting 7.7+ mpg in flat Florida. Our last Class C was a Jayco and we loved it, and looking as this 30Z will be the replacement next year.
Give me a break. My mom's new 1972 Caddy, 472 ci, got 6 MPG city, but going to Vegas going down hill we hit 10 MPG. MY 1972 Corvette 454, got 6-11 MPG.
I love that you presented so many details on this model. Impressive! We have this exact model in the 2023 and I love it. You've got your kitchen area with dinette, living room area, open bathroom which can be closed off with the two doors making it a larger bathroom, and then your bedroom. We get 9 mi per gallon without towing anything yet.
I have an Entegra 30z which is identical to the Greyhawk. It is pretty loaded with stuff and I get approximately 9.5 MPG. I would not want a window above the bed. What I really like is the separation of rooms. The living room is separate from the kitchen which a lot of RV's mix them together. The Entertainment Center is great. We use the fireplace to heat instead of turning the heater on. We have had our's for a little over a year and love it. Thanks for the review.
I really like the rear bed slide idea. I've seen it a few times on travel trailers. Ironically I believe they were Outback trailers, lol. Thanks Nerd for another great video.
Regarding the rear bed window, here is a crazy idea - acrylic moonroof with a shade you can draw. Maybe two small side windows in the slide? Maybe go whole hog and have a moonroof, cyclops rear window, and 2 side breeze windows.
Thx, great video, 12V frig is a must for 2023, especially for models costing this much! I’ll hold until that’s included. No issue with skipping bedroom window though.
Own a 2022 31f, same front end with window, about the same size. MPG after a trip(1,300miles) was about 8-9 mpg with 2/3 traveling at 4,000 ft alt. High altitude peaks were 7,300 ft and down to sea level. Strong head wind drop to about 6-7mpg and around 10-11 mpg with tail wind. Average speed was 62 mph and average temperatures were in the 50s. Fully loaded with five people. Matt’s rv review stated a overbunk capacity for 800lbs on his review of one. Need an air vent in that overhead bunk area. Those seatbelts in the dinner area need to be redesigned, it pushes the cushions off and the female ends are too short. Under the dinning seats, I know people complain about not having piano hinges but I prefer to have the boards cover in fabric so it doesn’t cut the cushions or have wood everywhere. We have the 12cuft refrigerator and love it vs 8cuft. A 12V refrigerator would require more batteries and solar panels. A window in the back would be nice for air and to see out the back. We have five TVs, all insignia, not a fan of them. They are too thick and not too smart. We ended up getting Roku players on a Black Friday for the main one and bedroom. Wineguard has not been working for us, we use our iPhone with hotspots as it’s the most cost efficient way while traveling. We are also not full time RVers.
Because generators are usually under a slide may be the reason they don’t put a strut on the door so it doesn’t get left open when retracting the slide and crushed. They could have it open down.
Hi. I have a 2022 31wv Thor chateau ,on the ford E450 ,7.3. Did an 8,000 mile trip in 10 weeks and kept it around 65 sometimes 70 , and we were towing a small car on a doll . Our average was 7.8mpg . Yes ,two thirds of our total cost was gas 😕.
NO window at the bed headboard. The paint package looks nice but for heat or radiation reflections I would keep the white. Not a fan of the window over the bed in the cab. Love the table and the no knee knocker action. The entertainment area is great,, love the eye level TV and the heater below. They did a great job with the pass through under the bed. No ladder is OK with me. This is a really nice unit, if I were looking at this type of vehicle this would be high on the list.
I've seen enough of your comments to feel you a pretty grounded and reasonable individual. Chances are it's kind of what you're imagining. The biggest thing I would offer is seat belt safety is a federally regulated thing and not something factories can just slap around as they please with staples... like so many other things
It's been 5 years since I first toured that floorplan, loved it, but I remember it being OCCC challenged with all of the goodies it had. Also, I would only seriously consider an RV only with a 13-vikt DC fridge. Battleborns/Dragonfly now offers a Group-24 size Lifepo4 Lithium battery so even if the battery compartment is tiny, 160 AH of usable AH capacity is very doable for a DC fridge compared to only 80 AH of usable lead acid battery. However, my expertise that me or your technicians can usually squeeze in a couple of Group-27 batteries if we are careful. The third thing is that only about half of the Jayco floorplans feel like the shower floors are properly supported. I had to fix several shower floorplans at the campground we managed for 6 years and hate how they weren't properly supported & it is a real pain to repair the plastic or fiberglass - so please tell Jayco/Entegra that people want DC fridges, Group-27 Lifepo4 batteries, & properly supported shower pans along with more than 1200 pounds of cargo capacity on 32+' floorplans. Cheers, Davey - the other RV nerd!
Great Class C - if only my wife would ……. Anyway. Most definitely would prefer the 12V fridge. But that’s just us. Our current TT is 32 Ft. Hmmmm 🤔Really like that floor plan !!
The only reasons I can come up with on the generator door is that generators get hot, and if the door can't be propped open--without modification--it becomes a defacto heat shield. It also keeps taller critters and toddlers from inadvertently walking into it, since there really is no full enclosure or lower door frame.
I would definitely miss the rear window. We run an older Class C motorhome, based on the E350 chassis. Although the rear window is 26 ft away from the drivers seat, it's still more rearward visibility. Mileage, our F.I. 460 averages 8-9 mpg. The V10 "Godzilla" motor would probably get slightly better mileage, due to having more torque to propel your "home on wheels". Good video, Josh.
Small windows on each side of the bed (by your head) so you can have a cross breeze. I have this on my outback with the bed that does slide out the back.
Thanks for your time in these videos. Question you mention something about softening flooring? This seems to be happening to our 5th , why? And I would like to have a 12v-propane frigid. So I could use 12v while traveling. Thanks
MPG: 2022 Jayco Redhawk 31F with the 7.3L Godzilla engine. Similar length and weight to this unit. I see 8.6 MPG on average which I find to be completely acceptable. The engine provides plenty of power and acceleration but is noisy under load.
My grandparents would bring a peace of plywood and make a bench between the driver and passenger seat. You could use the mattress for a small child or pet .
The fold down doors on the storage seems to be a problem with having good access to the storage. Also the slide toppers on the drivers side seems to be slopping towards the trailer wall.
Have a GH 31F (32.5ft F450). As far as MPG, on average mostly highway, seeing from as bad as 8.5 with 20-30mph headwind, to 10.5mpg in no wind. Have not towed with it yet but both of those numbers are with the generator running going down the road. Other side-comment, that rubberized floor in the front makes a great spot to chunk dirty shoes when coming in. Super easy to clean.
@@JoshtheRVNerd the 22 seems kind of thrown together and not as well thought-out as the 23. The 23 has that large above cab front window and that whole area has more storage in the 23. The 22 has barely any usable storage in the above cab area. The 22 is also lacking proper support in the rear cargo area that is present in the 23. NO on the rear window. Warmer without it . Darker for sleeping . Fantastic fan and not the cheap childs toy fan . Gas/electric refrigerator is my preference, with a 12V dealer upgrade available if wanted.
Make the sofa a 60 inch fold out loveseat and the dinette 80 inches, The way it is you can't sleep anyone on those, my way you can have 2 adults sleep there.
@ 16:28 those 3 shelves are for this and that and the other they come in a 3 pack at Sam's club and no you can't just get this and that you have to buy the other to 😄
Hey Scooby.....my wife wants to know how many Mountain Dews you had before this taping😅 It is a shame it is not a 50amp coach. Seems like it would be a great starter unit, going from a 5th wheel to a C. Working a way to a Super C. Gas/Electric or 12volt fridge, really makes no difference in my opinion on a drivable. Just has never made any since.please reply,if anyone knows I'm sure you do.thank you Josh.

Why aren't there any motorhomes that are one solid color?
Wish I could tell you
You know what I'm going to say . . . 12 volt fridge everytime!
I am pretty much the same
100% it needs windows!! Very nice
Ty
12 volt frig, yes window in the rear, convection micro, remove the oven, they are useless.
Ty. Great input
Those flip DOWN DOORS ON THE OUTSIDE LOOK TO ME TO BE A REAL DOWNER,WHY OH WHY DID THEY DO THAT,don't get it???
A window would be great
Ty
What is the ccc?
NO on the rear window. Warmer without it . Darker for sleeping . Fantastic fan and not the cheap childs toy fan . Gas/electric refrigerator is my preference, with a 12V dealer upgrade available if wanted.
Thx Gary
Friend had one with a slide out back. It was a pain when towing a vehicle apparently so they said
Curious how a rear slide conflicts with a tow vehicle..
Make the sofa a 60 inch fold out loveseat and the dinette 80 inches, The way it is you can't sleep anyone on those, my way you can have 2 adults sleep there.
👍🏻
Ummm why are the dinette benches 2 different colors?
Must be just how the camera is seeing it in the light. They’re the same
Hi Josh and viewers
We continue to use our phones and hotspot for internet access.

I despise the accent rope lighting! No matter the color. Reminds me of a frat house
First I've seen someone say this but I respect it. TY for sharing how you feel
12v fridge all the way
Hey Scooby.....my wife wants to know how many Mountain Dews you had before this taping😅
It is a shame it is not a 50amp coach. Seems like it would be a great starter unit, going from a 5th wheel to a C. Working a way to a Super C. Gas/Electric or 12volt fridge, really makes no difference in my opinion on a drivable. Blue paint package though.
I like the blue package as well. Ty
Also.. Scooby 😆
